assalamu`alaikum, siddiqui sahib!

why do you have to dig up such nostalgic subjects, people, songs and places? `je chilo drishtir shimanae` is one of the most poignant, touching and heart rending songs ever created, rendered and so exquisitely, presented under the sun..shahnaz begum is still one of my most favourite singers; she is timeless..

thanks for the momories, although it hurts..

regards,

inannasalome49

Lovely thoughts are enkindled reading this article .The songs everyone has mentioned are beautiful ones , but the one which is one of my favourites to date and delivered beautifully by Shahnaz Begum, is ``Kis key liyae fiza ko saja tee hai chandni ``.

Unfortunately i have forgotten the song beyond its first line , but have not forgotten the mesmerising effect it used to and still has , even though now just fragments of it are left to memory .

if anyone knows the lyrics beyond the first line , and would not mind posting them , i shall be greatly indebted for the bail !! :)

Shirin Ahmed

Ras,

Nice article. On a tangent, the Lata song you mentioned i.e. ``Tum na jaaney kis Jahan mein Kho gayen`` is one of my favorite songs. It is a really beautiful number.

Ras Siddiqui!

I have Sohni Dharti as the top patriotic song being sung.

What a beautiful voice was Shahnaz Begum.

Ras:

Thanks for this trip down memory lane.

Shahnaz Begum lives in the heart of music lovers in the sub continent. This reportage rekindled her haunting renditions of:

Baat niklay gi tou
Sawan aaya tum nahiN aaye
Pawan devani
mujhay tum naz`r say
and
sohni dharti

among other songs and ghazals.

Thanks, once again.

regards,

temporal

PS: Since you are still in touch with them can you help me trace the whereabouts of Sadia Afroze Ali?
