1. In a free democratic nation, free speech ought to be valued. Your play should be staged in India, if you have met all other Indian legal criteria. In the interest of full disclosure, please do respond clearly to Veeresh. In the immoral words of NHK, you would not be very polite if most of what Veeresh has to say is true.
2. Importantly, you chose to ascribe the banning of your play exclusively to the undeniable hatred for Pakistan and Jinnah that many Indians have. Yet, you must know that India has regularly banned creative plays on all sides of the political spectrum, particularly in relation to the issues of partition, or communalism.
So, kindly consider whether, hiding behind some noble causes, you slid down the path of dishonest tripe and blatant demogoguery, aiming to press all emotional buttons, by fair means or fowl. There are established writers on this site who do this every fortnight. Yet, after years of incessant, hard work, they have not persuaded more than two Indians of the wisdom of their views.
So, can your approach form a solid basis for promoting peace and building bridges between people and between nations?

ana,
Yes, his infamous escapades with his victimized secretarial staff tell us that NHK has a charming immoral side. Possibly, the succulent pleasures of regular immorality are more alluring to immoral folks like yours truly than the unbearable prospect of dry immortality ever will :)

Stuka : ``Exactly. So what is the moral authority by which India gave lectures to the world on democracy and freedoms (while ofcourse holding a begging bowl in the hand)``
Chutiye...this is 2005 not 1955. Days of begging bowl are over. Indians now brag about democracy , freedom and globalisation. But who cares what a 2-bit hospitality guy like you thinks anyway. Aukat kya hain teri ? You are just a neutered street dog barking at the stars.

*itch!.Try staging a play about Osama in the US ,you coward and then talk to me.Pak sponsored terrorism has resulted in the deaths of many indians, both service personnel and civilians.Out of consideration for the families of those fallen, it is up to us, the public , to show some consideration.Prima facie, this play might be about jinnah. But to many indians, it will open up wounds that will not heal.My neighbor is one of them. She lost her only child to a terrorists bullet.Nothing can fill her void. There is a limit to freedom of expression in all free societies. And, rightly so.
I am all for trying to maintain relations with pak, but with yesterday`s incident, i have to pause and think. The LeT is a pak sponsored terror network with tentacles throughout south/east asia and the middle east.Their goal is to spread the cause of islamic domination and nothing else. You will be the first to be gotten rid of , if they lay their hands on you, and you have the balls to talk about India in such derogatory terms.I pray for the day when we have a strong leader who will not be afraid to teach cowards like you a lesson.Thoo.

[Why the hell does one have to submit a script of a play to the Delhi police? Authoritarian Bastards.... ]
I think you should not be comparing India to America as far as free speech is concerned. All democracies, including the USA constantly monitor and modify the rights of its citizens. About what is permissible, and what is not, under the current circumstances in that country.
For example, the Patriot Act is far more restrictive than any legislation currently in India (after POTA got scrapped). Muslims in India who are constantly cursing India as a non-secular, repressive society would be unceremoniously kicked into Jail in this highly democratic America if they start blaring their prayers through loudspeakers at their mosques EVEN ONE TIME A DAY. In Bihar, the High court judge that protested the loudspeakers had to request a transfer instead.
Look at the current rights you have in America under the Patriot Act. The government can do pretty much what they want to you if they want it. This loss of freedom is the price we pay for security against the jehadi bastards.
And if any Indian playwright were to write and actually produce a play that criticizes Muslims about a million different legitimate issues, lefties would be out screaming bloody murder. And all muslims would be baying for blood. Riots would break out. Politicians heads would roll.
And types like Stuka would be in the front with their megaphones condemning the HORRIBLE government that ALLOWED such a thing to happen.
THIS IS WHY YOU NEED POLICE PERMISSION TO STAGE A PLAY IN INDIA.
