My friend`s 16 yr old daughter said once that she believed peacocks were not real, that they were a creation of an artist. She`s seen only pigeons and crows all her life in Mumbai. There was an advertisement recently of a packet of milk and a calf looking at it and saying ``maa``. At least it gave an indication to city kids that milk and animals were connected in some way. Clear streams? We don`t get water at all in our taps, clear or turbid. To see a stream we`d have to go to the Himalaya, for the Sahyadris, too, have dried up now. All we see is garbage. Check out our beaches: only an idiot would go to check them out, the stink`s so bad.....at least in Shivaji Park, Khar Danda and Juhu. Check out the staircases of buildings and get impressed by the spitting artists` work(s). The pretty places, many of us believe, exist in countries like New Zealand/Norway where Indian`s haven`t yet made homes in large numbers.

Re: # 2

My God! That`s one very piggy business. I think they are those wild hairy types and not the pink squishy slimy ones.

Pigs(as in the animal) have always been a common thing in Islamabad. You can see them on the ``Margalla road`` after 12 midnight among other places. In fact I know some people who made a business out of supplying pigs to foreign embassies!

I have yet to see pigs and garbage in Islamabad. And when I do see all that, I would be very very pleased.
