Hi Hina, just read this, liked it very much.
Especially the way you sink right into the persona of this character, only to tear it open at the end.

To whom it may concern (and those in my ignore list, yes, you know who you are, you)
oh my God, for displaying the purest form of (what we Desi's call) beghairat-ness (aka shamelessness). Regardless of being ignored and insulted (by, God forbid, a younger WOMAN), they still surface and simmer on this board!.
And OMG (again) for not having a life outside chowQ. You, my friend, have already been awarded the lifetime Bull-Sh*tzer award. Congratulations!. Are you going to thank your parents now (with tears in your eyes) ?
P.S. If there was a speck of shame and self esteem left in you, you will not reply. But I am, of course, wrong. Fire away sunshine!

By the time I finished all the interacts, I had forgotten what the article was all about! So went back and read it again. Love of hometown, youthful idealism, balancing western mindset with home realities, sense of self worth, etc. The idea resonates with many of us , doesn't it? Back in the dark ages, people would frown upon such attitudes as too much farin education gone to the wrong head; now we know better. People mature with age (or so is my firm belief, notwithstanding any evidences to the contrary:p)and life has a way of balancing it out by providing us choices. Hence, when in Lahore (and a Yalie and relegated to driving a Cuore and taking people's words for real regarding casual clothing) stronger tea is what goes well with November rain. Nice job, Hina.
As for the more interesting part of the discussion, I must say I could not find any real reason to hit on/back/at her. Stupid reason would have sufficed but the total absence of any reason is not on. A real misogynist always has something believable up his sleeve; something to do with the supposed behaviour but actually a personality trait that we men hate. Her writing is okay. What's wrong with that? Her portrayal of the chap is quite accurate and even, I dare say, close to what we would have done if we were 26 and in his shoes.

BJ2,
I'm glad if some don't worship my words, the rest love the attitude. Working with Chowq's turkeys leaves very little sky for an eagle to soar!
"you can truly rise to the heights of glory where you actually belong!"
I don't care much for Gloria, she'll come if and when her time is right.
Now name just ONE eagle on Chowq....

Tahir miaN, that's more like it! :)
It is only through such a positive attitude (plus the mandatory deference to and reverence for the chowk staff) that you can truly rise to the heights of glory where you actually belong!
Tahir miaN, I am convinced that with the right attitude, you can soar like a chowk eagle! (PS: But be wary of Manto Mureed Majumdar who will invariably lead you astray!)

"You CAN be funny at times. However, sometimes, it is unintentionally so."
Unintentionally? Have you only been reading my interacts BJ2?
"Observing you here sometimes reminds me of a baby bull in the china shop."
Since when have you become Darwin? There's no species barrier at Chowq.
"let it out, let it out!"
This is the future Pul-itzer Prize winner's board, how can I be open here? When I'm open, they ban me!
All this is NOT about establishing my manhood (which is well established since God knows when), but you know, bad womanhood hurts.
Someone tried seducing her with this Pul-itzer Prize nonsense. The prize is given for the encouragement of public service, public morals, American literature and the advancement of education! Do you see any such effort in the second category? You might say, a Bull-itzer Prize may come her way soon from Chowq Stuffed!
:)

Tahir miaN, don't get me wrong. You CAN be funny at times. However, sometimes, it is unintentionally so.
Observing you here sometimes reminds me of a baby bull in the china shop. The baby bull is so amazed at the brilliance of the shiny NEW pieces that he has no clue what to do and so goes around bumping his head all around senselessly, accomplishing little but injuring oneself.
I wish you the best of luck in extricating whatever you are holding back! Tahir miaN, let it out, let it out!
Let it ALL out! You will feel better. Take Majumdar's advice. PS: you don't need NB's endorsement to establish your manhood.

Thanks MBA for supporting me (look what you did to the danggar daktar from Ass-tralia!) and for getting banned by the three-legged monster called CHOWQ STUFFED.
Thanks NB (bhalo achin) for showing them that I'm not a woman.
Thanks Majumdar for trying to whisk me away to UP.
And finally, thanks CHOWQ STUFFED for the paid vacation to San Jose!
Now I don't have any words left for those who turned my interacts into a full-blown SM session!
Next year in Jerusalem!

Please see my fair comments in interacts below.
Regarding your diagnosis of Tahir’s condition, I will let him answer correctly, as nothing for me to say here. I suspect he is blocked again and being man of chowq rules, he wouldn’t create another id like I had done.
Lastly, stop feeling pity about being a lady and stand beside men equally. Change yourself first before changing things around you.

MBA, in fairness, whether you are a fan of the Tahir miaN or not, you have to agree that his attacks on this young lady writer on this board were pretty low class and represented a pathetic display of pure pettiness. I suspect he is suffering from the side effects of severe literary constipation -- in other words, he feels the creative urge to write a piece of his own but is simply unable to "put it out" and so gets real furious when along comes this young lady and puts it up so effortlessly! :)

Delirium, Web Site’s administration has a friend’s list too.
Thanks for sending good wishes. I wouldn’t have imagined such a great honor even in my next coming lives (if I were a hindu). Regarding ID, soon I might start next one in MBA 007 series. Just keep following it.
I am happy to know that you support quality writing and tolerance. With these two ingredients we can cook better chicken tikka masala (assorted Veg masala for vegetarians).

Nothing (for me) to comment on the story but plenty on the controversy that ensued
What was so wrong with the interact # 28 that it had to be filtered? Just compare it to some of the stuff that goes on regularly.
Do we have some consistency at chowk ?
Mont Blnac
I see you have earned some great rewards and titles (conferred upon you) other than a new login for expressing yourself. Congrats!
I subscribe to your slogan on quality and of course we need much more of tolerance, mutual respect and positivity here.If everyone keeps contributing towards that!

If I were writing it, I would have made the principal character the cause of spilling the tea -- just to make the reader madder at him.

Hina, good job with the story!
Plus, the bonus...
The way you whipped Tahir's behind is sheer delightful reading! It restores my faith in the invincibility of Pakistani narihood!
