Yes, unbearable pain is no strange thing. What once would have destroyed and corrupted such precious innocence is so easily compartmentalized. What use innocence ask those who can only vaguely hear wonder. But I can't tell which side you're coming down on, do you want your version of the past either, hmm, does the pain give one power?
Like it or no, there will usually be someone who needs a little more than you want to give. (I didn't understand that bit as much as I should have)
