#14 did I ever state there are no rules in poetry?
but coming back to your original question, in my opinion, no, poetry isn`t just throwing rhyming words together, no it doesn`t require any tangible form, and no, rhythm is not mandatory. I am clueless as to what you are hinting at. If the above submission does not seems like poetry to you, and or is not poetic, come right out and say it, I have no issue with that. constructive criticism always has a welcome.

Re: # 13
See, it isnt right, and it doesnt suffice, to say that there are no rules in poetry. There, most certainly, are. Agreed, all may not be followed at the same time; liberties ARE taken. But that doesnt mean there AREN`T any rules.
Poets have been known to have worked without rules, and to have created beautiful pieces, but that doesnt mean that the Exception is the Rule.
Tariq.

thank you dear readers for all your comments.
#12, yes, it is the weaker ones who are always taken advantage of. That, I have found, is the general rule in in life.
as to what is poetry, perhaps nothing. perhaps, everything.

Interesting experience. I also went through something quite similar.
Nice article. But puhlease!! Do we have to call it a poem?
Which brings me to the question, what is poetry? Is it merely throwing in a few rhyming words together, at the end of at least a few lines in the poem. Doesnt one require some meter, some rhythm, for a thing to be called a poem?
Please dont mind, Miss... but its really our lust for name and fame (shared by all of us) that these buggers capitalise on. And those ones of us who really have no talent are easier prey to these gimmicks.

I read this poem with a smile
My tummy rumbled after a while
For a pizza should I hurry
Or settle for just a curry
A hot steaming bowl of noodles
On the menu I drew doodles
Decisions, decisions the brain wondered
Just hurry up the stomach thundered
At the poet`s name I had a look
And I knew what I had to cook
A feast that king could hog
A truely regal Raj Bhog

For a pizza should I hurry
Or settle for just a curry
A hot steaming bowl of noodles
On the menu I drew doodles
Decisions, decisions the brain wondered

ok now be honest everyone, did you or did you not eat or think of eating pizza after reading this?
I took mohammedamjad`s advice and ordered chinese.
Beej, u ok? had a long night after the gandhi thing huh?
sachinukum, betcha my silver bowl is bigger than yours ;)
jang, pie in the sky, my oh my, after this pizza, what shall I try? some roti with aloo, some gobi ka phool, stuffed oysters with spinach, wouldn`t that be so cool? I`ll write another poem, this time with a pen, and see what you offer from there in your den.
saminasha, was that a snigger or a question? I don`t do questions.

Rajeshwari:
welcome to chowk
Pizza isn’t worth a poet’s touch.
is there a subject off limits i ask
as i struggle with the top of flask
and spill coffee all over the mask
and Beej who is delayed with Babson task
will shortly be here to take to task
while I indulge in gleeful bergamask
