Ahmedmadani sahib is a character all his own. It may take longer to get to know him, but the effort can be well worth it.

i think if someone can memorize an arcane book in a foreign language, medicine would be a piece of cake...at least with memorization of all the latin based terms.

Re: # 65
LAHORE: A Christian student has filed a constitutional writ petition to the Lahore High Court (LHC) for instant action, under Section 151 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), against the policy of awarding 20 additional marks to a Muslim hafiz-e-Quran (who has learnt the Quran by heart) candidate for admission in the MBBS and others, saying that it was discrimination against minority students and a violation of fundamental rights granted by the Constitution of Pakistan.
ROFL.. :-))
Now someone would jump in and say how ``rationally`` the advances in the ``medical field`` can be attributed to the ``document`` because it is said that you can even goto China to obtain knowledge..
LOL..

MantoLives:
terms easily understandable to the common
Could you please do me naacheez a favor and explain the basic tenets regarding Ali being Asaas or something like that in Ismailiya faith. What exactly is Ali`s equation with respect to Allah? and how do exactly Ismailis back it up ?
Thanks.

in a theocracy, things like this are common..
Christian student files petition against 20 marks for Hafiz-e-Quran students
* Asks LHC to quash policy or make parallel policy for minority students

The petition, which is the first of its kind, has demanded the LHC either abolish the policy or make a parallel policy of awarding 20 additional marks to minority students for MBBS admission on the basis of their religious knowledge/study.
Qandeel, a Christian and daughter of Benjamin Robert Sultan, filed the petition through her counsel Rana Aamir Iftikhar and Waseem Ahmed Shahzad against the King Edward Medical College principal, who is also the Admissions Board chairman, and the Punjab Health Department. She has also asked the LHC to grant her a stay and restrain the Admissions Board and Punjab government from commencing MBBS 2005-06 academic session classes in medical colleges of Punjab till the final disposal of the petition because the selection of students for admission in medical colleges had been made on basis of discrimination and ignoring the rights of the petitioner (minority representative).

mohar11 # 61 and ranjit # 47,
I think you got ahmedmadani wrong. The lack of grammar, you have been complaining about, is actually his distinctive interacting style. You will find very few people whose posts are more entertaining than his`.. I would follow GT`s suggestion and look into his old posts..
I consider hamidm as the funniest interactor on this site and now we have him on record saying ahmedmadai is his favourite.. so there is surely something in him,

Do not judge ahmedmadani so quickly......Take your time, read between the lines......He is extremely intelligent. Dont believe me? Go through some of his earlier posts (start from say a year back).

Masadi Sahib
Catchy is the nickname of another Arab teenager (pre-teens may prefer to stay far away from Chowk) who graced the lands of Pakistan, and lived among the natives of that region for a while. Now he shines the light of rational and scientific Islam in the fetid world of Chowk`s unplugged section.
Apologies for the confusion.
Since we all have to live together, one hopes that the dozen or more proponents of rational/scientific Islam, who pop up on Chowk with great conviction and impressive religiosity during any week of the year would find arguments genuine and compelling enough to convince (a substantial majority of) others in their own group.

#57- you visited the site http://women.rationalreality.com, got the ``financial transaction`` part of the claim from there and now are deliberately reproducing the claim found on the site here, without giving the answer that follows on that site- extremely dishonest to say the least. For those who are interested the answer regarding women`s testimony regarding ``financial transactions`` that wasif2 deliberately does not reproduce here is found at the site mentioned above- regarding Mahr, my answer is clear. I`m not concerned here with people trying to deceive themselves and others by not comprehending a clear answer- too bad.

masadi... It will be quite sufficient here for me to adopt hindvi`s (# 52) contentions. Consider them my response to your ``learned`` retorts. Also, you might like to know that in Koran in matters relating to financial transactions the testimony of two women is equated to one man`s and that too only if it is accompanied by the testimony of a man. And btw...you didnt answer why at all that mathematical acrobatic of giving women half and then balancing it with husband bringing ``huge chunk`` is there at all in Islam. Why ? Please answer. And please don’t pick and choose what to answer and what not.

Wasif sahab,
I am happy that you feel that way but this is precisely why there has been little progress from point A to B. Those who find enlightenment are not ready to put their new found wisdom in terms easily understandable to the common Muslim mind.

The scientific system is not my system, neither is it the system of the ``catchy pre-teen Arabs`` as you sarcastically put it, it is what is used by the scientific community when they try to discover the truth in ALL fields- summarized, it involves
1. Logical framework 2. Empirical evidence 3. falsification } done purposefully and systematically
What each section implies, you have to discover for yourself, do your homework so to speak.
Here is an application in the case of the Quran,

``The Quran itself recommends reason and reflection, the only way to get to the truth is the system of science..``
Masadi Sahib
It will be extremely helpful if you could lay out the basic steps in this system of science, in a form that could be implemented by a lay man or woman.
Currently, every young Catchy (presumably an Islamic enthusiast pre-teen of Arab origins) is convinced that he and he alone has figured out the rational and scientific Islam. Others, including all he Shaikhs of Al Azhar and Maulvis of Deoband, all far less knowledgeable individuals who are leading people down the wrong, quite ``unIslamic,`` path.
That`s quite a mess of a science, or scientific thinking, to put it most charitably.
You have a great opportunity to put all this confusion to rest, at least among Chowkies, an intelligent group that should have no difficulty understanding your methodology.
