Ms. Minhas,
I understand the double standards that your article points out, but I`m of the opinion that we`re missing a subtle yet larger point. It`s important to realize that resources of any kind are limited, and that is especially true of the third-world countries you talk about. It is far easier for health regulations etc. to be passed and implemented in countries that can afford such luxuries, whether it is through a more stable political structure, a more informed public, a better economy, or a combination of the above. Sustainable progress demands rooting problems out from the source, not bandaging them.
What one is to do about that is both difficult and debatable, but people of your calibre are the only hope of many.

The lament of Miss Yoda on Shoaib and Nandrolone is a well justified well written medically authentic very lucid column -- the environmental damage and the space weaponization probably are not the fault of Shoaib miaN using or not using the anabolic steroid.

The Lament of Master Yoda
Powerful they have become, the dark side I sense in them
Grave danger we are in, impatient we must not be
Always in motion we are , our destiny that will be
To destroy the dark force, yet not tempted be
For if we start down the dark path, forever lost are we
Dominate your destiny it shall
Consume us it will.

Shandana, This is somewhat new territory for you. I don`t mean the Last Frontier and all, or even geo-politics. But you`ve obviously been reading up on sports scandals.
Good to see the Shandana Irony still doing its thing here!

Thanks Beej. I read something going on with Pakistani cricket players. A few days ago, the scroll on the bottom of my CNN international about Pakistani cricket, my son asked me if Pakistani cricket team made the playoffs. ``Of course``, I replied.

Yaar, tu kitnaa buddhoo hai!!!
Everyone knows who Shoaib is. He is just another one of those sissy boys who play some sissy game called cricket when they could instead be playing a man`s game called football instead!
I have even done some research on him.
I am quoting the below from another earlier interact. (I must be getting old – now that I am repeating myself!)
“I profess my ignorance that I had not previously heard of this person Shoaib Akhtar. His name sounds like SHOW-AIBE (as in “display your faults”), which appears to have negative connotations. However, the fact that he may be willing to put those characteristics on open display (and perhaps even offer some of them for sale) could also be taken as a sign of forthrightness. Therefore, he appears to have a rather complex personality!
So, as part of my (continuing) relentless pursuit of knowledge, I decided to check up on him. After some careful research (including googling for 5 minutes), I found that his physical looks are okay (what with him resembling a little the current president of India, at least hair-wise, only a bit younger). But I also encountered harsh quotes like “Cricket, being a gentleman`s game, has no role for such arrogant characters”. That really perked me up, since it conclusively proved that indeed there are some “gentlemen” still around (I had thought they had all been shown the door by “gentlepersons”). However, the next line of that article really clarified things for me ``It`s more than a game. It`s an institution.`` Since we are talking about an institution here, why should there be any surprise if we run into characters who ought to have been institutionalized?!”

This reads more like a news bulletin, without the weather forecast for the next 5 days. I like how Shandana ghoom phir kay blame the US for Shoaib’s impotency. By the way who is Shoaib?
Wouldn’t it be so much better to blame Shoaib’s impotency for US’s anxieties?
