``Other problems: mysticism influence (of a certian kind), women, socializing, lacking of nerdishness.``

extaract ``mysticism influence

Talking about mysticism, well my friend indians are far more superstitious than pakistani`s,

``lacking of nerdishness.``

That`s incorrect, paki`s are the nerd every where coz It`s in every pakistanis` blood which shows our love toward knowledge.

``socializing``

Because we know the pain and sorrows of our parents effort in sending us away from them so that we come back as they woant us to be, NOT TO FORGET them.

``women``

Don`t tell me indians like same sex marriage.

I think the conclusions are true when it comes to most American universities. You find Indian in every CS grad department, but hardly any Pakistanis. I`m afraid Pakistanis are more inclined towards getting a job, acting cool, instead of a making a contribution to the field. Speaking from experience, I ditched graduate studies to go to a law school.

What`s missing in Pakistanis: desire to propel forward together, desire to do anything intellectual

Other problems: mysticism influence (of a certian kind), women, socializing, lacking of nerdishness.

well carpejuglum no where in my last post i mention ``mother tongue`` i said mother language and that`s urdu if you are pakistani. All i wanted to say was Pakistani authors engineers despite being highly professional are not accepted by the world especially the west when compared by indians due to 2 reasons. Indians are scattered all over the world like insects, Indians do propaganda on pakistani whereever they go ( I have experience all that when i joined my university in canada). Your`ll find Indians inside the bar every time you go out. The good part with indians are they at least try to blend with different culture and keeps their faith tradition a side which WE can`t do, & there`s a saying here, that if you go out people will know you better, and that`s what we pakistanis don`t do, it is pre programmed in our head that our parents had sacrifices a lot for us and we are here in canada to tudy not to mess around. We do part time jobs here so that we could send some money to our parents back home but our neighbours ``indians`` don`t even know wheather their parents are alive or dead, this is somewha similars in west as well and that why indians and west get along well, they share their technology and research work very well.

I would agree that perhaps your comments are unecessarily harsh. Also from what I see the backgrounds of indians and Pakistanis going abroad is fairly different. For most well to do Pakistani`s a foriegn education is the only option and they go for their undergrad degrees. Indians on the other hand tend to prefer to do their undergrad education in India. Most Indians go abroad for grad school and are more focussed academically than the undergrads.

you find indian attanding every lecture because they are hopeless and have lots of time with them talking about pakistani literature, pakistani authors are far more brilliant then any one could expect the problem with us is that we LOVE our mother language so much that we don`t translate our work in to English and that`s the reason why we don`t recieve NOBLE PRIZE in literature.

Abdur Rehman is being overtly pessemistic in his approach, some thing that stems out from our own national character of ridiculing our own kind at the expense of some serious PR damage. The Indians and Chinese are 8-9 folds our size, perhaps we need to compare ourselves more with the Indonesians or the Bangladeshis to start with.

Unnecessarily pessimistic. I know about some pretty good universities, and they all have significant numbers of Pakistanis in them.

I think your evaluations are based on probably yr limited interaction within yr university.
I have had the opportunity to travel widely and to work on different projects with the MNC i am presently attached with and regret but my observations are a little different.I have attended various conferences, seminars and workshops (both professional and purely academic)in Europe and Far East and have always found Pakistani expats taking part and being really enthusiatic about these events and one should also keep in view the ratio disadvantage when comparing with Indian and Chinese populations.I find yr conclusions a little unfair.
