Polygamy and jihad
It is a waste of time to talk about a piece of skin, how about something more important which is murdering people.
Latest research has shown that jihad originally was not a central theme of islam and it was much later a kaliffa khusru whu made the concept of jihad popular as he and his friends and relatives were running short of females in harems. He sent the young to be killed to create a female surplus and that is how jihad became central to islam.
The females are kept away from teh streets and as the bombs go off, most killed are men creating a female surplus to meet the demads of polygamy.
Not many are aware of teh polygamic foundations of jihad.
If teh US and other western countries have to manage the jihadic terrorism, the focus has to be on changing the laws related to polygay in muslim countries. If polygamy is banned, then jihad will stop.

re: #88 ``as for mukhtar mai, don`t worry about her - she is doing okay now and i am sure she would be willing to donate some money to set up a home for some half-burnt brides in india .................``
tsk tsk. How very crass. ``she is doing ok now``... is she? How would you know? Money is everything for you people isn`t it?
Ever seen a half-burnt bride that you can coffee-table ping-pong so glibly? Filthy pigs.
It`s all very well to throw salt on each other`s festerings, without descending into the absolute abyss of inhumanity.
#95, are you sure $1,000 will rebuild an entire house?
There was a Sunday Times article that Gov. of Pakistan is giving $10,000 to people who lost their homes in the earthquake. Either that`s an outrageous lie or the $1,000 is a typo (?). Also, you did not specify which agency is doing the home rebuilding, so where to send donations? Incidentally, I received a flyer from a friend about earthquake relief and tried to go to the Human Development Foundation website today that sent out that flyer, but the link doesn`t work (www.hdf.com). Could someone here tell me if that is a legitimate agency? Thanks.

Ozer
Apologies for misusing your board. But can`t resist Ahmed Mian`s #95
Ahmek mian #95
As you are posting it everywhere, here is one more suggestion - On this Eid, all of you should SCREAM. Louder you scream, more people you will be able to help.

Ozer Kardesh,
Nasilsiniz? I have been in Istanbul for less than six months now. My entire life is one long diplomatic mission to bring peace to my fellow human beings. I am not working for any government, but suffice it to say that I am involved in constructive efforts. :) My wife is very religious and our social agenda revolves around her religious group, her friends, and social work. Since I have been here I have not even tasted the wonderful Efes beer that I used to enjoy so much before. Anyway, keep up the good work. I really enjoy your powerful literary abilities. Please don`t let the envious detractors affect you. Bira istiyorum.

re: Pak`s true face
People around the world are being exposed to Pak`s true face through Mukhtaran Mai. Here are people`s view points:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/talking_point/4626449.stm
Excerpt:
(For the first time, I`m disgusted with myself for being a Pakistani who supports President Musharraf. By barring Ms Mai from leaving the country - and now her own house - the Pakistani government has again reverted back to its old role of treating women as lower entities. The court`s ruling against Ms Mai has proven, yet again, that Pakistan has evolved only for name - and there as been no internal improvement in the country when it comes to the treatment of women. And yet, we are told that there is no oppression, there are no double standards, and the president is supporting the women of the world. If this is his support, Ms Mai was better off without it.
Benish, Washington, DC, USA)
Meanwhile, Pak dictator happily contemplates buying more war gizmos. Who is he going to defend in POI when most are homeless and many are dying. A good article from Ayaz Amir:
http://www.dawn.com/weekly/ayaz/ayaz.htm
(CONFRONTED with a rising chorus of calls to cut wasteful defence expenditure — emphasis on ‘wasteful’ — the Pakistan government goes ahead and signs a billion dollar deal with Sweden for the purchase of six SAAB early warning aircraft.
It could be forgiven if this deal had been signed before calamity struck our northern mountains. But, no, it was signed in mid-October, a good seven days after the biggest quake in Pakistan’s history. Hand it to the powers that be for brilliant sense of timing.
Calls for cuts in defence spending, even when the case for doing so is rationally argued, are not calculated to amuse any military establishment. But this is a matter of balancing priorities. What’s the more pressing need at present, funds for earthquake relief or a billion dollars down the drain for an early warning system perhaps of great utility in its own right but which at the moment looks silly and unnecessary?
If we are dismayed by the tepid response of the international community to our need for relief assistance, we would sound more convincing if we had our own priorities right.)
There is the answer to author`s question why the world community did not do enough. It is probably disgusted with Pakistan.
