”To lower the fear distrust apprehension someone has to take a risk and convincer all..... of your disarming disalrming intent .”
Take Risk ,reward is worth it .”
It has to be a two-way unbiased process, from both the communities. Let’s do it together for the good of one and all.

[Lubna; aap kissi ki ammi tau nahin? all ammis have this thing about bhindi. . . and tauri and arvy and baigan and shaljam. . .and only an ammi can give a dissertation on the sordid varieties of the gheeya. . . :)]
--nahi beta ji, hum kissi ki ammi nahi. and no - as is evident - ammis are not the only ones who can go on about such stuff. start cooking and running your own place and you`ll learn soon enough. (and if you`re working 5 days a week in addition to cooking and running your own place, you`ll go crazy soon enough. which is why hum abhi kissi ki ammi nahi banna chahtay...)

I guess this is why I hated it was to resonante of the US in region which is far from the US - I guess the power of capitalism to kill subdue the inner soul, culture of any nation. The myrid of Gulf States have faced the same leel of development complemnting US cultural values, architectrue and superficiality. There were more American resatruants, than say arab. It was more expensive to eat in a labenes or iranian restaurant than say your average Texmex... more american stores/restaruants than in London.
I guess thier brianwashed minds make for a culturally colonized society.. all in the name of western style development at the expense of of the very bieng of the people. Although Abu Dhabiie is slightly better, and al sahriqa slightly poorer - it was a rather surreal experience -obseriving the ideosyncricies of the city and of life there.

Farzana; was at the Deira City Centre today. Had forgotten how so many different people visit the place. Spent most of my time reminding myself, savoring the diversity. I can imagine what it must be like for the first-time visitor. Now if only we could learn to speak to each other. . .

Oye, helloji, itni jaldi bhi kya hai???
[WOW!! The opinion of an exDelhiite matters that much to you?]
WOW!! Sarcasm shrivels and falls to the floor…but…pssst, pssst….YOUR opinion kinda matters to me…
[But most Parisians, New Yorkers or Londoners would roll over laughing if you compared Bombay to them. Only someone from Calcutta or Karachi might attempt to argue.]
Bet that would be the only time they would loosen up… but Mumbai is not like any of these cities, it is unique. I think only the insecure would want to compare themselves with others; some silly politicians wanted to transform Bombay into another Singapore…puhleeze… and what are you complaining about? Dilliwallas say they are just like Lwaur, even if Lwaur Lwaur hain…
[So you are aware of the Qutab Minar? I`m glad. Though I regret that I do not have the same level of knowledge about Kamala Nehru Park. Oh well.. :)]
Of course, I am…it is the only phallus in the whole Capital (can’t even call it a city). And of course one did not expect any Delhiite to know about Kamala Nehru Park – it is a woman thing :)
And jaatey-jaatey, tourists visit Delhi to check out India’s past; they come to Mumbai to see it moving towards the future… theek hai ji?

lubna (#98):
When I said don`t run away, it was as in ‘ghaayab mat ho jaana’ not ‘bhaag jaana’….real women don’t bhaago, they bhagao ;)
Ah bhindi…ask you-know-who about what I did with it (or write to me)… damn, even before I got to Chowk, iske bare mein pataa tha…
Roshan (#97):
[And do you get any thing else in mumbai `Bhindi Bazar `;-)]
You get Muslims. But the same principle as bhindi would apply here – they too can be quartered, stuffed etc and are real sticky.
Stuka (#96):
[If I am not being too curious, what kind of ``strange things`` did you do with a Bhindi???]
Stuff that a Democrat would understand, not a Republican :))

ferzi - #92:
nah - not one to run away. not even from this chowk! :) but thanks. nice to be back...i think...
as for the bhindi - strange things u say? hmm…perhaps we should compare notes on this. ;)
[Arab women, not to worry...I was told real hot stories, and it does not seem like they are twiddling their thumbs while waiting....]
--yeah they`re definitely not sitting around twiddling their thumbs - can testify to some of those hot stories. they have a lot more interesting things to play around with! as my arab friends always say, ``u can`t blame us! damn the hot climate!``

Sarka Pudey Laukar Laukar:
[Ahem, I went there to laugh spitefully at the Bombayites who were being so grossly overcharged for mediocre nightlife entertainment.
And the Bombayites shrivelled and fell to the floor hearing the spiteful laughter, right? I believe even the war ships docked near the Radio Club were completely shaken... ]
WOW!! The opinion of an exDelhiite matters that much to you?
[Happening in a domestic sense maybe. Not when you compare it to international destinations..like Dubai for example:)
Sure. Most Parisians think their city is more happening than New York. ]
True enough. But most Parisians, New Yorkers or Londoners would roll over laughing if you compared Bombay to them. Only someone from Calcutta or Karachi might attempt to argue.
[``It is cosmopolitan, a bit debauched (in a nice kind of way!), weird yet wise.``
Sure..compared to Nasik :)
Is that about as far as you could get? What a pity...but Mumbaiites don`t even know much about Nasik... ]
Really? Then Bombayites should stop comparing themselves to New Yorkers who tend to be very much aware of Jersey and Connecticut. A better comparison might be with the denizens of Omaha, Nebraska.
[Not at all. We are in complete sync here :) hahaha!!
Of course. Never doubted that for a moment. I mean Delhi would fit into Kamla Nehru Park...give or take a few tombs and the Qutub Minar. ]
