Dear Chowk Interactors,
Please accept my deepest condolences on the tragedy of New Delhi terrorists bombings. We must continue to condemn this violence. There is no justification whatsoever for the killings of innocent civilians.

Dear tahmed32:
The latest Time magazine (October 31, 2005) has an article regarding Green Power and everything that we have been discussing on this site.
I have absolutely no idea as to how one gets involved in Pakistan`s economy. I was hoping that these 1% of the Pakistan`s Upper Class that are here at Chowk could help develop a strategy. I was also hoping that Romair would help me with this endeavour.
Yes, I will definitely inform all of our Chowk friends as soon as I find how to get involved. [i would be interested in learning about your what you find out, though, about the economics of investing in solar energy in pakistan.]

``But as far as India and Non Alignment Movement is concerned, it is Ram NAM Sat Hai! ``
That was a clever play on acronym NAM DM sahib...LOL
I do not know if Pakistanis know it is the chant used in the Hindu funeral processions.
You seem to have a very keen interest in and knowledge of Indian politics for somebody in Canada. Did your work involve you with the governments and politics there?
Thanks for your sympathies Salim Sahib about the blasts in Delhi. we do have some relatives in Delhi. Will try to call them soon.

Gujju,
With Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam as President of India, your country is now Dar-ul-Islam. It is now hilal to offer Friday prayers and pray for the wisdom and health of the Indian leader. Also, judging from some rumors about Mushy`s dietary and liquid habits, India may be more of dar-ul-Islam than Pakistan.

DM Sahib, {``India also has the largest Shia community outside Iran and alienating Iran also means a potential political cost to the Congress Party, especially in the state of Uttar Pradesh.``}
First I want to offer my sympathy to all my Indian friends, especially those from Delhi. I hope that all their families and friends are safe and sound. When will these horrible terrorist murderers stop?
DM, very interesting viewpoint in your article about India`s shift away from Iran. I think that you are making too much out of an isolated geopolitical tactical decision that was probably effected by US ``persuasion.``
I think your concern about alienating Indian Shias is highly off the mark. Indian rulers have been making it a habit to work against Iranian interests throughout history (Akbar, Aurangzeb, and even some modern ones like Manmohan Singh. Pakistan doesn`t care about alienating its Shias, why should India?

“but then u dont even consider any body else other than hindu indians as ur own.”
The sad fact is that most Indians on this site also share this with the usual suspect. At least he in his foolhardiness says it as it is. Many Hindu Indians like Alephnull, Sadna etc. would just romp around it and imply the same thing in several different ways.
Any society that considers 20%- 25% of its own as traitors and enemies in entirety, just doesn’t have a whole lot to stand on moral grounds on any other issue.

``It is their religious duty to bring back the glory days of 800 year odd Islamic rule on the country and covert it from dar-ul-harb to dar-ul-Islam.``
#230 Posted by Ranger on October 29, 2005 12:46:17 pm
Let us be very clear about this. Islam is no ordinary religion. It is a religion that preaches , commands and directs its followers to toruture , maim , ravage and kill those who do not consider `allah to be their only god and mohammad as the prophet`. Islam is particularly severe on idolators and polytheists. The whole purpose of muslims is to establish Islamic rule all over the world. When in a minority , muslims breed like pigs , and conspire against the ruling majority . For muslims living in India , idol worshipping polytheist hindu dominated India is dar-ul-harb , a nation of war. It is their religious duty to bring back the glory days of 800 year odd Islamic rule on the country and covert it from dar-ul-Islam.....which means converting all kufrs into Islam or killing those who refuse to convert , in co-ordination with their brothers from across the border. This process has already taken place in Kashmir.
To the civilised world , this is terrorism. But for muslims , they are merely following their religion.

Your post was a disgrace.
Let us be clear about one thing. Terrorism is not about religion. It is about spreading terror. Some terrotists might take refuge in religion only to make their cause more believable. People (like u) who invoke religion on such occasions are no different from these terrorists.

NDTV Correspondent
Saturday, October 29, 2005 (New Delhi):
A series of explosions rocked Delhi on Saturday evening, killing at least 65 people and leaving scores injured, some of them critically.
As many as 20 people have been killed in an explosion in Sarojini Nagar market and 15 others have reportedly been killed in Paharganj.
The markets were filled with shoppers doing their last-minute purchases for Diwali.
Most of those injured or killed in the explosions were ordinary people out shopping in the festival season.
Suspects detained
At least ten people have been detained following the three blasts in Delhi.
Five of them were picked up from the New Delhi Railway station and others from other railway stations and bus terminals.
It is now believed that high explosive devices suspected to be RDX were used in carrying out the blasts.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, in a statement from Kolkata said the blasts are a clear case of terrorism.
``No terrorist can win against India. India will win the battle against terrorism,`` the Prime Minister said.
Red alert sounded
A red alert has been sounded across several places in the country including neighbouring Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Mumbai and Kolkata.
Home Minister Shivraj Patil called a high-level emergency meeting at 9 pm (IST) to review the situation and discuss security operations.
National Security Adviser, M K Naraynan, Cabinet Secretary B K Chaturvedi, Home Secretary V K Duggal and Delhi Chief Secretary S Regunathan also attended the meeting.
The Home Minister said it was too early to pinpoint who was responsible for the blasts.
``As to who is responsible for the blasts, we will not like to jump to any conclusion. The first priority is to give relief and succour to those affected by the blasts,`` the Home Minister said.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi visited the injured in hospitals. Extending her condolences to the families of those killed in the blasts, she described the incidents as acts of terrorism.
``Terrorism is a menace that we all have to face and fight together. This is not only a phenomenon here in our country. This is something that the whole world has to face. It is important that we all together fight it together,`` said Gandhi.

Delhi Blasts: In pictures
People have been urged to remain calm and move away from crowded markets. Police have ordered all markets in the city to shut down.
The first blast took place in the main bazaar of Paharganj outside the New Delhi Railway Station at 5:38 pm (IST).
The explosion ripped apart the medical shop outside which the explosive device was planted in a two-wheeler.
Scores of people have been injured in the explosion, eyewitnesses said.
``I was talking to a client when the blast took place. The blast took place about 20 metres away. Right after the blast, people were running here and there,`` said Sajjan Singh, shopkeeper, Paharganj.
``My son was right behind me, he was injured in the head and in the smoke I couldn`t see where he fell,`` said Joseph George, another shopkeeper.
The police later barricaded the area and a shop-to-shop search was carried out for any more explosives.
Innocents killed
Around half an hour later, at 6:05 pm (IST), the second explosion took place in the busy Sarojini Nagar market in south Delhi.
Diwali and Eid shoppers were making their last minute shopping when the bomb went off.
``There was a huge explosion as if LPG cylinders had gone off, it wasn`t clear what happened. The market was very crowded,`` said an eyewitness.
Almost instantly, a fire broke out and spread quickly. Within minutes, the fire trucks reached the market and it took 45 minutes to bring the blaze under control.
``The market was completely crowded, there was no place to move. I was standing outside my shop when the blast took place. Ten people died immediately,`` said a shopkeeper.
Blast in Govindpuri
Another explosion was reported from Govindpuri in south Delhi. The explosion took place inside a bus, and four people have been critically injured.
There were at least 35-40 people travelling on a bus through Govindpuri when the conductor spotted a suspicious looking plastic bag on the bus that did not belong to any of the passengers.
He immediately asked all the passengers to get out of the bus.
``If it wasn`t for the conductor and the driver, all the passengers would`ve died, I want to know what happened to them, I am grateful to them,`` said Afzal, an injured passenger.
There were just five people on board when the blast rattled the bus. But quick thinking and equally fast reaction of both the driver and the conductor saved the day for the passengers.
Both the driver and the conductor suffered injuries. The driver is in a critical state.
