I find many firm Secularists have a deep seated dislike for Islam, more so than any other religion, essentially because of the fact that it does offers an alternative system.

Muslims may have made mistakes in the past, but they have nothing in their history comparing to the carnage secularism has inflicted on mankind with it`s communism, Fascism, holocausts and pogroms.

That`s a very simplistic notion. Modern seperation of Church and State came out of centuaries of evolution in political philosophy among the West.

By your example, Saudi Arabia and all other Gulf countries should have beeen some of the most secular countires in the World.

In fact, even India is going more and more towards right at a point of time when a significant % of population (read Hindus) is moving upwards economically.
