re: OMAR1974
i am not talking about kashmir. i am not even interested in kashmir. people have begun to get so miopic that they now see kashmir as everything. sure, i agree what is hapening in kashmir is sad, but all the same i am not talking about kashmir - you are. that`s your interpretation of what i have written.
thanks for your feedback.

Nice attempt at making the rape victim look like the rapist Amar :)
I respectfully disagree with the moral position that you advocate of splitting the blame equally and making both sides look like victims of the other. The only real victim here is the Kashmiri people living under Indian control.
The Rape victim and the rapist cannot be considered morally equivilent.
WE (hehe, to affect your style) know who the rapist it.

dear eds
there seems to be a bit of confusion regarding this article (wrong side of the border) because a short intro wasn`t included. could you please include the following few lines:
The retoric on both sides of the border is exactly the same. Replace the `them` and `we` with any community and you`ll see what I mean.
be great if you could make the relevent changes asap to avoid anymore confusion.
cheers

it seems that many people have mis read the main point of my article but at the same time many seem to have picked up on what i am trying to say. the confusion is due to the fact that my intro wasn`t included. the intro basically stated that the people of india and pakistan are both being fed exactly the same grabage. just replace the they and we with either country and you get what i am trying to say. it is applicable across the border. that is why i used they and we rather than a specific.
i hope this clear some doubt.

I personally do not agree with the tone of article, specially when both the sides of the border are living under tremendous amount of pressure.I do not say that I do not understand the sentiments of the author but I insist that these hardhitting words should be avoided specially in the current times.
Both the mentioned sides are facing problems of much greater amplitude. Both suffer from high levels of poverty and specially great ``contempt`` from the other countries.
It is now high time that both the coutries have faced tremendous problems and the effect has cascaded down to the poor innocent citizen of these countries.Instead of talking in terms of ``We`` and ``Them`` lets get together and talk in terms of ``Us`` and work towards a life that sets an example to the world. It might seem that I am thriving for Utopia but one should not forget that these were the two countries that ,in the books of history ,have contributed to the growth and properity of the world to the extent that no other country has been able to achieve.
I am sure that many people in the people would agree with me and may be many would disagree. But all it requires is little time to ponder.

A brilliant work, valid across all borders, Pakistan, Cypress, Bosnia and hopefully not at all times.

Point well made.
I wonder what would happen if all the venom was sucked out and all antagonism between the two just receded away?? I am not just talking about routing of resources to more contructive uses. Its more basic than that, isn`t it? I am concerned about the impact this vacuum would have on the mass psyche. What would we do? Who would we hate? Plot our revenge against? Make scapegoats out of?
We would be so lost.

I think what Amar Dev is trying to say is there is an identical dialogue that is being spoken on either sides of the border-Indians and Pakistanis, against the other party. The only difference might be that one is more justified than the other.
FIguring that out is not really an excercise for both ``THEY``s have singled themsleves out for the honor! Or have ``they``? Maybe I should just keep shut because anything more and ``they`` will accuse me of starting this crap all over again!

I am absolutely in agreement with Mr. Amar Dev. We like a kid brother of them had been a trouble child since our birth back in 1947. They had always been excusing us just like a loving and generous big bro. It`s high time we refrain from creating nuisance in their house as we have to take care of our house as well.

Must say very well done. I can`t recall who it was who said that people would never need to go to court if either party in a fight had a conscience.
What will it take for our mutually destructive leaders to see sense and realise that they are their own victims and own aggresors? That the monster is not outside the border but inside in their own hearts screaming its lust for power.
Thank you for the jolt of honesty and passion. I wish there were more of us able to say what you have said.

I`m not sure what the author is trying to convey in ths article; I suppose the simplistic but true idea that war is an inane struggle between us vs them. Having said that there is enough inuendo to suggest that this is a one sided criticism of Pakistan from an Indian perspective which I think is unfair. Rather than discuss current political realities about who is the actual aggressor and bully in South Asia or to rehash old historical arguments, let me suggest that that Amar Dev consider the fundamental right of all human beings to live and let live- moreover to live as a free and independent people even if you don`t agree with it. This too should be addes into your nebulous article as such,: WE know what is best for a part of THEM that WE continue to rule but why must THEY aggitate for freedom from OUR great peace loving nation.OUR much larger and powerful peace loving nation will continue to deny THEM the fundamental rights of self determination because only WE know what is right and WE can distort facts to suit our wishes!

er...im not sure why this article has been printed. it`s not very amusing. what exactly are you talking about? who are ``they``? and most importantly...are they wearing white coats?

Wow! Amar Dev, did you conceive the notion all by yourself? Why don t WE tell THEM that WE are VERY VERY SMART.
And people say Roger Waters was a musician/lyricist of no consequence- abhi bhugto!

Is this supposed to be tongue in cheek? (I hope). If it is, then I guess it was a little too obtuse for me.
If it wasn`t then perhaps the author can enlighten us about something.
Oh please Amar Dev tell us what grade are you in.

Great job. We need a sequel to this..``Our`` history of the last 1000 years, with ``them``, unfortunately...
A succession of foul-play, treacheries and betrayels by ``them``, which all got worse in the last 100 years. ``They`` tried to kill us all in 1947 (and are still at it as best as ``they`` can).
I`ll leave it for someone else to write on ``our beloved kings, national heroes and statesmen``.
