How true!!!....you have explained such an important fact of life in such simple words....No body & I repeat nobody can take the place of your girlfriends...especially your sister`s place....whether it`s idolizing a recent crush, crying over your biggest dissapointment or you just need someone to tell how much you hate someone...its the sister who will always be there for you....my sister is like my personal diary....I seriously feel sorry 4 people who dont have these special species called ``sisters``

Well, good for you. So, did you attempt to join the ``Ya-Ya Sisterhood Club`` ?
It would be fun. It reminded me of my ya-ya clubs at different stages of life. All the members are dispersed all across the globe. The ones in the US keep in touch over the weekends or flyout to celebrate some nice weather, watch a new moview release, attend an interesting social event, head out for a nice vacation or checkout the local adirondack tracks. Mantra: Work hard, live and enjoy life and do not forget to spend.

I am well aware of this Ya-Ya sister business, being married to one of them. Although removed by the seven seas from her Ya-Ya sisters from school and college days, my wife stays in touch with them as if they lived across the street. As a result, through briefings from my wife, I have over the years gotten to know them better than the back of my hand. I dont think I will be over-stepping confidentiality if I release the following info about them:

One Ya-Ya sister of my wife (from college days), I have met twice in my whole life, and only over dinners, the last one being several years ago. BUT... I could tell you more hidden defects in her ex-husband than any car repair shop ever found in your car. I could tell you exactly why this guy is the closest living relative of a weasel. But I wont of course, this being the internet.

Another one (also college days), I know her relations with her sister, father, mother, brother, husband, boy, better than even she knows herself. And I have never met her in my entire life (except I think when we were all in school, and that was a long time ago). I do think her younger sister was being mean to her a couple of weeks ago, for example. And her brother needs to stop being a doormat to that witch he got married to. As for pops - sigh! he is alas no more the man he used to be. He is just sitting in the waiting room, waiting for his number to be up...

But...no worry. These details of the Ya-Ya sisterhood are safe with me. So, I know where you are coming from Miss Sobia. Generations may change, but you women remain the same (and thank God for that).

I`d like to meet these girlfriends.

inquilaabi, thanks..i`m pretty sick of the political clashes of chowk, so i try to write about things which have nothing to do with politics, india-pakistan etc..i also believe everyone has a style of writing and people should stop classifying what is ``right`` and what is ``wrong``...editors and critics are usually people who can`t write to save their lives themselves so they become caustic with everyone else. Like someone famous said: ``Critics can`t even make music by rubbing their back legs together.`` So, I take it all in stride ;)

plats8: yes of course, i`m not saying there`s anything wrong with keeping your emotions inside of you..i guess it`s also the way society is and how men are considered more manly when they don`t ``express`` or keep it all bottled inside.

fara: yes, i have learnt a LOT over the years as well, both good and bad...only those who stick around when the going gets tough are worth it...and there are VERY few of those.

Yesterday a friend fone came, she has arrived here after doing System Engineering from Florida University. She talked abt hour and fifteen and me was i think commas and stops for her, in many times i opened my mouth but she is an express...
I had mails of length tellin each and every well happenings...
Recieved her mail today filled with memories of FG and all back of school..
Will going to have Lunch with her before she leaves for Masters in Georgia Tech..
I remember her always appreciating my Urdu and my sketches of teachers during boring lectures... Of the canteen adventures in which she pushed me to get the Haleem as me long and she tiny creature stood back... Both of them were tiny but were quite reasonable...
I hope the other one gets her Masters well from England and come back home with a good job, and i will cling with her hopefully
