dear Ras:

thanks for your reminder post -- otherwise I would have missed the great Junoons -- and their musical crusade against the fanatic Islam.

it was an eye opener piece on various aspects of Pakistani Islam --

got to see finally a glimpse of the famous Bari Imam`s Urs -- what a festive colorful happy musical gathering -- in contrast to the drab, dour, desolate, and distinctly donkeyish atmosphere of the Mad Rassa --

those are indeed MAD crazy places inhabited by crazy Alien Beings.

lastly that BBC reporter Mishal Hussain was just terrific -- made that hypocrite Bush’s Rocca squirm like an earthworm -- when Mishal asked her pointed questions about Pakistani WMDs, its active nuclear programs and Pakistani Talibans gaining power thru ballot box -- and about Bush’s newly discovered `love` for Pakistan.

Junoons Zindabad -- what a courageous group -- Pakistan is 100% alright -- thanks to Junoons and their millions of singing, dancing fans --

thanks again Ras

regards

JUNOON’S SALMAN AHMAD ON PBS TELEVISION JULY 17 (TONIGHT)

It is not every day that Pakistan is reported on in the mainstream US Media. And it is even rarer to see a leading figure
from our music world presenting an alternate window into that country here in America. But the Pakistani-American Rock Band Junoon’s Lead Guitarist Salman Ahmad is about to do just that on Thursday, July 17, 2003 at 9:00 PM Eastern Time on the Public Broadcasting Station (PBS) Wide Angle series in a broadcast called “The Rock Star and the Mullah’s”.
Wide Angle information is available online at http://www.pbs.org/wnet/wideangle/about/schedule.html). The show also features one of the best known Pakistani-British faces, that of journalist Mishal Husain of the BBC along with the already very familiar James Rubin (hubby of Christiane Amanpour of CNN fame).
Salman has always tried to present the positive face of Islam and Pakistan in his efforts thus far in the Media in this country. In this program on PBS he attempts to go beyond his appearances on the now defunct “Politically Incorrect”
and the “Islamabad: Rock City” program on VH1. He journey’s from tolerant Lahore to turbulent Peshawar in “The Rock Star and the Mullah’s”; From a place where his band’s music is widely appreciated to another that wants to ban the playing of all kinds of music. For more details please visit http://www.pbs.org/wnet/wideangle/about/film_s2_f2.html but make sure that you try and catch this program which will be repeated the following day. Please check your local PBS station guide for show dates and times which may differ in your particular area. For example the Sacramento, California station will be airing this program at 10:00 PM on July 17 and at 4:00 PM on July 18.

This must have been a cool event and it must be a pleasure to listen to the recitals.
It`s been a long while that I have attended any Mushaira in NY/NJ. Ironically, last time I attended one, even the shoa`rae`karaam were slightly at daggers drawn. So, it`s certainly nice to hear of this event and its creative edge.

Did anyone say anything about the following:

~Naqsh` Faryaa`di Hae` Kis Kee Sho`khee`yae Teh`reer Kaa
Kagh`azi Hae Paer`han Hur Pae`kar`ae Tasveer Kaa.

(*?*) ?
