Azmat,

I commend you for writing … for it is a lot better way to cope with such trauma. I suspect quite of few people have been similarly victimized. This message needs to get across to them … that they are not at fault, and that they are not alone in such struggles.

I myself had a similar close call … which I didn’t realize then … but do now. Lucky for me, nothing happened. Do I blame the dude? In some ways I don’t. I see him too as a victim of circumstances. Could he have handled himself better? Probably … but then again, who am I to judge? And yet again, I may not be so forgiving in hindsight if more had transpired … so can’t really say much.

I hope you find peace and all that’s good and refreshing in life. Kudos … and good luck man ...

Thank you all for the feedback, I am encouraged. This was my first ever story. I do not want to generalize and say something negative in the last paragraph. I wanted to point out that there is a certain amount of trust given to someone who professes to be virtueous and perhaps that trust is misplaced. Maybe I could have expressed that idea differently. Next time I will spend more time and energy before submitting. I believe in openness and honesty, in that spirit you can continue to expect me to write straight from the heart.

Azmat,

It takes a lot of courage to talk about what you talked about.
There are few good points in your article.

Children are innocent, wild and fearless. They enjoy normal emotional spectrum from being free with no boundaries to engaging in sporting activities with concept of wining and loosing as a form of friendly pleasures. For kids every one is innocent and world is non-threatening. Sensory experiences in the world form our beings as adult.

We live in a world where people walk around with masks on there faces and we scare our kids with “Bhoot- Parreet”.” Bhoot –Parret” don’t exist, humans are prevalent and dangerous.

These monsters in form of humans, are hiding there faces behind strong manipulative disguises. Some of them go to the extreme of learning “holy books” by heart, making sure that there useless head banging five times a day leave a mark on there forehead so that they can further manipulate Quran’s claims that people with mark on foreheads are going to heaven.

I am not so sure if these perverted monsters know that it is only a disguise or they truly believe that they are heavenly people.

I am also not sure if being such a pervert is a bigger sin or being a naïve, asleep to life human being, who has all that intelligence in the world and education( religious and social) to do there own deductive reasoning, yet who still chooses to go with the deceptions like “hafiz-e-Quran” or “ Punj waqta Namazi.

I think biggest sin is to believe a sinner.

I am not saying that all religious people are sinners. But if they are flaunting there religion it is a red flag.
Keep it up. You can touch hearts.

Muniza

Azmat,
A good artilce. First of all please do NOT blame yourself that you did not resist him. Perhaps you were too young at that time. Remember he is to be blamed than you. The second point is that please do sterotype religious people, good and bad people exist in every spectra of society.

azmat:

welcome to chowk!

very elegant and understated with almost inaudible sighs that make their point where loud

thunders would have been a mere passing exagerration...

one way to stop child abuse is early awareness...to be imparted by both parents and schools...e.g. one of the things young childrfen are taught here is to refuse sweets or advances from strangers...and if someone touches to loudly yell don`t touch me to draw attention to themselves and that person...

young children are very susceptible to abuse particularly the orphans in madresahs

you are brave!

Well-written article, perhaps with some associated cathartic value for you! (The title “Kati Patang” does not appear to fit very well though and also I think that you could probably have dropped the last paragraph and still it would have been just as powerful (perhaps even more powerful, since it would not undergo a change in tone (switching from the point of view of a child to that of an adult, if you know what I mean!)))

This problem is much more prevalent in the subcontinent than most people would acknowledge. There are many a child predators - lurking around behind the masquerade of outstanding (sometimes, as you show here, even “holier than thou”) citizens, just waiting for an opportunity to make itself available! I am willing to bet that this sort of stuff takes place a LOT more than people would admit. I will even go ahead and bet that maybe a majority of writers and interactors on this site (male, female, whatever) underwent some kind of childhood trauma of the variety that you described – they are just gutless enough not to admit it – especially to themselves – even as at times “the confusion” shows anyway (in countless other forms)!
