``Dubai has always been home to Indian businesmen many who have become citizens of UAE....``
The harsh reality is that U.A.E`s government never gave citizenship to any other nationality and that`s the reason why Chutaram- a supermarket chain which was believed to be the greatest contributer since the time of U.A.E independence filled a case against U.A.E`s government as they demanded citizenship. But no response was made from the government.
The reason why many indians invest in Dubai is only because U.A.E`s government need no records on persons background, they basically don`t care whether the money is black or white, all they care is that the money should be invested in their country. And that`s the reason why people like Dawud Ibrahim and other indian mafia live and invest money in gulf as no one questions them.

Boom town
The fastest-growing city on earth, Dubai is spending mind-boggling sums on construction and is about to swallow up P&O in its bid to be a global maritime power. Given the scale of its ambition, could it become the most important place on the planet? Adam Nicolson reports from `Mushroom City`

In your opinion strikes, bloodshed, lawlessness, corruption, pollution, nepotism, bigotry, polarisation, violence, intolerance all are signs of a thriving and vibrant nation!
I am just speechless. I only hope there arent many nuts who share your views.

Indians and Dubai businessmen have been trading with each other much before the oil boom. Those traditional relationships are now evolving from simple dhows to high rise buildings. Dubai has always been home to Indian businesmen many who have become citizens of UAE.
Story of Dubai can be compared to a dream or a vision, either you believe in it and invest or simply walk away thinking its nothing but a bubble. Credit must go to Sh Mohammed, he has transformed this very tribal society into a modern business hub, home to millions, multi-cultured, tolerant and in many ways offering equal opportunities. Having said that, there remains some serious concerns on the sustainability of this juggernaught. Probably the biggest worry is related to legal matters, even today property rights are vague and suspect. Consumer protection has yet to be formalized, ethical practices intrade are lacking and insider trading on the local stock market is acceptable behavior.
Dubai bonanza conti nues, high oil prices have helped and this story may have a few more legs before its decides to rest.

Mr. colonel what you think as bad omens is really sign of thriving nation who is young and energetic compared to India. So there is more hope and actvisim on part of awam than India where only communists and muslims had to show understanding of situation and they protested aginst blasphamous things and selling of India to Mr. Bush cheaply. As i said befoe parliment of USA is not going pass that into law as China and pakistan and peace and nonprolification lobbies are on offensive.

Why you have reservations about Dubai investing ?
Will Indian companies put money in big G if they are applied same rules. Karachi was also small but developed in Mega City. G is also going to grow in Mega city in few years. It has all requirements needed to happen like that. In G already the cost of land is skyrocketing compared to say five years. % wise it has rose than most hot market for land in world ie Karachi. Once Railway with 2 broad guage line is done lots of Ships instead of Going to Karachi will be going to G. In karachi and Port Kassim it takes time for ships to clear cargo but here it will be done very fast. Initially the rates will be small. Presently all imported goods to Afghan come to Karachi and there is delay. Big G will solve that problem and also it will serve central asia and there will be fierce competition between Iran`s Chah bahar port and G will be clear winner. Iranians are worried about that so they and India building road to Afghan through IRAN. Also USA is going to be there in central asia and Afghanistan for decades ( at least 30 years) they need port to support peace and antiterror forces.
The biggest user will be China export Limited through big G. As her goods will be shipped and will be saving lots of time rather than circular big journey. This is going to give big boost to ship building in that area. Also G will be HQ of Pakistan Navy than Karachi in future as its more away from India which is advantage compared to Karachi.
Anyway you people can bad wish big G but G will most success, check after 20 years will be ``Rotterdam`` of Indian subcontinent, I hope I can see that.
Just now like Kandla port of India handle more bulk and liquids than bombay port same way G will surpass Karachi .
Good luck to all bad wishers of G.

Bechara Pakistanis!! I feel sorry for them. The US loves India, EU loves India, the Gulf countries love India, Afghanistan loves India, even China loves India. Tch Tch!! The only India hater is Pakistan.
Now Pakistan has no choice but to just give up and accept India as the regional boss of South Asia.

Friends, a few comments :
1. Dubai is not dependant on NRI money. There is money flowing into Dubai from all over the world, starting with the rich Middle East countries, and every Tom, Dick and Harry. Or should I say Taala, Daoud and Hasheem ?
2. However, Dubai welcomes money from anyone in the entire world who will put money into Dubai. NRIs are welcome, too.
3. India cannot be bothered about whether NRIs take money out of India and put it in Dubai. NRIs today are truly ``Non Required Indians``. The Indian economy is marching ahead at 8 % a year. NRIs don`t matter to India any more. In fact, India matters to NRIs, which is why NRIs are rerturning to India.
4. No matter how much money NRIs invest in Dubai, they will never have any say in the running of Dubai. Nor will NRIs ever become Citizens of Dubai. That applies to any other Middle East country.
As one Interact stated, the whole thing is totally commercial.
NRIs will invest where they think they will get the best return, with good safety.
Dubai seems to be a good bet (I have some reservations, though !).
So let Market Forces Play.
NRIs are no fools.
India is not bothered where NRIs invest.
So where is the problem ?

You’ve got to remember that Tony Blair isn’t the worlds best at making himself clear, all those hanging phrases, unfinished sentences, missing verbs etc. I can never understand what he’s saying, anyway.
And God’s not getting any younger, he’s been around a while and his hearing won’t be what it once was and he’s got a lot on his mind..
Tony was having a chat with God about what to do with Iraq and all these Weapons of Mass Destruction and how all the events were having knock-on effects with the family, the wife, the kids and so-on.
God was of course bored rigid with Tony blethering on and was only half listening, so when Tony mentioned the family and weapons of mass destruction, God only heard some of it and thought Tony had said something about Maths Deductions and assumed that Tony was asking about Ewan’s homework, or something (they’d been discussing education the week before). When Tony then mentioned Iraq, God was getting even more bored, so he said “Oh, bugger Iraq”.
So Tony did.

#13..And i thought ``??`` and ``???`` were the sole domain of islamist apologists!!
Sanjayji!
Calm down...this article is posted just to keep the cauldron boiling..
otherwise it is a ``pointless`` article as pointed out by someone here earlier.
The americans are investing ``abroad`` ie in India / China...so does that mean we start tomtoming ``flight of capital out of america to china india?``...
remember the economic crisis a few years back? what comes easily in CAN go easily out!
And no one invests unless they can ``plough back`` the profits...and that is mostly repatriated!
So if anyone is trying to get vicarous satisfaction that ``dubai is bleeding india dry`` etc..
let them have their pipe dream!!
I always call that a ``head in sand `` attittude.
Plenty of that in our either neighbourhoods!
