Samina Shah; thank you! I`ve read some of Linda Pastan`s poems in poetry calendar the al-Hamra press brought out this year; really liked them. Haven`t read Marie Howe; thank you for sharing her piece!

Wow...this is strange and beautiful...and a little dark...Ansari have you read Linda Pastan poems from Carnival Evening and Marie Howe`s A Part of Eve`s Discussion.

If there were ever a book on that moment of Eve biting into the apple (and gaining knowledge-what was later to be known as ``sin``), this poem should be in it!

Ansari,

Another part of the dialogue:

Part of Eve`s Discussion

It was like the moment when a bird decides not to eat from your hand,

and flies, just before it flies, the moment the rivers seem to still,

and stop because a storm is coming, but there is no storm, as when

a hundred starlings lift and bank together before they wheel and drop,

very much like the moment, driving on bad ice, when it occurs to you

your car could spin, just before it slowly begins to spin,

like

the moment just before you forgot what it was you were about to say,

it was like that, and after that, it was still like that, only all the time.

-Marie Howe

Ansari:
``And he was strong,
Before it was dark again.``
These two lines capture the poignancy of the poem. Keep it up!

Ansari Sahib

It is soft and delicate and a good respite from the cocophony of dogmas, nationhoods and cultural debates on Chowk.
