Farzana –

“I am a bitch. And you, woman, are a bitch too.”

I was justified when I was five
Raising cane, I spit in your eye
Times are changing, now the poor get fat
But the fever’s gonna catch you when the bitch gets back

Eat meat on friday that’s alright
Even like steak on a saturday night
I can bitch the best at your social do’s
I get high in the evening sniffing pots of glue

I’m a bitch, I’m a bitch
Oh the bitch is back
Stone cold sober as a matter of fact
I can bitch, I can bitch
`cause I’m better than you
It’s the way that I move
The things that I do

I entertain by picking brains
Sell my soul by dropping names
I don’t like those, my god, what’s that
Oh it’s full of nasty habits when the bitch gets back

This is an excellent article and way too subtle...vintage you.

Re: # 42

May be it has something to do with the ORIGNAL SIN....

Where according to the Bible..... `` EVE ...`` a woman was MORE to blame for the downfall of ADAM and Co....

were you inspired by this song farzana

BITCH
I hate the world today
You`re so good to me, I know
But I can`t change

I tried to tell you but
You look at me like maybe
I`m an angel underneath
Innocent and sweet

Yesterday I cried,
Must have been relieved
to see the softer side

I can understand why
you are so confused
I don`t envy you
I`m a little bit of everything
all rolled into one

I`m a bitch, I`m a lover,
I`m a child, I`m a mother,
I`m a sinner, I`m a saint,
I do not feel ashamed,

I`m your hell, I`m your dream,
I`m nothing in between,
You know you wouldn`t want it any other way

So take me as I am
this may mean you`ll
have to be a stronger man

rest assured that when
I start to get you nervous
And I`m going to extremes
Tomorrow I will change
and today won`t mean a thing

I`m a bitch, I`m a lover,
I`m a child, I`m a mother,
I`m a sinner, I`m a saint,
I do not feel ashamed,

I`m your hell, I`m your dream,
I`m nothing in between,
You know I wouldn`t want it any other way

Just when you think
You got me figured out
The seasons already changin`

I think its cool
You do what you do
And don`t try to change me

I`m a bitch, I`m a lover,
I`m a child, I`m a mother,
I`m a sinner, I`m a saint,
I do not feel ashamed,

I`m your hell, I`m your dream,
I`m nothing in between, You know you wouldn`t want it any other way

I`m a bitch, I`m a lover,

A lot of truth in what you say. The `man`kind has been harsh on woman. Almost all holy scriptures, written by MAN, are not too kind either. God, Allah or Bhagwan are all HE. So are the Prophets, Pundits and Priests.

So I guess, woman has to just rough it out :)-.

The Pakistani government did not care about the evil actions committed on Mukhtar Mai - but it cared when Condi Mai spoke up.

Supreme Court re-opens Mukhtar Mai case, overrides Lahore High Court, orders re-arrest of the 13 badmaash that the government had allowed to go free

[Also sikhism is not totally devoid of many of the old ailments inherited from hinduism.]

Yaar, why blame Hinduism for ills like honor killing? Apparently, it is more rampant amongst Sikhs than it is amongst Hindus. If Sikhs have ``inherited old ailments from Hinduism``, it doesn`t say too much about Sikhism, does it?

While I have nothing against any religion, the fact that some people love to tout (I understand you are not a Sikh) their religion as superior to others` irks me to no end.

Yes I know about Jagir Kaur and what she did ..but the boy was a jatt, supposedly of higher caste than that of Jagir Kaur.

I said comparatively better.Feudal mentality is still prevalent in rural Punjab, but there is no socially sanctioned phenomenon like honour killing. The incidents like that involving Jagir Kaur are not upheld by anybody. She is a subject of disrespect in Punjab and not an honoured lady.
Also sikhism is not totally devoid of many of the old ailments inherited from hinduism.

shobig,

Thanks.I tried to emphasize the same. Its the power which leads to all discriminations.

Re: # 35 Agreed there...but to me gender-discrimination is a sub-category of power-discrimination. In a society where mighty-manouvers-weak is the rule of thumb, you can`t expect gender-discrimination to be effaced. In other words, justice-for-all, needs to prevail if such sub-forces are to be countered and suppressed.

And the sex ratio in Punjab and Haryana. An appalling 830s compared to national average of 936 to 1000 men.

[Their objection has substance, but condition of women is comparatively better in sikhism, though recently their was protest by women against the sikh clergy not allowing women to carry out some of the rituals of gurudwara.]

I`m sure the condition of Sikh women is much better in cities, just like it is for women of other communities, but I`ve read that honor killing is rampant among Sikhs, even those settled in far away lands like Canada and UK are not immune to it.

Of course, the case involving Bibi Jagir Kaur, the SGPC President, who had her own daughter killed because she dared to marry a man (again a Sikh) of lower caste, is still fresh in our memories.

Its the system where survival of the fittest is still the rule. Its still a male dominated society and will remain so till equality of genders becomes a norm. Its the poverty and illiteracy which is responsible for this kind of fate. The sole reason why Ipsita Roy does not get persecuted for her acts is her socio-economic status which has given her the ability to convert her weaknesses into her strengths.Who holds the power is tye key.Phoolan Devi is raped when she is helpless and poor and the same thakurs tremble by just mention of her name when she kills some of them and has power in her hand flowing through the barrel of the gun.
Why single out the female gender, are males not being exploited and killed in the name of caste, bonded labour ,child labour and so on.It was not long ago that five young men were hacked to death in Haryana by the so called upper caste Hindus for allegedly killing a cow(which ,according to the witnesses was already dead and these men were skinning the corpse). If some women are witches for them, lower caste hindus are still``chandaals`` and non hindus ``malechh`` for them, and why not when their celebrated book,Manu Samriti keeps sudras, cattle and women in the same category and advocates harsh treatment to them.
Guru Nanak tried to educate people by asking them to respect women,``so kyoN manda aakhiyay, jit jammeh rajaan``. Even this is not considered sufficient by the more aggressive advocates of women rights.Their objection is that is woman worthy of respect only because she gives birth to kings? What about the others.Their objection has substance, but condition of women is comparatively better in sikhism, though recently their was protest by women against the sikh clergy not allowing women to carry out some of the rituals of gurudwara.

Gender discrimination is still a global phenomenon--the differences are only quantitative accross the countries and cultures.Organized struggle is needed against this discrimination but not through beauty contests and ramp modelling or trying to out do man in drinking, smoking, drugs and being promiscuous.

Farzana:

Witches exist or not but social spoof to humiliate women for bringing bad luck lives in our part of world. With birth of new born daughter the man doesn’t take best wishes and shows his disappoint to the mother as she is the only responsible factor. And many times in that tormented state of delivering baby women gets upset with tears rolling down her cheeks when the news comes in being of a girl.
This stigma continues to play when a women gets married…Either she is a Lakhsmi who brings money and comfort to the home where other half of her life generates or she is the one who has spoiled the merry potentials her husband could get after their union..
If ill-fated she gets widow or her marriage doesn’t hold then she is considered a symbol of chronic fortuneless closed path.
Heavy hearted I have seen in many marriages when widowed/divorced women are still seen as being under shell of curse and are abandoned to even touch or see the bride and even their shadow mustn’t be castled on bride. Wearing colorless simple clothes these women tend to disappear as expected from the crowd when bride is cherished with Henna on her hands. They literally have nothing to offer the bride as they have been fate stricken which could harm this aspect in the upcoming life. Many low voices I hear …don’t invite her on “Mehndi” at least…She do not have kids still…do not let her wish the bride…
May be she had more to present the happiness then anyone else but she is prevented of being showing up even.
The thing continues when a poor lady working in home or living in neighbor is thought to carry bad cravings. She is thought to ruin the food if eaten in front of her hungry eyes or she is green-eyed for successes because of her utter poverty…And such women are kept at a distance just to fill our sacred appetite.

``A surprise is in store: The woman who manages to recreate this whole picture transforms magically from a witch into a b$itch. ``

Searing..............

very nice..............

religions have actually learnt the notions of pure/impure from the bodily fluids............and associating women`s fluids with impurity is another way of justifying the discrimination and the imbalance in the relations of power between the two sexes............branding someone as a witch is just another way to extend this imbalance and justify the criminal use of intimidation , violence and force against women within the traditional family structures..................................it helps men silence their women....................
