Aurangzeb -- wasn`t his mother a Hindu and his uncle Jaswant Singh or Jay Singh......or was he the 17th son of Mumtaz Mahal that killed his mother...will someone please?

Aurangzeb was one of those ruthless conquerors like Alexander.

Aurangzeb`s obsession -- to conquer all of India -- now what`s wrong with that -- he wanted his business to expand -- by hook or by crook -- was not a Hindu basher in particular -- in bashing he treated both Hindus and Muslims equally well....

he cut the throat of his own Muslim bother and sent the head to his own father -- he emptied his treasury bashing and killing in conquering the two Muslim Kingdoms in Deccan -- total causalities of 26 year war: 500,000 dead and wounded.

Shivaji was an upstart ``pahari chooha`` -- not my words btw -- who happened to be a Hindu -- and Aurangzeb the killer of his own upstart Muslim elder and younger brothers -- just did not like that...

...so he sent his trusted relations Jay Singh and Jaswant Singh to convince Shiva ji to accept Alamgir, the world ruler`s dominion or else -- but Shivaji wanted her own dreams of conquests -- he wanted to be an `irreligious` Hindu king -- now what`s wrong with that -- and he succeeded -- but did not live long to eat the fruits of his hard-earned kingdom -- Auraangzeb outlived him by a long margin -- got hold of his son king Shambaji if not his father -- killed him and annexed the Shivaji kingdom into his Empire....

there is a Persian proverb reserved for people like Alamgir -- Nesh-e aqrub nu uzz paye keeN ust -- muqtazaye tabeetush eeN ust......the relationship between Aurangzeb and Shivaji was not a high fluting Hindu versus a Muslim issue of 2006...

it was the nature of the beast that brought them together in conflict......more or less.

Ranjit,

Only time Iranians invaded India was when Nadirshah did and only time Arabs invaded
India was Mohammed Bin Kasim did.
It was always Afghans and eastern Turks who invaded India.
Right?

Madaniji,

Also the only way Pak can ever beat India in war is if they can convince the Afghans and Iranians to help them. Historically, the Afghans and Iranians would come and battle Rajputs/Sikhs/Marathas. Unfortunately, the Paki punjoos have totally alienated the afghans and iranians. So they too like India more than Pakistan.

So how can you imagine defeating the Indian army - a combination of Sikh, Rajput, Marathas, Gurkhas, other Indian hindus/muslims?

Re:ahmedmadani#8

Madaniji, the Pakistani army does not even have enough helicopters to fly to Kashmir, let alone take over Indian Kashmir. Comparing Mughal Empire with Pakistan is like comparing a prized stallion with a lame mule. As my friend Salim Chauhan says rightly, Mughals were Indians. We Indians accept with pride the strength, vitality, the majestic glory and the cultural accomplishments of the Mughals. They intermarried with Rajputs and took the best of Indian and Central Asian culture to create a majestic empire. Pakistanis on the other hand are just very ordinary punjoos who have no accomplishments - no strengh, no vitality, always losing to everyone, no culture, no interest in knowledge. In other words they are just a bunch of paindoos. They lost Bangladesh of all places. Imagines losing militarily to Bengalis, the least martial race in the subcontinent. Now they are going to lose Balochistan, not because of Indians, but because no one wants to live with the paindoos.

Even the mohajirs, who wanted to create Pakistan in the first place and consider themselves as the heir to muslim rule in India, want to leave Pakistan and rejoin India. To tell you frankly, just a couple of our Sikh army divisions can take on the entire Pak army. Once the Pakis see the Sikhs, they start peeing in their pants anyway.

Aargh! whats with the bad plagiarized Shivaji articles.

Shivaji was a significant figure in Indian history. He was the Mughals bete noire and someone who showed great intelligence and personal bravery`. But the reason for the decay of the Mughal Empire was the fact that it was too large, too centralized and had not seen any technological development.

In Bengal there are nursery rhymes telling children to run because the bad marathas are coming. The Marathas were hardly a popular figure in their times and were feared by Hindu and Muslim kingdoms alike. They pillaged and plundered like the best of them.

`` Aah, the Hindus are now turning to their `great` warriors like Shivaji--the irony is that in this same article the author admits that `Alamgir never lost a battle`. Some great hero this Shivaji must`ve been--for inspiration which is fair enough; if we Muslims write in praise of Hazrat Alamgir then all hell breaks loose and we are termed fanatics!

Hazrat Aurangzeb Alamgir was one of the few Muslim rulers after the first 4 caliphs who was both King and Saint. subhan Allah!! ``

Any reason why the Mughal Empire did not survive after him ? You could not even name his successors.

I am puzzled why Pakis are so bugged with Shivaji. Were they under the impression that only Muslims fought in medieval to post-medieval India? Why can`t they accept a fighting Hindu in India`s past? Weren`t Hindus Indians too? There were in fact many fighting Hindus.

# 1,

I am glad too. India, is first and foremost belongs to Hindus/Hinduism. I hope the majority in my country realize that and take the necessary steps to establish that.

But Miles to go before we sleep..

Thanks,
