Agreed with most of the song choices on this page, but not all........
I like NFP`s writing and remarks... but sometimes it feels like , with his sarcastic remarks he is considering himself too much over the top and others (especially targeted musicisans) as brainless rants..... for some it is true but not for all......... and inclusion of such good number of patriotic songs in his list makes me feel like he has some sort of prejudice against patriotic songs.... doesnt smell very good to me...... especially this statement
``singing about Pakistan as if it was a popular angel and hoor resort besides the rivers of milk in heaven.``
is somewhat humiliating to Pakistan.

Well, that leaves Fuzon, mekaalhasanband and aaroh in the safe zone. Comments anyone?
and anyting about indo-pak collaborations?
I have one more thing to say - Its amazing the underground scene is active in Pak - bands are a great thing - to be part of, to watchout for etc.
India`s band culture is almost non-existent. Even if they are around, its very difficult for them to make their presence felt.
Keep it up - keep writing, singing and presenting your thoughts, ideas etc
Cheers

This nerve wrecking ``noise`` and shrieks produced by the so called young and aspiring artists can not be called music.Where have rythm and melodies gone?.After Nazia Zoheb,Vital Signs, Arshad Mehmood`s composings and Sajjad Ali there is no one in near sight who can genuinly prove his worth.Fuzon is a good change otherwise there is a ``balatkaar`` of sangeet going on these days in the name of music.
If you have a ``feel`` for the thing you can create music out of the steel and iron.Remember that movie where the guy creates a tap dancing group out of construction workers?

only, i think dino and mishi khan are nobodys in the world of music... making a crappy one timer non-hit does not make a singer

it`s a shame how we pakistani`s can`t recognize our talent and criticize it instead- to the extent of categorizing some of the best songs as the worst ones.
Most of these songs are sung by new comers, who have tried very hard and succeeded in being what they are today. I agree everyone has one`s own taste, but one must try and appreciate pakistani music instead of humiliating it.

I can imagine the look on a pop star`s face if told that his album or song is being written about by Nadeem F. Paracha. I mean it can actually kill the poor pop star!!!!!!!!!:))

Yes!! This is THE list...agree with you 100% ( and in the same order as well!) ..it makes me cringe when the RJs play the song on different FM channels these days and can`t stop saying ``oh what a wonderful wonderful song and the video is so amaaaazing`` ...*barf*. I seriously can`t wait to see this list on THE NEWS some day...soon hopefully!

Very much the signature DT sound. It seems that they have tried to play it safe this time. Good listening though. I would place it somewhere in the middle of their albums, and would still prefer ``Scenes from a Memory`` and ``Awake``.

I think I have been out of touch, and need to catch up. :)

Ahmed, NFP has already done ali azmats album review here on chowk and The News ...
babray, no idea what you are talking about I think you are very much confused about where to stand on the NFP issue.

It is an interesting list, although I have heard worse songs from the Pakistani pop music scene. :) Nadeem, why haven`t you reviewed any new Pakistani albums? Ali Azmat`s solo album is out. I checked out a couple of tracks, and wasn`t impressed. I am atill waiting for Aamir Zaki`s album (10 years and counting). I heard Adnan Afaq`s solo is almost complete, but no one is willing to release it. What happened to the Eccentric Circle? On a side note, did anyone get hold of Dream Theater`s latest album Octavarium which was released yesterday? I am listening to it right now.
