#187 you need a decent parser, a dictionary to figure it out mannu404. How come you are calling yourself salim? Are you ``The Salim``, or are you just trying to pinch his thunder ?

#186 {``developing legislation around cyber harrassment?``}
Harassment is when someone bothers you without your permission. On Chowk, YOU CHOSE to log in and interact with people. Most of the time, you abuse them. Sometimes they retaliate.
BTW, the legislation is just developing, much like your cranial contents. :)

#186, {``Are you all at cognizant of the developing legislation around cyber harrassment? Its another animal entirely.``}
Finally, the disease afflicting Tempy has caught up with his protege. I do not understand what she meant in that sentence.
Tempy,
Please stay away from me. Next thing you know, I will be writing bad poetry, completely at a loss for words that rhyme and then vexing my frustrations by writing even worse prose. Let Jamil go to Gitmo and pack your bags for Hades.

Romair,
Are you all at cognizant of the developing legislation around cyber harrassment? Its another animal entirely.
I can refer you to some legal precedents that may expand your understanding of what ``spam`` is...

Romair,
I still can`t get over your argument. Very convincing!
1. Not wearing a dupatta on the head, while reading the news, is considered bad taste, if not immoral, in today`s Pakistan.
2. Any complaint or discussion against this practice is NOT considered free speech, but rather abuse of scant resources of communications, education, print media, that could be better used to propagate the true faith and the enforcement of Sharia Law.
3. Any actions, such as disrupting a marathon or calling the Government unfair, biased, or committing blasphemy, can be considered a criminal act and violators can be prosecuted for assault and battery, hooliganism, and unsportsmanlike conduct. :)

#182, Romair,
That was brilliant. You are very good at explaining things in a clear, logical, and methodical way. :)
I challenge you to make a decent, kind, fair, and objective human out of Tempy. :)

Saminasha #171: ``Nice relavatism there....but the phone book is NOT the internet....and even callers who harrass people are prosecuted for ...yes, you guessed it, harrassment....``
Actually, I would be quite sure that the legalities around a phone book would be quite similar to the legalities around the Internet. Anything in a public domain is fair game. Unless officially copyrighted. Callers who harrass people are not prosecuted, unless they threaten them. Even then it is a bit difficult to prove. The call center industry is, after all, quite successful. Not to mention the fact that I regularly get junk emails from companies, which tell me again and again how I can get my breasts enlarged. Despite my repeatedly telling them that I am happy with the ones I have.........I feel harassed.........But is it illegal?
``Also, quite amusing that free speech to you is not something to be protected and used judiciously, but an instrument of intellectual pygmies in the fundo world to vent their anxieties and commit criminal acts...bravo! ``
Actually, there is absolutely nothing that I know of, under free speech, which says it has to be used judiciously. I think you are trying to make an argument based on, ``taste,`` while I am making one on legality. As I mentioned earlier, I agree with you that it is in bad taste. And I think it is wrong. But is it illegal? Venting one`s anxities is not a criminal act. It is simply in bad taste. But free speech is not defined on taste. In fact, the whole purpose of free speech is to ensure that one person`s definition of, ``bad taste`` is not allowed to dictate to others.
Do keep in mind that certain political groups in Pakistan think that girls not wearing a duppata on their heads, while reading the news, is in bad taste, as is, in their opinion, co-education.......And any debate on religion is considered blasphemous......
Freedom of speech accepts, ``bad taste`` as part and parcel of the benefits it provides. So I completely agree with you on the bad taste part. However, I cannot agree with you on the criminal part. At least not according to free speech laws. You will either have to prove that the information is false or that it was not in any public domain to prove the criminal part.........

#175, {`` to describe the fictional and imaginary mrs. psycho…yes the credibility factor… we cannot believe what he repeats…for he is bereft of it…``}
So, Mr. Temporal,
When Mr. Ranger refers to your wife, it is reall abusive. When Ms. Saminasha calls my wife a ``whore`` and worse, she is just referring to an ``imaginary mrs. psycho.`` See, that is what I mean about your hypocrisy. No amount of literary exposure and feedback record-breaking FP articles will cure you of this chronic ailment.
I don`t care what you believe, but when you, or your profane protege, abuse my family with profanity or excuse that profane abuse, I will let you have it - without regard for your old age or mental state. I think godot is quite right about you.

{``Also, quite amusing that free speech to you is not something to be protected and used judiciously, but an instrument of intellectual pygmies in the fundo world to vent their anxieties and commit criminal acts...bravo! ``}
Dear steamed lady,
Callers make a call to the person`s number. On Chowk, people post their comments and responses to a central repository that is visible to all. The post does not ring in your house or place of work. It`s almost analogous to courtesy calls from people annoying you with mortgages, long distance service, and ``free`` vacation packages. Of course, you always have the option to be registered for not being contacted by these nuisances. Even then, the annoying phone calls ring your phone, an annoying post on Chowk does not. Phone calls are addressed to you, Chowk posts refer to supposedly-anonymous nics.
For the record no one has come close to ``harassing`` you ever since your photo was displayed on Chowk. I think the young gentleman might have inadvertently done you a big favor.
So now you are going to define free speech and HOW it should be protected from ``intellectual pygmies.`` Isn`t this so similar to men ``protecting`` their women against all harm? Something that you have been lamenting all these years. Just words from you do not make your opponents ``intellectual pygmies`` and isn`t ``venting anxieties`` what you do all day long on Chowk? :)
Sorry, but unlike Chowk, you don`t hold all the cards in real life.

Soulat sahib #148:
I am afraid that this has to be the worst site on the net in terms of level of interactions and content. I come here to get some kicks and I think most other people do that too as the chowk staff has consistently failed to apply its own guidelines. Then we have some chowk favorites and they can do any thing without any censure.
... a few junoonis… use their own time and money to maintain this site…while it is easy to blame them for what happens here it behooves us also to be fair in our criticism of them … on and off they have made appeals for volunteers…how many of us heed that appeal?
..now briefly
example 1:
khamkwa is one of the sharpest inveterate and good natured rabble rouser…he stirs the pot in his own way and nobody has escaped the blows from his sharp witted scalpel…including this writer…he is whimsical and does not single out anyone specially … an equal opportunity rouser
lately sammi does fire the first salvo…but where were you and i when the psycho was spreading his obsessive hatred her and her family`s way?…this is absolutely not a justification for her assaults and her use of the word whore in a derogatory and demeaning way which goes against the dictates of humanism and human-ness to describe the fictional and imaginary mrs. psycho…yes the credibility factor… we cannot believe what he repeats…for he is bereft of it…(gawd... i just pushed that pavlovian button;)
…their association with chowk? i’d say it is a conjecture on your part... unless they come forward and admit it...
example 2.
i volunteer for chowk…there is no conflict of interest in the area i volunteer and my interactions here…also....let me assure you if chowk staff decides i choose between one or the other i will gladly make my choice then and adhere by it
example 3.
take this up with chowk staff directly
example 4.
speaking for myself i have spoken on and off the record
