Zafarbhai,
Is there a second part to this?:)
Wagah-Attari bonhomie? It`s a photo op. I was there once. It`s unique place in the world, where border guards enact a fierce drama - blooded eyes, swirling moustaches, fierce goose-steps, puffing chests, loudest orders - it`s really a drama worth watching. I saw it from Attari side and I want to watch it from Wagah side in my lifetime.
It happened on 14th Aug 1947, Indian High Commissioner attended Pak Independence celebrations in London. I dont know if Pak HC came to India House on 15th.
Not all South Asia celebrated this week, only India and Pakistan. South Asia has many nations not just India and Pakistan. As a media person, you may be awre that this region is either South Asia or India Subcontinent not South Asian subcontinent (superfluous). If mentioning India is anathema then you can say just Subcontinent (forget not, we have the Rusian subcontinent as well).
Wishes on 14th/15th August (Pick your day for Independence Day, depending on which side you want to be part of, :):)

``..This re-iteration is needed because pakistan got its independence from ``hindu domination`` whereas indian freedom is generally considered to be from british rule. ..``
I suppose you are liberated from Hindu domination and enjoying your little Islamic Paradise for the past 59 years with Ayub Khan, Yahya Khan Zia, Bhuttos,Nawa Sharifs and now the latest kindly General Mush! Is that why they are celebrating the independence day so enthusiastically?
Good luck to you. Next time you will have Talibani Preident soon.

``It has been a precedence that when Pakistan celebrates its day, the address of the country`s leader is always laced with abhors and loathes for India. How much such avowals are actually required by the peoples of Pakistan is yet to be discovered but the visible elite finds bliss in anti-India rhetoric. ``
This re-iteration is needed because pakistan got its independence from ``hindu domination`` whereas indian freedom is generally considered to be from british rule.
Overall, independence day is just another holidy for people in india, they are kinda resigned to the ``freedom``. Pakistanis seem to celebrate it more enthusiastically in anticipation of freedom.
