RSaxena #82 Thanks for the kind words. However, the point is not whether people like me are a curse for Pakistan (as jay says) or not (as you say). The point is that for anyone on chowk to promote bloodshed that will obviously involve young men from poor families, and not themselves, displays a rotten sense of values. This is the behavior that I would hope to see condemned on chowk - first and foremost by people of the same nationality. Only then will we have some sanity in India-Pakistan relations, at least on chowk.

Firstly, let me leave tahmed or any chowk poster out of it.

Then let me say, a conspiracy of silence imposed in the name of ``polite behaviour`` doesnot change anything about the impolite and vile things going on elsewhere.

A Pakistani court in ths week rejected Amnesty International`s plea in favor a Pakistani sentenced to death for blasphemy.

Who is going to fight for him? An education plan to educate the extremists and illiterate into polite behaviour seems a long shot. And the Pakistani court judgement was not passed by illiterates.

Guess what would have happened in India, if the injustices of the caste system were kept out of polite conversation among the educated because such discussion was deemed to be an `insult` to religious sensibilities, and unnecassarily contentious hence ruinous to good relations between the educated.

Esp, as in any case a case could be made that only the uneducated, feudals and extremists or poor who promoted caste discrimination and so education and economic growth was the solution to it all. Well, then we would have had caste discrimination creeping into the highest levels of Indian institutions, and society, while all of us kept saying ``This is not true Hinduism``.

Lastly a conspiracy of silence or a moratorium on all difficult topics among the cogniscenti serves also to misguide others less informed.

Re: Jay #81

While those things you mention about Pakistan are true, I don`t think it is people like TAhmed who caused them. If anything, if there were more Pakistanis like him, those problems would not exist and Indo-Pak relations would be markedly different.

Let us differentiate between Pakistan the state and individuals. Granted that as individuals, the yawaahs and Urstrulys and scouts are misguided...but then there are also the wiser TAhmeds.

SOME ONE WRITES TO COLONEL,

So colonel saab, this is my last post to you, 80 is not a bad number on chowk.

tahmed,

Pl dont take the personal details about me seriously, they are irrelevant and as such what you think could be plain untruth. What I state stand on their own consistancy, independant of the personal details. May be I can reel of sufficient details about finite element analysis to convince you that I am a stress analyst at the Bangalore office of MSC Nastran.

What is important for you is to realise that it is people like you who have taken pakistan to its present state. You have no sense of continuity, you cannot understand the pattern in the confusion, you cannot accept that pakistans jihadic evolution is not the work of some zia, you cannot acknowledge that the refusal of the pak assembly to condemn the honour killing is the pinnacle of an evolution process. You cannot see the evr increasing numbers of honour killing is the outcome of that refusal, and it is your silence that is instrumental in its sustainace.

Stuka #78 ``Jay and URstruly ek hi thaali key chatte batte hain.``

bilkul sahih gal keeti ai, stuka sahib. :-)

I too am all for not letting our guard down prematurely in Pakistan, and indeed think nukes are a cost-effective deterrence as well. However, one can do all this and still maintain respect for one another and build up people to people links. Respectful behavior and positive interest in developments in the two countries on chowk is part of this.

And then one day we will safely be able to bring our guard down, and toss away the nukes.

Rsaxena #79: I dont know about Romair (whose posts I dont normally read since even I run out of time on chowk), but I have (as you know from the TiE board and others) challenged urstruly when he has gotten into one of his hate-India moods. I look forward to a similar challenge to Jay from you...and indeed to something other sarcasm about Pakistan too.

RE: TAhmed

``from the comfort of his house, have only one wish on his mind: to see young men from poor families in both India and Pakistan shed blood. When I call you rotten, I say it for a reason.``

Isn`t that what every Pakistani (including Urstruly and ROmair) who supports Jehad in Kashmir asking for too? There are many more such people in Pakistan then there are Jays asking for continuation of violation in Kashmir in India.

jay #74 ``People like you are the curse of pakistan. `` I see my remark that you are a rotten individual offended you. Your retort of course means nothing to me since I have no respect for you as an individual. How can an individual, who lives on a pension in a manner that most people in South Asia can only dream of, can spend his time scaning the internet from the comfort of his house, have only one wish on his mind: to see young men from poor families in both India and Pakistan shed blood. When I call you rotten, I say it for a reason.

Sac,

I am an expert on aircraft engines, may be you can ask anarayan about it. There is something called ETOPS, extended twin engine operations. All twin engine aircraft are required to fly with in reach of an airport with in sixty minutes of single engine flying. Basically this ensures that when an engine is shut down, the possibilty of the other engine failing with in sixty minutes is minimum. This requirement has limited the routes an aircraft can take, and the success of B 747 was largely due to this as it had four engines and is not affected by ETOPS.

Now the B777, which is a large twin engine plane has been approved for 180 minutes ETOPS. That means it is taking routes that could be 180 minutes from a nearest airport, and as such can travel on greeat circle routes ( minimum distance between two points on earth is not the linear path) and compete with B747.

So from an engine reliability point of view, you stand a bigger risk travelling on B747. So dont travel on B777.

Why am I writing all this, because I want you to believe that I am an aero engine specialist for morgan stanly. Well they own a company called Ansett World Aviation Services, number three aircraft leasing company in the world and have 200 a/c. Now will you believe that I administer their engine lease programs.

No sac, I am just joking.

regards

jay

tahmed,

People like you are the curse of pakistan. Look at dawn or jung, find out the news about death and compare to any indian news papers. You will find that pakistanis like death. It is a society that trains people to seek death. When some cruise missile strikes a desolete afghan hamlet, it kills the pakistanis, and tell me where they seeking blood.

There are hundred of doctors killed in karachi, no one is arrested, becuase less doctors means more death. Sectarian violence, one person hanged in ten years, because he happened to kill some iranians.

I have my sympathies for people like you, blinkered by the k for kafir education, conditioned by a society that believes that no pakistani died in kargill invasion.

Open your eyes and ask yourself, why were those pakistanis in afghanistan. You will know the meaning of jihad in practical terms, you will know why the dead did not count in kargill.

Regards and best wishes

jay.

jay #71 ``there can be no peaceful resolution of kashmir. ``

you are bloodthirsty arent you. Sitting comfortably on your pension, wishing violence on people (Indians and Pakistanis) who are less fortunate than you. If you love violence so much, why dont you step away from your keyboard and go and fight? I would never have believed an individual as rotten as you existed if it had not been for chowk.

Colonel saab,

The agra summit has proved onething, there can be no peaceful resolution of kashmir. The jihadists have the ultimate support in pakistan and are an integral part of pak army and the foreign policy. In india, it is still the old generation in power, the ones who drool about the old, the lahore and all that crap. In pakistan the power has gone to the children of TNT, the poor are the true juhadists, seeking death in the process of killing the kafirs, and the eduvated like the YLH are the jihadists in Zagna suits, they are the front men, providing the money and the rationale for his fellow men to reach shehdad.

Till the new generation takes over in india, a coherent attempt for iraquisation will have to wait. That is bad news for you colonel.

What a study in Contrasts:

From Iraquization of Pakistan to the Occupation of Pakistan wah Wah...almost makes me pat HamidM on the back..Abey, pehley apna desh sambhal lein kya??

HamidM can carry on hating Horrible Hindoos and drinking scotch with them. BTW, do you regularly offer Black Label scotch to people you hate? Dushman ho to aisa...wah wah

Ham kyon apna sir deewar pey phoden??

Agar itni khundak hai Pakistan aur Pakistaniyo say, to saarey Hindustani HamidM key neighbour ban jaao aur har weekend uskey ghar pahunch jaao. Woh bechaara scotch pilaata rahega, aur agar woh tumhare ghar aaye, to ussey Nimbu Paani pila dena.
