Interesting ly the title of this video was Jugni in Belgium......though I failed to hear any word ...remotely Belgium.

A clarification


the confusion about Jubilee year ,actually arises because the source of this info is One article , published in Punjabi Tribune 24th September , 2005 , its author was Karamjit Singh Aujla , which was traslated by Gurjant Singh.

...this article says 1906 was Jubilee year , hence the confustion.

Interestingly, when Victoria (who was also the Empress of India) died in 1901 there were many elegies composed by various poets and some Indian poets went a bit overboard lamenting that they felt their mother had died. Sometime after Pakistan came into being, statues of Victoria and her son Edward were removed from display in Karachi and dumped in a landfill. I suppose the Pakistani Taliban would have defaced or dynamited the statues had they survived to this day. Sad, aint it?

Thank you, afat saheb for the history of jugni. But jugni is not the narrator but the "narrated", just like Waris Shah is the narrator and Heer is the "narrated".

When did Alam Lohar started singing Jugni? I don't know when Mastana sang Jugni but Hazara Singh Ramta has been doing so since early 50s.
