#87 Zeena Ben: Good to know of your family`s effort for Pakistan. If your grandmother was born in Sri Nagar, did she join the National Conference party there or did she move out of Kashmir and became a Muslim Leauge activist in Hazara? How did your mother become renouned?

Mannyd your gibberish belongs on a article about the racist fake Gandhi. An article mentioning Jinnah should not be sullied by your presence. Get lost!

#89: POker Bhai: You keep this up, you are soon going to elbow out Behram Ji, the authentic Manto to Manto`s Jinnah. HAHAHHA!
What will poor Behram Ji do with his investment in sugarcanes then? Ply Manto with them?

MANTO: Please show evidence that Indira`s husband was not a Parsee but a Muslim, who was publically forced to become a Parsee. This is what I know about Feroze Gandhi:
``In her years in continental Europe and the U.K., she met Feroze Gandhi, a young Parsee Congress activist, whom she married in 1942.``
Do you have to resort to lies now to malign Nehru?

Mantolives, another brilliant article. Great job.

Indira Gandhi was NOT a woman, who participated in the Gandhian movement. Her mother Kamala did, who died becuase of TB contacted in jails. Her father, the devious communal Brahmin worried about Indira and tried to educate her through letters written from jail.
It is obvious to anyone of Manto`s intelligence that his was not a constitutional way to attain independence. He was too stupid, too communal and too `inauthentic` (to quote Manto`s Manto Behram Ji) to follow Jinnah`s lead.
Jinnah and daughter suffering ever so stoically in England:

Not only that, I am so,very proud, my grand mother , who was a MATHS teacher struggled for the freedom of Pakistan by motivating her students day and night. My grand mother along with her colleagues used to go town to town for helping people to get together under the same Pakistani flag.
I still remember, My grand maa(we used to call her,Maa Jii), used to tell us all those stories , how she worked hard to help mobilise the freedom movement. She was from Sri nagar Kashmir, She was a very strong lady who took all the stand for poor oppressed women in her society by helping them through her teachings and through her moral and financial support. She made difference in so, many poor Pakistani ladies lives. And, Yes, She was a real feminist, who lived for her cause , and dies for her committment.
My mother latter followed her foot steps and became a renouned woman , who never surrendered in front of patriarchy and she stood up for women rights till the day she died. She was a brilliant educationist, who always took her times to educate poor girls of remote areas. I always used to accompany her. She was Phd in education. I feel so, proud to share this with other interactors, who stand up for women rights, practically by doing good deeds for those women, who really need us.
I hope I will continue following foot steps of my grand mother and mother. Thanks

To set the record straight on Jinnah and her daughter, the following is my information.
``M. C. Chagla, who was Jinnah`s assistant at the time, recalls: `` Jinnah, in his usual imperious manner, told her that there were millions of Muslim boys in India, and she could have anyone she chose. Reminding her father that his wife (Dina`s mother Rattanbai), had also been a non-muslim, the young lady…replied: `Father, there were millions of Muslim girls in India. Why did you not marry one of them?` And he replied that, ``she became a muslim ``
It is known that when Dina married Neville, Jinnah said to her that she was not his daughter any more.``
So much for dissent and freedom allowed by Jinnah to his daughter.

#82 Rawdust Sahib: Thanks for the information in that trivia. If true, it shows Mr. Jinnah, the secular Hindu-Muslim unity man as trumpted by Manto, loved the phoney power, bequethed by his English masters, more than his wife, who was made to go the nuclear option and tragic estrangement from her family.
I have on the other hand read somewhere that Jinnah and Ratna Bai eloped together when she was fourteen and got married. The marriage was annulled by the efforts of her father Sir Dinshaw Petit, who was rich and influential enough to get the records expunged.
Jinnah may have been a man of integrity. It is sad that his wife and father-in-law never saw that side of his.
Anyhow any father with a young daughter will be well advised to keep an eye peeled for a Jinnah among his buddies.

Manto
Saminasha has a very limited feminist approach. All she can think in her lil mind set is repeating the same mantra again and again, ``feminist, feminism, blah, blah``. feminist this ,feminist that.
Her lil mind is stuck like an old record player or CD to move forward, she is all rusted .
She is not a big fan of Pakistan. She is American. I have been seeing her posting cut and paste about feminism here on chowk. Has she ever done any betterment for the poor Pakistani women? Has she even done anything for any woman , who is in need? Has she ever gone to Pakistan to help those poor oppressed ladies in remote villages? Never and here she is directing FV to do this and do that. WoW. You are wonderful, Saminasha.
By repeating same mantra of being feminist again and again here on chowk is absolutely DIFFERENT than to practically go and help those women in need.

mannyd:
i kno this bizarre bit of trivia about ruttie jinnah`s marriage. basically, ruttie Had to convert to islam as they couldnt have possibly gotten a civil/court marriage. The reason being for court marriage both had to renounce their religion or something. Jinnah couldnt have gone for this option as he was the member of viceroy`s some sort of legislative council ona muslim seat!. so ruttie jinnah had to go for .. err well.. the nuclear option.. that invariably made her daddy pi**** off big time. wese, i asked the esteemed behram sahib one time about his sugardaddyisms and Jinnah. i got a predictably unambiguous ``No!``.

Before I turn my gaze to you let me repeat (along with the word that was inadvertently omitted) the following from #72.
``Your attempts (and I hold Saminasha partly responsible) to drag the lady in question through these muddy terrains – kicking and splashing (and for all one knows, exclaiming phrases of the unspeakable variety) – are to be frowned upon – by the (usual) sleepy chowk staff – but probably won’t be – because of the characteristic that I just described. ``
I do not mean to break your day-dreams Saminasha, but I was not referring to YOU by the term ``lady in question``!
Any other questions, or comments?!!
