Well written tribute to the great batsman and a great man. BTW compare Miandad to Imran when Imran grabbed a teenager by the neck when he came to congratulate Imran for his batting. But where Imran was treated like a king by officials, Miandad, well, he was just another Karachiite.

I have a vivid memory of watching the Great Man leap into the stands at the CCC grounds, Colombo, and attack a spectator. This was to set a noble standard which was dutifully upheld by the young Gentle Giant, the pacific Inzamam-Ul-Haq.

Complete cricketer, I`ll grant. Terrific man? I`ll pass on that one, thanks.

Amzing anecdotes and quotes about Miandad. I had heard Richard`s comments but the Apple-assisted runout, the GN campaign and Benaud`s comments are gems.

Still, I agree. His greatest ``antic``, his best memory is the shot that prompted Mushtaq`s hysterical scream in the Middle East.

Thanks for a very entertaining read.
