Ain`t it funny how Pakistanis try to pass off a completely revisionist version of history in which they were unwilling victims, dragged kicking and screaming into arming a militant Islamic movement and radicalizing their own population in the process...

And it`s even funnier to see the shock on their faces when nobody outside Pakistan buys that version...

Some terrorist acts in the West committed by certain extremist elements and organizations, which profess Islam and operate in the Islamic world,


Here`s why Islam gets blamed: A majority of people in (supposedly) devout Islamic Pakistan and Saudi Arabia think Osama is a hero...now if what he did was unislamic, you`d expect him to be as unpopular as, say, Ariel Sharon...but no...the ummah homies think highly of him..and spare me the BS about how this is a backlash against US policies.. the french hate US policies but they don`t like Osama..

Funny how the ``muslim youth`` wasn`t angered when a certain country was using a radical islamist militia to gain strategic depth into a neighbouring muslim country..


The West should note that all extremist elements in the lands of Islam are in contravention to Islamic teachings and they are not in conjunction with Islamic precepts


If Saudi Arabia held free election today and OBL was allowed to run, he`d do what Raegan did do Mondale.. you know that and I know that... OBL`s actions aren`t against Islamic teachings..maybe his methods aren`t..

Rubbish, CIA did what Zia and his ISI asked them to do.......the original plan of equipping Jehadis and promoting the Jehad rabble rousers was of Pakistani ``intelligentsia``........the blame if any, lies squarely on Pakistani army and its ISI, infact Mush who handled those desks knows whose plan it was .................the Americans had no idea about the Afghan situation....................now these blame game are being played by the Paki army to divert the attention from their crucial role in promoting Jehadism in the region..........................

I feel the crisis in Islam is of leadership. While you had selfless leaders who led the society to change and development, who practised moderation and were open minded, now there are shortsighted leaders who have very little vision, who get swayed by personal gain and momentary glorification and do endless harm to thier own community.

Another problem is that most Muslims dwell too much on thier past glory(whatever that may have been) and are unable to get over their being sidelined in todays world. True, Muslims have no say in their own affairs leave aside the affairs of the world, but it is fair to ask why has not democracy been able to strike roots in Islamic lands? Why are Muslim people not able to get a fair, representative government that can give good education, better roads, electricity and peace?

An excellent article by a noted columnist and a professor at a foreign (American or Canadian?) university. A great hope for the future.

It is construed in certain circles of Western intelligentsia that as things had gone badly wrong in the lands of Islam as compared with Christendom in the course of twentieth century the political Islam, antagonized by the economic conditions of the masses has turned against the West, mainly Christian, for a vengeful onslaught that is relentless, coercive, unprincipled and dogmatic in nature and contents.

where did you learn to write like this? ….an opening outburst of 64 words and like the warren commission report’s single bullet….flies above the cloud, goes low above tree tops to escape radar detection…. turns at angles like a drunk driver at high speed….in which both the car and the driver lose sense of direction and become one with the whirling dervishes…in the end achieving nirvana of sorts…where O great master wordsmith did you learn to write like this?

Dear T. No offence taken, however, I would rather you had read the whole article and gone beyond the first paragraph. Our force of conviction is the best university which enriches our wisdom and enlightens us about our surrounding and our responsibility towards it.
