Like Archimedes, I once ran naked straight out of the bath into the street; the reason for this............has to be `cause you live in Karachi, the city notorious for power outages.

The title may be considered intriguing by some – but might also be a turn-off for people like me who don’t use words like THAT!

It reads decent. I think you could have made it a little shorter.

[ … when the bladder starts confusing itself with the heart,…]
To pee or not to pee, then becomes the question. Did he or didn’t he – shall forever a mystery remain! (Or did the problem resolve itself spontaneously as soon as the hairy-legged creature showed up?)

big shoe, I`m flummoxed by all the big words you used. Well done on making it to the FP, or is it coming back?

BigShoe:

`Electrica` you might be screaming at top of your lungs when power went off. Well after studying Archimedis Principle in 8th Grade I used to be in bath tub more in delight to observe weight loss by byonic forces caused by displacement of water.

Well,

``Machar ko Toap say Maro phir bhi nahi marta Sala.``

And lastly

It is not clever to recklessly use supply of widely oriented landscape to katha minor phobias following right from childhood.
However the shadows, scary shock of Power off, unconscious belief of inscests crawling nearby are hard ridden off irrational fears of life.
Anyways,
This article is more of a Hard Task to recollect the amazements, aversions, anxieties your brain is processing and encountering .

``But last night was one of those when the bladder starts confusing itself with the heart``

This single line weighs heavier than the rest of the article.

Shoe Big! You are very similar to Azure in your writing style. May be, UAE background has made it similar. Good work. I really liked reading this article.

Thankyou all, Charlie, Khamy, Drlokraj, nb, naushee for your words of appreciation and comments. They are a huge source of encouragement, since this is my firstever (publish-worthy!!) attempt at writing on any public forum, and I thought humour would be just right to start with.

#1 wasn`t that supposed to be a secret cayenne? ;)

#2 BeeJay, your input is cherishable indeed, thanks.

#5 Nadia, it is always interesting to see how many intended and unintended connnotations can be derived from a word, a sentence or a whole article. I wrote it as a bit of pure light humour only, nothing else was called for, but the way you have deciphered it certainly opens up a whole new perspective for the article and adds to the credibility of it. Thanks a lot.

Oooh….eight-legged freak indeed!! I keep a can of raid in my room within easy reach, and if that doesn’t work, then there’s always the trusted ``slipper hurled at point blank range`` remedy…..never fails! The little ugly things! Eew, Eeew, and Eeeew! ;)

Nice read.

hey, cool article / account.

So glad i`m not the only one to see further than the surface, and shadows in the night!

I encountered an almost immortal spider once, in a similar situation to yours.................

One advantage of facing such phobic episodes with in the confines of bathrooms is that no body knows where the spill came from

Shobie - isnt it amazing how much a science nerd can share with a lit nerd? i`d have thought you lot were all used to creepy crawlies and cutting em open and observing their breakfast with interest... instead, it appears you just squish em much like the rest of us. hmmmm.

anyhoo... enjoyable read... keep `em coming!

Shobig - so you see a creepy 8 legged critter staring you right in the face, and your scientific mind starts fathoming the ``deeper`` meanings of that spider?! my first instinct would have been to let loose my bladder right there.

i can only wonder with amazement what you would do on your wedding night. i hope you get right down to business, instead of looking for scientific or metaphysical meanings in what sprawls on your bed.

Nice and pleasant read. A refreshing change from the typical pseudo-scholarly blabber that typically adorns the front page.

Boss,

Loved your self-deprecating humour, made my weekend!

Your target practice reminded me of a similar obsession we had been sucked into a couple of years back. Never short on the innovation front, our blokes added many improvisations to the seemingly boring game of darts. There was speed darting - three or four people standing behind each other, shooting the dart and making way for the one behind, as quickly as possible. Then there was power dart, desire to split the board wide open prevailing over accuracy. I never participated in the blindfolded darting...pockmarks on the door that was 3 ft from the board indicated it must have been `adventurous`.

hey big shoe!
very very very refreshing!! good one yaar!!

``as if I had always been keen to be this close to an eight-legged freak! (Not to mention, I have had closer encounters with two-legged freaks innumerable times!!) `` - i suppose reference to your chinease housemate!

``I once ran naked straight out of the bath into the street`` - what a mystical sight! dread the thought of it, but the possiblity does lie there!

``So I sneaked out of my bed, as smoothly as I could, so as not to unveil my intentions to the unfortunate brute`` - and i hope you never used such language to describe your future wife as you would find yourself squashed beneath the bata chappal!

Hallo... nice one! I fear the dark and the light sometimes at the same instant, then I convince myself that the little spider, ant, lizard, whatever, is more afraid of me than I am of it. Makes me feel better. So instead of a desi chappal or sandal, I find a way to get the bug off the wall and out my front door into the yard. BUT... sometimes I think, what if the significant other is still lurking? Oh no...

Someone seems diving in the depths of his imaginations, enjoying unrestricted full swing, crossing all barricades which quite often daunts with open arms, exploring forward steps that got fabulously paved in a narrow sharply aligned and concentrated way as the thoughts proceeded. Excellent Man, Hands up to appreciate. Keep it up!!!
