Good. The best part is that every one has something to relate to.
My father died when I was five. I only remember him in black and white.
My mother died when I was 30 and married. She was looking forward to our first kid.
Bravo!!

RE: #21

Welcome back Ansari Sahib,

Life goes on, we get older, and the energy level is lower.

Chowk is a great place to visit but some of us just can`t

keep up with all the good (and bad) writing seen here.

You are a formidable poet who should continue to

write here.

But as they say ``don`t quit your day job``

because the financial rewards are 0.

Aur sab kairiyat hai.

Ras

well well, look who`s back! it was only a matter of time Ansari. Only a matter of time.

And for you Harpreet, when will we have the pleasure of reading your next piece?

Fatima: these poems are very good. You have a deft touch.

Ras sahab: thank you for thinking of me. Umeed hai aap aur aapke pyaare khairiat se hain.

I liked the `Nana` poem. The ambiguity in Memory is just fine.

`Off topic`, but the traders of Bilal Gunj have a soul because of their proximity to the Pir.

Khatam:

Yes, I think ambiguity will keep it from turning into either a cliche or a foreign idea on the other hand.

urstruly: it can be either. therefore empathy-giving-way-to-a-smile.

Ladies

Sorry to interrupt into your tender moments of sharing but I need to know which one is it - the pill or the pain.

fatima: it seems that urstruly has unwittingly uncovered the depths of ``memory``. lucky for me though, because i, in all my otherwise cockiness, missed it. i re-read it after following the comments and my empathetic response gave way to a very large, very bright glint-in-the-eye sort of smile. which translates into a greater respect for your skill as a poet. and reminds me that when one finds ones own scars highlighted by anothers pen, one becomes blind to other possibilities of meaning. it is human nature, perhaps, to see the world, even when we see it through anothers eyes, to presume that inevitably everything is all about our single selves. unless thats just me falling into that very trap all over again.

Thank you for the responses. V. heartening :-)

Urstruly, I am delighted you picked up on the ambiguity.

FT Husain.

Nana:
I have same feelings and memories,

my mother often asks me if I remember him and I could only visualize the photos and speak out of them else I dont remember.

But there is a note of confidence when she shares with my brother.

Fatima Husain,

There is something beautiful in your writing.

``Urdu`` is a bit confusing. Loved the rest.

Please submit more of your work on CHOWK.
