Aamir (Ansari), #23:
Glad to hear of the interest in future Seeds of Peace camps. I don`t know
for sure if the Indian/Pakistani delegations will be going to camp next
year. (The sessions are held every summer). There is some question. I
suggest you check www.seedsofpeace.org for details. Sorry I don`t have
clearer info for you than that.

If you want to, please go ahead. But you didn`t answer the question: is
that $1 billion to be spent before we get a ``free`` aircraft carrier a
waste of money or not?
> This is a lame attempt to skirt around the issue.
> Mushy himself said that pakis are nothing like the

(This is re: cow comment). But that`s why I said, we have cows in common.
Why are you assuming that Mushy must speak for you? I must presume you have
a mind of your own; therefore, use it to decide what, if anything, we have
in common.

Seems to me if, as you claim Mushy said, ``we eat cows and they worship
cows``, we have cows in common. This is a serious comment.
stuka, #5:
``These things are a waste of money``, you say. Two years ago, Russia
offered us Indians an aircraft carrier (``Admiral Gorshkov``, I think) for
``free`` except we would have to pay $1 billion for ``refurbishing`` it. Is
that a waste of money?
Also,
``I have good friends who are Pakistani, but does not make me wanna give up
Kashmir. I am sure the Pakistanis I know are not so overwhelmed by my
friendship that they wanna give up Kashmir either.``
I wonder, does friendship mean only that one or the other of you have to
give up things? Is that the only way to resolve differences? Or might
there be another way, that you discuss and argue your differences and see
what that does to your friendship? Perhaps that`s what Seeds of Peace was
about.
AmericanExpress, #9, #15:
``I havent seen any less belligerence on part of Sharon`` -- well, maybe he
didn`t attend a Seeds of Peace session? This is a serious comment too.
``I bet no one will come to answer question``. You lost the bet.
arjun_m, #16 and UmerMurtaza, #17, #18:
Thanks for making it clear why we need programmes like Seeds of Peace.

Mr D`Souza, Ms Habib,
Having read your article, some people here are interested in finding out whether they can also have their children/brothers and sisters participate in similar camps. Would you have any information on that? Would a similar excursion be undertaken again, perhaps next year?

``So kindly stop sending 17-year olds and other Pakistanis from Bahawalpur and Multan to kill these just-like-you Kashmiris for participating in elections. These candidates, voters and voting officials are just like you when you participate in your own elections in Pakistan.``
who are you preaching to? a bunch of cyber-junkies? maybe you should wave ur flag of `righteousness` where it counts.

The Seeds of Peace is a wonderful program, and the article was well written. Its nice to know that children are given the opportunity to challenge societal prejudices and benefit from friendships.

Ref to comment # 14, by sadna.
The people who commit murders justify their acts by denying their victims` humanity. That is why it is essential that as many young people as possible realise that killing one`s ``enemy`` is killing ones` brother, killing oneself. Through programs like the SOP,we hope to influence young people before they are filled with the hatred that turns them into murderers or people who condone murder.
Ref to comment #9, by American Express.
Where human beings are concerned, you have to make a difference one person at a time. In inter-faith marriages, at least some members of the faiths will help forge bonds between families.
Ref to comment #8, semiprecious.
What has the religion of the delegation leaders got to do with anything ? By the way, Dilip is agnostic.
Ref to comment # 15, by American Express
American Express is referring to the machinations of some hidden power. Could he/she be more explicit ? I`m interested in knowing about it too.

Arjun,
I think you should stick to cleaning the $hit in your own yard before you start pointing fingers at others. God knows how many millions of your fellows are doing that but they don`t have a choice. They`re born that way. Go on, help `em.

``How do these young people come to realize that ``the enemy is just like me``, ``
At this time, let us not stretch it. Let us be happy with less. It is enough to teach Pakistanis that Mustaq Ahmed Lone, Minister of Law in Jammu and Kashmir was `just like` them and should not have been killed by Lashkar-e-Taiba which was also just like him. They are Muslim, he was Muslim, can you understand so much for a start, perhaps?
He was campaigning in the elections as are many other candidates.
All these candidates and voters are just like Pakistanis. The election officials are just like Pakistanis. The children of election officials are just like Pakistanis. Most are Muslims. All are Kashmiris. They are all just like Pakistanis.
