Re: # 21
this is not one of my best pieces of writing, I must admit, but as far
as English is concerned, command over it is something I am really
proud of and I am not saying this because I cannot accept criticism or
something...it`s a fact...no way to prove it except that you may refer
to my ilog or other articles on chowk...
i still think ``that put me to deep thought`` is correct but since you
have pointed it out, I will confirm.

I sincerely think that although you meant well by a giving a scathing social critique but your limited command of the english language does not serve your purpose well. Sentences like
``that put me to deep thought`` verily exhibit your limits. I think you should take your article of meandering and disconnected anecdotes and try to conjure up something more concrete and academically refined which tries to comment on the social stratum rather than just make everyday observations. I am not trying to be overtly critical but just imparting some advice that I have gathered through my own experience as a writer.

brilliant!
you painted a very true picture ayesha!
just like i had heard from someone talkin here in Karachi:
``so, which side of the railway line do you live in?``
amazing how people can actually do this!!!

Even though this article makes the point, it comes across as sort of incomplete. The examples given convey the message, but the writer needs to add something like a conclusion to the article.

i dont know how to express this just one language...
but u can have a degree and still be jaahil (ignorant?)
anyway, interesting piece. especially example 1 and 5.
for all practical purposes, modern ideas of education are basically rooted in making you into a (productive) `worker` and not much else...
anyway, an interesting website to check from india:
http://www.swaraj.org/shikshantar/
anyone here heard `they schools` by dp?

To return to the article at hand:

``In other words a so called a moderate muslim who does not strictly follow sharia, is friendly to infidels (Hindoos) , does not believe in Jihad and killing Hindoos infidels who refuse to convert, does not believe in slavery and sleeping with slaves and captured women, is going against Qur`an and hadees, and is an infidel himself.``
Where did you get this from? Are you serious? You know what, they say one who calls a Muslim an infidel may well risk losing his own faith.

This piece reminds me of chowk.
Also, Echoboom is a dyspeptic hypocrite. No credibility whatsoever.
Echoboom,
In what country do you live?

I didn`t know Hindoos were ostracized in Pakistan, even though there are quite a few people like you in our society.
As far as i know, with God`s grace they are doing are doing well. Atleast in Karachi.
