For Mr.#10

``A wretched soul, bruised with adversity,
We bid be quiet when we hear it cry;
But were we burdened with like weight of pain,
As much or more we should ourselves complain. ``

William Shakespeare

Re: # 10

The first six stanzas express heated emotions, sort of like rabid sparks sputtering from a crackling fire. I inferred from reading these lines that these were uttered in a state of mild psychological shock.

The seventh stanza talks about the narrator cursing herself, probably because of excessively stretched patience of bearing him, the abuser. The eighth stanza mentions the poet to pack her bags and leave.

It is unhealthy to decide on a solid course of action in the heat of the moment; One must calm down and think things over, first, and then ponder over an appropriate solution. The author has the right to express herself, and that is fine.

But what seemed to be going on here is that the poet underwent a fit of rage as a result of being in a problematic bond and all of a sudden deciding on getting out of a relationship. As a human I respect the author`s opinion. But I just do not agree with her approach as far as my understanding grasped matters.

Peace!

Hi:

She may well have tried - we may not know the whole story. This may well be her way of writing an epitaph for all the times she has tried and failed. The first few lines suggest it might have been a typically abusive relationship (emotional rather than physical in this case), where the abusee keeps coming back hoping the abuser might have changed. It takes courage and a lot of strength to finally call a halt.

regards
dL

Hello, there!

I am not sure what you mean. Please elaborate and be specific.

It seems to be a poetic protest against monogamy, imposed on the woman both by culture and religion, dominated by the `metro-sexual` man. In fact man is also suffering from restrictions imposed on the heterosexual man by the homosexual Mullah in Muslim society so that the Muslims today are considered to be the most sex-starved people in the world left with the only option of becoming homosexuals or jihadi-terrorists in the hope of getting 72 hoors in the heaven.

Sadia Rauf,

The narrator no doubt is torn between confusion, resentment, and hate. The poem, I thought, captured human feeling like a metamorphozing haiku, only delayed.

I was, however, expecting to read about an attempted resolution of the narrator with the instigator. She instead just decided to leave. Shouldn`t she try to resolve the conflict with her significant other first before deciding to leave when times got rough?

Peace!

I liked it too. Nice poem.

``You think I’ll shed the little I have
Layer by layer
Only to be consumed by the shreds that you may give. ``

Powerful words!!!

When life is vile - words provide the only sanctuary. Your words are the verbal equivalent of a cruel and bitter fight ... to the death. Soul-destroying.
