I am surprised by Pakistani reaction to Ranjit`s comments. Only few months back there was a Tsunami disaster in India and on same chowk same Pakistanis were gloating. Ali_1 was among the front runners at that time. Funny thing is that this time he is the one getting most outraged...
None of these Paki standard bearers came out at that time. What is so special now?

re: Indian help during this Quake
This, despite reluctance of Pakis to take any help from the wily Indoos!
http://www.dawn.com/2005/10/14/top7.htm
Pak asks for more blankets from India. India is not wily anymore!

Truly, Pakis excel themselves sometimes.

``think many of our Indian colleagues are greatly underestimating how well-respected the Pakistan military is in Pakistan`s Kashmir. Take it from me,...``
Ha, ha.
Take it from this moron.
Does this guy even know his left hand from right?
Miyan,
You may be a Kashmiri (which i doubt; i think u are a Pathan or a Punjabi settled in POK now calling yourself a Kashmiri) but that does not make you anymore wiser.
(My views on Kashmiris, and their own views, are exactly opposite to the situation in Bangladeshis. Kashmiris want to join Pakistan.)
I heard that 4000 terrorist rats were killed in the Quake, some of them being hardcore. They have all been united to the 72 houris promised in the Qoran.
After this quake and what Kashmiris have seen as Pak Army`s poor response to a tragedy, i doubt many would want to join Pakistan. What has Pak got to offer? They have seen it all during the quake.

We do not know what the truth is but IA is not so much enmeshed in local politics as the Army ruling elite of Pak are. So, there possibly was a genuine attempt to help with the bunkers. Why should Pak elite`s first response be to deny it happened and not welcome this as a good step. This again proves what i am talking about. Ordinary soldiers of both countries may be friendly but the rulers do not trust each other.

re: Kashmir peace: a chimera after this quake?
For 50 years Indians and Pakis have said across the table trying to find a solution to the complicated Kashmir issue and have repeatedly failed.
Why?
One thing that stands out during this quake gives some reason why?
It is a fact that Indians and Pakis do not just trust each other. I bet the same thing would have happened if, instead of Pak`s Kashmir, India`s Kashmir was affected and Mushy had offered his Army`s help to India. I bet India too would have refused.
So, the basic thing lacking is trust. It is all O.K to play cricket matches and felicitate each other during good times but it is during the tragedy that true character of people come to the fore and i am afraid both Indians and Pakis lag in that area.
Pak`s dictator decided that image was more important than saving lives. Indian Army, nay even NGOs, could not be seen helping the victims in Pak`s Kashmir as it would shatter the carefully cultivated image of Indians being rapists, criminals in that part of the world.
And so, a great opportunity for cooperation was lost.
Would India and Pak at least cooperate during the reconstruction phase? There is little hope. Pak`s terrorist infrastructure on POK lies in shambles but the wisdom that comes after such a tragedy and suffering and that says that it is all over except for love and brotherhood will have to wait another day.

(......... based on the vitriol and venom displayed by some indians on this board it is not difficult to understand why our forefathers chose to part ways with them ......... also, i am inclined to think that william tecumseh sherman was right when he said, ``the only good indian is a dead indian!``)
Ha, ha!
To put things in perspective:
``William Tecumseh Sherman (February 8, 1820 – February 14, 1891) was an American soldier, businessman, and author. He served as a general in the United States Army during the American Civil War (1861–1865), achieving both recognition for his outstanding command of military strategy, and criticism for the harshness of the ``scorched earth`` policies he implemented in conducting total war against the enemy.`` (Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Tecumseh_Sherman).
Sherman, if he did make that statement, was most likely talking about the American Indians, now also called Native Americans.
So much for hatred that sometimes blurs commonsense!
Let Pakis not forget that MMS, India`s PM was among the first to offer help. Pak`s dictator sat on that offer for 48 h calling it a ``sensitive issue``. NOw, Indians did not send that earthquake. Your dictator botched up big time. Who should u be angry at?

`` This earthquake is a divine retribution against Pakistanis for their misdeeds against India. You people have given enormous grief and misery to countless people in India in the name of jihad, driven Kashmiri hindus out of Kashmir and attacked our places of worship. Every time your jihadies massacared innocent hindu families or killed our soldiers, we Indians would curse that you are wiped out. The collective curses from everyone in India has finally worked. God has listened to us and wreaked havoc on you. ``
Esarthquake is not going to prevent anyone for sponsoring jihad.
`` Now you can feel the pain of losing innocent people, the same pain that you inflicted on us mercilessly for 20 years. The precise location of the earthquake is such that maximum casualties are on Pok, Northern Punjab and NWFP, the heartland for jihad. This is a sure sign that God is on our side and for you to learn a lesson. ``
Most of Pakistan Punjab and NWFP were unaffected.
`` I dont know why Indians are being compassionate now. Lets learn from Ghanznavi and Ghauri. Pakistan is our enemy and anything bad happening to our enemy is good for us. In fact, this gives the perfect opportunity to change the demographics in Kashmir. In the name of earthquake relief, let us move out muslims from there, relocate them to other parts of India and let hindus move into Kashmir.``
Most of Afghanistan including Ghazni and Ghori were pretty miserable places to live for the past 30 years.

to all indians:
mushy`s apprehension on indian help was not unfouonded. Many indians like sridhar bemoaned the lack of cooperation between the two nations even at this juncture. I too felt it was no time for playing politics and joining hands on humanitarian basis. some efforts were made, like returning back soldiers who had inadvertently crossed into each others territory.
But the incident that truly displeased me was ``leaking`` of reports about indian soldiers crossing the LoC to help pakis. I do believe that indians must have crossed our to help paki soldiers/civilians but whats the point to publicize it, understanding the sensitivity of the situation. Its just defeats the cause of trust and mutual respect. This kind of oneupmanship doesn`t bode well for the relations between the two countries.

Ranjit:
Can i ask you the reason behind the divine retribution against people who perisjed/or will perish in mumbai floodings, Tamil nad tsunami and the several other natural disasters that are going to hit india over the next decade?
what kind of god kills innocent along with the guilty? calling this disaster as a divine retribution is as foolish as branding katrina as allahs anger towards evil america.
innocents in india have suffered from the jihadi establishment which is supoprted by pak. but what has that to do with the earthquake and its subsequent devastation? the epicenter could have been in indian part of kashmir. paki mindset could change with or without a natural disaster. anyway, the political tussle wrt to aid and personnel just shows that we have a long way to go before jihadi stop pouring in.
also, its article 370 which prevents indians from settling in j&k. this article is supported by the various ``secular`` non-kashimiri parties, with a clandestine non-kashmiri muslim agreement.

//....difference? Our mullahs usually don`t pose as secular liberal humanitarians as fanatics like Ranjit do....//
What difference does it make? Until a few years ago, entire paki nation - mullahs, seculars, libarals, humanitarians, men, women, charlie, his aunt - everybody used to cheer-lead jihad against evil hinuds.........
Ranjit`s comments are in bad taste - but those are just words [more like an impotent rage].... but you pakis actually planned, financed, executed a religion-inspired massacre against Indians over a period of 15 years... and it is still going on, as we write..... even the hinud quake victims were not spared by your people....
We all understand this is tough-time with thousands dead and millions homeless... so just stick to that topic... don`t get uppity at this time.....
