Dearest NT:
The problem with your humor honey, is that only you are laughing. Making fun in a derogatory fashion is what you call Humor. I am sorry to inform you, it might fly in your neck of the woods, but for us unenlightened folk, We just dont get it.
Perhaps you are funny in person, but that is yet to be proven.
I never claimed to be enlightened. Allah, Such Kufr!

Dear SS, miriamk, amrita,
Lighten up...goodness! What is wrong with you people? You can`t even fathom a joke when you see one, yet claim to be enlightened?
I`m familiar with all the `P` terms, the pain, the chauvinism and everything else that`s replaced your funny bones and stuck in your throats.
Read Fahd Raza`s A Season of Faith`s Defection which describes your folly perfectly.
What a bunch of ... astaghfirullah!

MiriamK Dear,
I will translate excerpts from Urstruly Urdu Post into English:
here Goes:
Hafiz Shafiq ur Rehman:
Smoking cigarettes, cigars and marijuana along with other indecent activites considered the bulwarks of progressive and openmindedness, the office bearers of these foreign sponsored and foreign funded NGO``s attempted to hold a mixed-gender Marathon Race on Saturday. The Govt as per dictums of law took notice and in keeping with tradition tried to stop it. Like mares on the run, and uncontrollable She-Camels off the right track and misguided, why would these pallbearers of Female Freedoms NGO officers take into account the Police officers and workers.
These men and women have the facility of taking daily baths in the Ganges of Luxury at their disposal. Still, they are afflicted with the worst type of inferiority complex. They are the greediest type of creation. The severe Hunger for three things have placed them in a place of great inequilibrium. They are hungry for Attention, Foreign Currencies, and Fame.
Those in the folds of the secret drinking haunts of the city know that the offices of these NGO` serve as sexually perverted HydeParks for the Sexually afflicted.
These offices are the playgrounds for the men and women who have rebelled from Eastern and Religious Values and serve as Night Gardens of Drunken Merrymaking.
If you stop these sexually depraved people from indecent acts, they start hopping around like a She-Monkey with burnt feet and start bucking like a female donkey in heat. These mischievous individuals want to use the foreign funds from International Governments and Social organizations to create Civil War, Strife and Anarchy in the country.
I CANT GO ON ANY MORE< MIRIAMK. This is such a load of crap.

Ntsyed Sahib,
With all due respect, echoboomjee’s post was a cheap shot. It was to this that Zahra jee and I responded.
Neither am I interested in being part of a polygamous relationship nor a polyandrous one. Quite frankly, one husband would be more than a handful.
As for the other issues ailing your post let me refer you to ShoreSahib #185 who says it much better than I could.

echo, nt, urs [the traumatised trio]
There you go running off into the wild, teeth chattering furiously at thought of all those rapacious women out in the world having sex, popping pills and voting [brrr]. I didnt understand one squiggle out of 178, but I`ll take sajal`s word for it that its the same old same old.
Now Samina`s written what it means for a woman to be treated as an equal. I agree with her and so would most women - yet, I dont see any of the TT responding to that. Tell me this very clearly and simply, without taking recourse to the line ``God told me so`` - do you think men and women are equal? Its a simple question and can be answered yes or no.
My answer is yes. I could have said women are superior coz apparently nature is eliminating men from the pool according to scientific studies much like the one that told nt that women are responsible for STDs [no no, men are not responsibe at all - they were raped by gangs of prostitutes - you know, those rich, affluent, powerful women who decide when they are five that they want to live in a squalid slum and have sex with any old dirty sweaty violent drunk who wants to ejaculate but refuses to to do into a hanky or his hand]. But i didnt.

Help requested. What on earth is Urstrulyjee (#178) trying to say? My limited woman’s intellect is not grasping the nuances here, so I appeal to your expansive male intellect. Not to betray an…ahem…”intellect envy” ;).
But all kidding aside jee my command of the Urdu language leaves a lot to be desired. I know, shame on me. I’ll burn in hell with the rest of my ilk. So what else is new. Please enlighten. Did I miss something, or were there references to certain animals in there?

Re: 181
Dear Ntsyed Sahib,
I think I should point out the first and foremost problem of the many with your post.
Polygamy refers to having multiple spouses.
Polygyny refers to one man, many women as wives.
Polyandry refers to one woman, many men as husbands.
Also perhaps you come from that enlightened school of thought that thinks of women as nothing more than baby producing machines. There is much more to a woman`s sexuality than her ability to produce children.
The freedom to control one`s sexuality and to express it in ways an individual seem fit is not only natural but very therapeutic.
Lastly, If you would read your post carefully, I am sure it is written from Chauvanistic Man`s point of view. I am sure if you could imagine yourself having a vagina, you would realize that painfully stretching it every 11 months as you put is not the end all of female sexuality, better yet ask a woman.

Sumo Sahiba!
Still no commitment to actually do more than YappING from the “Progressives”??? tsk tsk tsk
Instead, the usual Progressive peacock dance about ever-changing lines in the sand continues; at least the bird stops when it looks at its ugly feet.
Considering your short attention span, as per your own implied admission: kindly just tell us where were these
a. assemblies,
b. marches,
c. protests, and
d. discussions
when Mukhtaran Mai’s violators received wholesale acquittal from the secular court?
AND
Why did they not
e. question,
f. interpret,
g. practice,
h. perform,
i. reform,
j. defend,
k. initiate and support the laws regarding
ANY POLICY that relates to them, their national citizenry
AND
Did not demand for the masses of oppressed Pakistani women like Mukhtaran Mai to live with NO FEAR of harassment, imprisonment, torture, exile, slander, and murder if they raised a voice against the prevalent power wielding feudal (the perpetrators in her specific case) and political elite at large?
Is it PRIMARY enough for you? Or are you simply trying to cop out on me?
Mohterma, all the ABCDs you’ve listed serve the lard-assed ABCD elite with no shortage of food, shelter, education, electricity, personal security, transportation and other luxuries in the contiguous Pakistan. By no means these promise, let alone provide, the same for the masses of hungry, displaced, dishonored and oppressed female majority of the country.
While you are assembling, marching, protesting, and discussing the rights to get boob jobs, nose jobs, bleaching, liposuction, and playing mirror mirror on the wall, these women are taken in and looked after by the God fearing segment of Pakistan. At best, the Asma Jahangirs and Hina Jilanis employ them as masis and have them sit alongside their poodles and pooches.
For future references (since you’ve already copped out with ” we have nothing to discuss”) to aid your growth in wisdom proportional to your aging:
Truth is only torturous for the guilty.
Skimming is a habitual trait of the belligerent.
Intelligent beings think and ponder before shooting off their mouths indiscriminately
Reasonable person looks at the straw in his/her own eyes before looking for a hair in the other’s eye.

Polygamy vs Polyandry
I wonder some here, who assert that “polygamy is legitimized/legalized adultery” (without defining any of the words therein and/or the concept of marriage), have to say about polyandry?
Also, I wonder how the medical scientists deduced that female promiscuity causes considerably more STDs than such behavior in male?
Hmmm…interesting! No wonder most STDs, if not all, are attributed to prostitution and legally polyandry is non-existent in almost every society - particularly in secular and advanced nations like US of A and U of K et al.
Anyhow, owing to ``gender equality``, in spite of its ancient roots polyandry should be explored.
While a couple of ladies have sorted out the groceries, kids, and other aspects of such a marriage, I’m sure everyone would like to have their views on the missing but critical aspect of the discussion: Children.
In a polygamous setting, man can impregnate all wives within a span of few days, at the most, if all of them wish for children simultaneously.
What would a polyandrous woman do if all her husbands simultaneously wish for a child of their OWN with their respective distinct genes?
a) consecutive pregnancies immediately one after the other - i.e. 11 months apart? Talk about perpetually bare feet and pregnant lol
b) Or, simultaneous pregnancies of 8 children for all 8 husbands? ouch! Well…miracles abound if one believes in Allah, but miracle are normally exceptions. So the masses of polyandrous ladies are in for labor pains of extreme kind.
A wonderful concept of feminine liberation in both cases, I must say. LOL

Re# 178
Muhtaram Urstruly, You are so full of total and utter Bull Shit. Believe me, I am being nice to you.
Now I have gotten that out of the way, let me address the real issue.
Yet another example of how Pakistani`s twist a simple thing as a marathon.
All the similies in the article are derogotary and female in nature! why not bandar and why bandaria!!! How dare they refer to these brave women, the champion of Human Rights in Pakistan to Bey Mahar Female Camels and Mares. Do you see the problem here. Out of control cattle need to be reined in, last time I checked women were equal to men and isnt she the mother of all men. Actually a woman is greater than men, because she nurtures him in her womb from when he is a piece of congealed Clot as the Quran puts it so nicely, into a human baby. How insulting is to any decent Pakistani man or woman that these same men devoid of any decency and decorum then label these mothers of Humanity as out of control She-Camels and Mares.
Then You, MrUrsSONOTTRULY, have the audacity to publish such filth here. Maybe you should remove yourself from your self appointed pedestal of Uppity High Morality and come down to the real world with real issues. Shame on you.
The NGO`s are doing a lot of good work but we are so sick that instead of acknowledging that we try to find faults but then don`t we always persecute those who try to bring about a change?
When I started a Domestic Violence Prevention Organization in my state for our South Asian women, Pakistani men were to first to say,
``Aap Hamari Bewiyon ko Kharab kar rahi hain , yeh Mental, Physical, Psychological and Financial abuse keh keh kar.``
....... And these are supposedly educated Pakistani`s probably like the one who wrote that absolutely idiotic, not to mention insulting Urdu article that Mr Urs ``SO NOT`` Truly submitted.
If you cant do do good then please dont bring down those who have the guts to try!!! I think Asma Jehangir is doing a lot of much needed good work be it for the rights of women, children or minorities.
If we were able to handle our own problems then we would not need international organizations, THINK about it!!!!
If you dare take the initiative yourself to solve your own problems and if not then sit back and let others atleast try!!!!!!!
My grandmother, the best Muslim person I have known in my life said often, `` Kisi aur pey Tanqeed karney sey pehlay apney Gareban mein jhankna bohat zaroori hai``.
``Before you criticize someone, it would serve you well to look within at your own thoughts and actions``.

ZahraJ: the `old man` whom the other shuyukh were examining WAS one of the awliya I was mentioning! He chooses to live in the most austere conditions by choice: his life is dedicated to pleasing Him. The others were touching him out of respect and for barakah. Kaash ke hum bhi unko choo sakein...
As for why i posted it on this particular topic: i think it went well with the text of my post about how we need to form our own traditional communities; this was an illustrative example.
**
Echoboom is 100% right on the issue of polygamy; it would solve many problems. And it is not something Muslims should be apologetic about--it is clearly mentioned in the Qur`an; it was a practise of Our Aaqa alayhi salatu wa salaam and of the Sahaba and of the Ahlul Bayt; indeed of many of our Pious Predecessors who are our exemplars. Because now the Western folks don`t think it is acceptable why should we care? Our exemplars are not them!
And polygyny is allowed in the Qur`an; polyandry is not. So that answers why women cannot have more than 1 husband at a time. We hear and we obey. Tumam shud.
