Wonderful article, and I regret visiting Lahore and not having spent enough time exploring the `androon sheher`

I loved this write-up. It is a well-written article - perhaps the best I have read in the recent past on this web-site. It is very hands-on and it is real genuine stuff - straight from the heart! Lahore sounds highly appealing all of a sudden! The timelessness of some of the images is striking - it won`t be surprising if those pahalwaans and the Heera mandi alleys continue to look exactly the way you describe them a hundred years from now. The contrast of the ``sacred and the visceral`` being located next to each other stands out. (Although not in the same league - one feels some of that in Washington, DC where the famous 14-th street corridor of ill-repute is located very close to the White House.)
You have really captured the images with words better than the photographs could have done it. Chowk editors should FORCE you to write more! No excuses.
Good job and thank you!
