Glossing Over Bad Patches of History

Nobody glosses over history. It is so powerful a part of identity that people, instead, invent it wholesale even where it doesn`t exist.

#2 O wheel of time, how can you say this with a nic like yours? You who have seen it all.

Those who realise that Time never stands still, also realise the stories never stand still - they are constantly renovated, reinvented and modified.

However, we need to be absolutely clear that : There is never a past, and the future is many and undetermined. The present is only one - in fact THE ONE.

Since it is the one, and should be memoryless - -> the many futures are dictated by the choices made in the now (almost like a memoryless markovian process)

Note: some memory is retained with a covariance factor - hence the many stories (all having similar expected values), there will be a bias in the selection of choices. The key is the elimination of this bias. That is when progress occurs.

All these apologies have more to do with geopolitics than any real anger or remorse. It is similar to Pakistanis whining about Indian Muslims but who look the other way at Burma or Sudan or Iraq or Turkey.

Life IS chaotic and in human experience, seemingly, nonparametric. It may be that there is nothing `out there` to model in the first place (what with, in repeated experiments, `perfect fit` models proving to be most distant from actual data). We might just want to understand life, living, and Time at the level of description.

Then, for all practical purposes, the simple mathematics of say, Tukey`s robust methods would suffice.

Heck, that could be one reason why poorly-educated, `rule-of-thumb` villagers tend to be less `biased` (and much less harmful) than the sophisticated, `big-global-ideas` urbanites whose minds are bubbling with imaginary parameters!

Reminds me of how history has been doctored back home (Pakistan-India).

That looks like some sycophantic Paki official`s foreign policy report to their beloved General.

On one hand we have these fauzis presenting a great image about their tolerance to their past (I have heard that Mushy still wakes up in the middle of the night with 1971 nightmares) and potificating their brand of `tolerance` to the rest of the world ..........and on the other hand they actively connive with the terror leaders of Jaish, LeT and Al-Qaeda........................I do not think that the Indians are impressed by this piece of trash............
