Stuka,
Dayal Singh College....tell me more about it. I know it has several precious historical texts - access has been denied to sikhs.
The reason Dayal Singh College`s name has not been changed is that it was some kind of trust. Under international law and rule, trusts` name cannot be changed. SEVERAL other colleges and schools have now muslim names.
ie Khalsa Colleges Guru Nanak College etc. and schools are now Islamia college.

Wrong again..... Dyal Singh Collge is GOVERNMENT OWNED.... My father studied there...
Dyal Singh College remained Dyal Singh College because Dyal Singh was a great philanthropist just like Sir Gangaram....
Islamia college civil lines predates partition... but I am not sure about the fate of the colleges you mention....
The point is that you chaps should really avoid speaking without proper authentication of facts.

GOOD POINT ....
Danesh Parbharkar Kaneria indeed comes from an Upper middle class family and went to St Patrick`s....
I think Salman Butt might be of similar background.

Stuka:
A great reportage.
Why do I get this eerie feeling that you nipped & tucked the original write-up after the reaction from the first. That Amreekan who spoke fluent urdu , was he a goraa (like amreekan-amreekan) or peela-bhooraa? Maybe you were just pulling you-know-whose
leg..Bichaara!
Not until the return of a prodigal son of Pakistan, alias Lalaa Stuka, the proud hindu, has there been such venom & vitriol spewed out by the usual secular-hindu brigade from India or belonging to India.
CHOWK has metomorphosised or, if you will, reincarnated itself and will never ever be the same again. Pakistanis are happy..(written to rattle the monkey-cage)
The Retired types who glowed & burned with excitement when their AmmaN Roosiah
(Mother Russia) was pregnant with mother-India. Aaah! they wax & then droop, ``those were the days when religion was in the closet and all hindu/muslim/sikh/eesais were declared bhai bhais only if they recited the kalima of Secularism & Socialism.``
No more! Religion is bouncing, bubbling and beaming and government is being kicked out increasingly from peoples lives. Was that not the way before the British Babboons sailed from their wet soggy and gloomy `ome.
Strange, that two generations after partition such folks still love to dispense the kind of Big-Brother ``Pakistan `should` do this , Pakistan `should` do that``, ``Islam should have this & not that``--Abay buDDhay GidhhO (not gadhO mind you, but old vultures) since when have you donned this `supreriority` mantle? Leave it to muslims or even near-muslims , be they from India or Pakistan to sort this out ``till death do them apart``. Stay far far away from this `family-feuds` or you could get trampled by the stampede.
Worship more and count more money, become more professional & serve well, that is what you are meant for. Keep doing that & convince yourself how much blessed you are. Leave muslims and Pakistan to its own `peril`--dynamic & daring, it cannot survive without in-fighting.

Manto,
you have a knack with playing on words....and telling half truths. with the finesse you do this, you must be born with this gift, i don`t think this could be taught.
feign ignorance on several schools and colleges that are now ``Islamia`` colleges.

AN EXAMPLE for LIARS
``..........Muhammad Rafiq Tarar was born on November 2, 1929, in a small village Pir Kot, Ghakkar Mandi, Wazirabad Tehsil. He had his schooling in Ghakkar Mandi, from where he completed his primary education and did his matriculation in 1945 from Government Islamia High School, Gujranwala. In 1947, he passed FSc. from Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Gujranwala, which was renamed as Islamic College after independence and graduated from the same college............``

Stuka 103,
Arre yaar, I accepted my mistake. Do you have to still be so hung up on it?
You seem to have merrily skipped over my other points. Want to address only those that you are comfortable with or what?
And what`s with the constant refrain of Sambhar-vada? Is that some kind of insult that we southies are supposed to cringe from?
