Hey that was a good one!! It reminds me what happened to few groups in my company in `02. For sure, right from `01 to late `02 the layoffs happened in India as well. I cannot forget one thorough professional techy girl who was affected and with whom I had worked in two projects. I moved to another group - lucky me whereas she contd with the same and finally was hit. She was an amazing person and I very well remember that last working day of hers when she came up to me to bid goodbye. Absolutely calm and never showed up anything much, came to me and said `Bye today is my last day` not knowing what had happened I said `Oh really, where to next?` she jus smiled and said `Nowhere right now but somewhere soon` I was shocked and realizing what had happened could not utter a single word. It was very hard to believe. Damn! what grace she walked out with.
Some observations Rahul, article leads to telling more about two different people meeting and trying to know eachother in many places. Also your observations made about her and thoughts running in your mind soon after u get into the bus after saying bye to her etc jus drifts the storyline. You wanted to emphasize on the economic recession so probably you could have added more about that and made it more efefctive.
Neway, keep writing. Its good to see originals on chowk. Was tired of reading the `remix`:)

cheers
Mrinal

Does it look like a love story? I need to change my writing style :-)

This is not a love story, just a story about a lady I met. I wanted to write something about Canada with the background of economic recession.

In the beginning, I wanted to cover all the people whom I came across, their anxieties, the pressure they felt due to economic slowdown etc. After it was done, I found the whole thing boring. So, I deleted all references to other people (who lost or were on the verge of losing their jobs ) and rewrote it around this lady.

Still wondering, where did you guys find the element of love?

The Canadian jargon is all over this article. It was a little confusing at times to follow, but it was a sad, little love story. Keep u the good work! :)
