I have travelled and stayed in Swat valley just before the trouble started to hit the land of pure beauty and peace. I could not imagine how such a peaceful valley full of loving and simple-minded Pashtoons could suddenly turn into a living hell that eventually made over 2 million people to flee (and remember this displacement of over 2m occurred in just few days). Hats off to Pak army, people of Mardan, Nowshera and rest of the country who hosted them and arranged for their food and shelter.
Guys, this is the price you pay for staying ignorant, indifferent and often denying that the monster is developing within the house. This is no coincidence of random events and not isolated acts of terrorism by blood-thirsty, throat-slitter Talibans. It is no longer a secret that this is a well thought out, long-term, foreign-funded, multi-dimensional approach to create dominance of a specific religious belief disguised under mainstream Islam and using anti-American sentiments as a vehicle.
If I can find my answers in one day on google then surely you can too.

arjun...
What will you do with girl school in Pakistan( tamil-Pakinadu, English-Pakiland)? Anyhow they will breed jihadis...I support the Talibs of SWAT. They should capture power in Islam-a-Bad and shut down all girl's schools and colleges. The should construct replica of Red Mosque everywhere, to be named in different color- blue mosque, deep green mosque, purple mosque....entire hue of mosque....Pakis are colorful people, they deserve such setup.Long live Talibs of SWAT....

"80,000 female students bear brunt of Taliban ban in Swat
* Govt, private schools unlikely to reopen after winter vacations
* 8,000 female teachers go unemployed after closure"
Women have always been at the receiving end whenever Islam fundamentalists have had their say. Women folk are to live with an understanding in muslim society that they are less intelligent than the male counterpart, most of them are at the time of birth itself(based on their religious script) condemned to be consigned to hellfire and brimstone, they should only look after the house of their man and forget about education, get into the tent that is Hijab, and only produce children so that more terrorists are created to fight for Islam. No doubt there have been excesses on women in India also during ancient times, but then there have been many reformists such as Raja RamMohan Roy, Mahatma Phule, to name a few whose relentless struggle has brought up the living conditions of the women folk to the level as it is today. In fact, the State Governments in India have gone to the extent of making education upto the graduate level for all the girls absolutely free with free bus passes to them to and from their homes.
If Pakistan would have a Raja Ram Mohan Roy, he would be outright tried for blasphemy and beheaded before he stands up to speak. Very sorry state of affairs indeed!!

"As for Taliban, guys like Zaid Hamid tell that India supports Taliban, esp Baitullah Mehsud."
It is beyond comprehension of an average thinking person how the people of Pakistan can absorb the nonsense of this guy Zaid Hamid. More than a defence analyst, he behaves like a communication manager of all these terrorist Organisations. On being cornered, he, rather than trying to answer the queries, keeps scurrying around the arena like a rat and all senseless and irrelevant points like sudras, dalits, Paki faithful muslims etc. become his shields. At one point, in a discussion with Bharat Verma, he outrightly declared that they would be creating more problems in Kashmir to avenge Modi's misadventure!!

80,000 female students bear brunt of Taliban ban in Swat
* Govt, private schools unlikely to reopen after winter vacations
* 8,000 female teachers go unemployed after closure
By Saleem Athar
MINGORA: Government and private schools across Swat are unlikely to reopen when the winter vacations end after a Taliban deadline expired on Thursday – with around 80,000 female students facing a year without classes.
Last month, the Taliban threatened to kill any girl attending classes after January 15, and to blow up any schools where girls are enrolled.
The expiry of the deadline – which did not apply to girls below grade five – has been followed by the closure of around 400 schools in Swat, leaving the education of around 80,000 female students and the careers of about 8,000 female teachers in jeopardy.
Residents are complaining that the government has not responded to the situation. They say the closure of schools has left some parents with no option but to migrate, but the majority cannot afford such a move.
District education officials also said the government had not yet come up with a solution.
The district administration had asked private schools to continue classes, but the request has been turned down. A spokesman for an association of private schools told AFP the resumption of classes was in doubt. “The government has assured us it will provide security, but it is a question of the lives of the students ... we cannot take a risk. The Swat Taliban have already destroyed 122 girls’ schools.

I am here to complain about Swat because the pain of Swatis (and most of the Pakistanis) is that of Indians. We have a common enemy - the taliban/ISI enclave.

funny how this whole thread is filled with Indians telling others how to deal with communal/religious/ethnic violence/militancy...forgetting the fact that India itself has 5-odd (very old) problems of the same kind, 350 million+ people living below the INTERNATIONAL poverty line, the highest rate/largest number of farmer suicide/female infantecide in the world, immense numbers of starvation deaths each year (a trend since the colonial days), etc etc etc...
Do not misinterpret this post though, India should be lauded for its democratic process and its initial land-policies (among other things)...but if we are sitting here to vent unfounded angers (maybe your work didnt go well today, or your mother yelled at you, or your wife didnt cook well, or something, i dont know...) then you really need to find something else to occupy your time...
