For enlightenment to arrive, criticism will first have to be clearer, more specific, more precise.

Re: # 6

Well said. Islamic fundamentalism is based on lies, just as are christianity and Hinduism.

Let us hope that all these ideologies, which feed off criticising each other, fades away in an era of enlightenment.

This article is not an apologia for Islamic terrorism; the purpose is to expose the hypocrisy in the modern world. It is not written to felicitate Al-Qaeda, but to underline reasons for their recruitments.

While Muslim mobs burning Danish flag is a headline news in America, that the same newspaper refused to publish caricatures of Jesus was a minor news in the
inner columns; while everyone is aware of hideous Muslim terrorists, how many know Luis Posada Carriles and Orlando Bosch - they bombed a Cuban airline in
Venezuela killing 73 passengers and performed many other terrorist activities, their extradition have been demanded by Venezuelan government backed by many
other Latin and European countries, but they have been proud citizens of Miami, under Presidential pardon of Bush senior.

As for Islamic Chomsky and Arundhati, there are more criticisms of Pakistani hierarchy and Islamic despondency every week in the columns of Dawn`s triumvirate of Ayaz Amir, Cowasjee, and Irfan Hussain, than found in most other countries including western.
Chowkies from outside Muslim world would be well advised to delve a little in Islamic mainstream print media, and come out of their own ideological reveries, they will be surprised with the amount of self-criticism evident there. Nobody sympathizes with
Osama, but there is valid aversion against America, not because American people are evil, but because of their Government`s fascist policies, and not just in Islamic world, ask any Latin or South American country, you`ll be enlightened.

As for the solution of this despondency, I thought it was obviously stated in the article, there is urgent need for democracy, from the people by the people, no American intervention in autonomous countries` policies -such as American bombings in Waziristan, and holding of $55 million by Israelis and encouraged by U.S -the monthly amount of taxes and tariffs rightly belonging to Palestinians. The obvious need for education, health care, and jobs, until these needs are taken care of, any youth can be easily convoluted towards mass hysteria and anarchism.

Listen you idiot.............you have a crap social theory which has been copied from the one already circulated by the neo-marxists and the critical theorists from Adorno to Habermas....the only difference is that instead of the marxian utopia you are trying to sell the Islamic utopia to the Ummah.......................absolutely CRAP!!!

#50, ballukhan, you have got your answer, now why don`t you shut up and move on. Rewording the same question, putting it in a dhoti instead of pants, i.e. altering the questions appearance, does not alter the question. You might have all the time in the world for such games, I don`t. Might I also suggest that you respect this thread and its author. The discussion here is not about interpretations of ``Shariah``.

``Once that happens and people share in the wealth, education and healthcare improves,``

I knew that there would be such riders from closet mullahs like you

`` the ``decadent shariah``- an invention against the Quran will fall away by itself, ``

This reminds me of the ``withering away of the state`` theory of our old marxists. Does that mean till the above happens Shariat would be necessary???
Is Shariat necessary for effecting your so called re-destribution of wealth??

``and people will see the beauty of the Quran as they fall away from the crystallized social tradition``
You mean that once the Suras are understood in their ``original`` context the expositions and context provided by the Hadith would become redundant...........and then people would stop practising the sunnah??

``that was a direct effect of the ghetto existance that the US elite had forced upon them, and the resulting lack of basic human necessities. ``

I do not see how the crytstalization of the Islamic society in the past is linked to US hegemony which only began in the last century???

Let me reframe the question from nasah saheb`s opinion as under:-

Is Shariat necessary for muslims in the present age or not?

#48 ballukhan writes <<< Do you agree or disagree to the assertion of nasah saheb that

``in fact its time for us Muslims to get rid of our decadent Sharia business in our OWN Muslim majority countries -- it has no place in the mainstream of the modern religious social or economic practices....`` >>>

We need to get rid of US hegemony in our areas, that is what we need to get rid of, and then totally detach ourselves from the US dominated global economic system. Once that happens and people share in the wealth, education and healthcare improves, the ``decadent shariah``- an invention against the Quran will fall away by itself, and people will see the beauty of the Quran as they fall away from the crystallized social tradition that was a direct effect of the ghetto existance that the US elite had forced upon them, and the resulting lack of basic human necessities.

Then he writes <<< please answer in not more that 100 words.......... >>>

Yes I know, your brain (system) malfunctions when confronted by more than 100 words. You rely on unthought one liners seperated by huge gaps ................................

Dear Mr. Asadi,

Would you care to just answer one question:

Do you agree or disagree to the assertion of nasah saheb that

``in fact its time for us Muslims to get rid of our decadent Sharia business in our OWN Muslim majority countries -- it has no place in the mainstream of the modern religious social or economic practices....``

please answer in not more that 100 words..........

#41 Raw_Dust writes <<< kaalchakra:
did you just deliver a checkmate by bringing in Terrorist Almighty Jalla Jala Luho? :-) >>>

Not at all, Kaalchakra is arguing from a point of total error. He assumes that people killed by natural disasters exceed those killed by human factors, hense his claim of ``supreme`` as against ``higher`` terrorism, which is erroneous. Over 40K get killed everyday due to human caused distributional deprivation, that many do not get killed every day due to natural disasters. Add to that 40K all the wars conducted, crimes etc that are perpetuated by a social system maintained by the elite among humanity, and you can easily see who emerges as the higher/supreme terrorist(s).

Next, his claim that God is causing those deaths (be it for the sake of argumentation) whenever natural disasters occur is also erroneous. Add to that the fact that these elite have originated ZIP for humankind while God has originated life and provision and your ``checkmate`` emerges as a ignorant brain fart and nothing else.

#45 writes <<< probably because of the state sponsored Islamization of Pakistani Universities and its social sciences research we have neo-mullahs like Asadi who have taken dawah to heights of academic obfuscation................... >>>

Once again this ballukhan person speaks without any information or evidence whatsoever. Ignorance leads to unfounded pride in some even as they argue from a point of total ignorance. None of my social science education took place in Pakistani institutions. If people were to argue after genuine research or effort, one could pay attention to what they say but when people argue from points of total ignorance and then ``confidently`` state their conclusions, as if they have discovered the cure for cancer, that my friends is the neo-Mullahism and ballukhan is the poster-child for that methodology.

respectfully submitted,

you have hit it on the head.

probably because of the state sponsored Islamization of Pakistani Universities and its social sciences research we have neo-mullahs like Asadi who have taken dawah to heights of academic obfuscation...................

it is a phenomenon which could have been arrested if the Pakistani state had stopped mixing religion with the state apparatuses.....the same goes for all those countries which rigorously pursue the agenda of infusing religious doctines within their state apparatuses...........

the Muslim minority cannot demand in the West that the West must follow our Sharia -- in not making pictures of our prophet or draw cartoons and call them Mohamed.......

....if we do insist on that then we are asking for confrontation and trouble for our future generations in European countries….

….we can always choose to practice all our own taboos whereever we are -- even if we are in heaven -- but we cannot compel others to do the same…..

in fact its time for us Muslims to get rid of our decadent Sharia business in our OWN Muslim majority countries -- it has no place in the mainstream of the modern religious social or economic practices....

....it may be too much to ask from a community mired in a millennium and a half old mud pool and enjoying every moment of the mud bath....but to ask the Europeans to do the same is simply ridiculous....

if we want OTHERS to respect even our taboos …... then in all fairness the LEAST we could do for others in our Muslim majority countries -- is to allow their religions and their followers the SAME privileges to build churches and temples and practice their religion in Muslim lands....

.....that they accord us Muslims to ENJOY in THEIR lands all over the world including India, Thailand, and Philippines....

better late than never -- it`s good that finally the Saudi `Wahabi King` now preaches tolerance for other religions -- let’s see if he allows the Hindus, the Sikhs the Buddhist, and the Christians to build their places of worship in Saudi Arabia....as part of that famous Saudi `tolerance`.....

......the world will be holding its breath.....
