yeh ishq nahin hain aasaan, ek aag ka darya hai, aur doob ke jaana
hai......
Shaam Hote Hi Chiragon Ko Bujha Deta Hoon
Yeh Dil Hi Kaafi Hai Teri Yaad Main Jalne Ke Liye
Yeh Teri Bhi Aankhon Ka Qusur Hai
Main Tanha Gunahgar To Nahi
In Hi Patharon Pe Chal Ke, Aaa Sako To Aao
Hamaare Ghar Ke Raste Koi Kahkashan Nahi
Kafas Udas Hai yaaro, Subah Se Kuch To Kaho
Kahin To Behr-E-Khuda Aaaj Zikr-E-Yaar Chale
Toot Jaate Hain Sabhi Rishte Magar
Dil Se Dil Ka Raabta Apni Jagah
Dil Ko Hai Tujh Se Na Milne Ka Yaqeen
Tujh Se Milne Ki Dua Apni Jagah
Mast Nazron se dekh lenaa tha..
Agar tamanna thi aazmane ki..
Hum to behust youn hi ho jaate..
Kya zaroorat thi muskurane ki..
Chehrey Per Banawat Ka Gussa,
Aankhon Say Chalakta Pyar Bhi Hai,
Is Shauq-E-Ada Ko Kya Kahiye
Inkar Bhi Hai Iqraar Bhi Hai.
Jo Saaz Se Nikli Hai, Woh Sada Sab Ne Suni Hai
Jo Saaz Pe Guzri Hai, Woh Kis Dil Ko Khabar Hai

Hormone may play role in relationships
NEW YORK (Reuters Health)--Oxytocin, a hormone that plays an important role in many maternal activities, may also play a role in relationships, according to a report.
The study is one of the first to look at the biological basis for human attachment and bonding, said lead researcher, Dr. Rebecca A. Turner, adjunct professor of psychiatry at the University of California, San Francisco.
``In the animal literature, oxytocin has been implicated in maternal behaviors and pair bonding,`` Turner told Reuters Health in an interview. ``We wanted to see if it had a similar function in human bodies.``
In humans, oxytocin levels rise in women during childbirth and nursing, and it has recently been discovered that the hormone is also released during sexual orgasm in both genders.
Twenty-five women participated in the study. As part of it, they were asked to conjure a positive emotion, such as ``love or infatuation.`` The women were also asked to recall a time of loss. In addition, some of the participants were given a 15-minute massage, which has been shown to induce oxytocin release in rats, the investigators explain.
The study examined the correlation between oxytocin levels and the women`s involvement in relationships, their level of anxiety in relationships, and the difficulty they experienced being alone. Personality characteristics were measured by standardized tests, and blood samples were taken to measure oxytocin levels.
The researchers report that massage did cause oxytocin levels to rise, but recalling positive emotions did not. Negative emotions caused oxytocin levels to drop.
The study results also showed that women who had higher levels of the hormone during massage and while remembering positive emotions tended to have fewer problems in interpersonal relationships than those with lower levels. Maintaining oxytocin levels during sadness was correlated with lower anxiety in close relationships.
``It seems that having this hormone available during positive experiences and not being depleted of it during negative experiences, is associated with well-being in relationships,`` said Turner, who is also director of student research at the California School of Professional Psychology, Alameda.
Turner believes these preliminary results are encouraging, and expects to learn more from future studies with more participants.

Women`s sense of freedom influences choice of mate
NEW YORK (Reuters Health)--Women`s attraction to power and wealth in their mates is governed by their ability to control their own destiny, according to results of a new cross-cultural study.
The less access to education and reproductive freedom a woman has, the more likely it is that she will want a mate with money and power, report researchers at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois.
Data for this study came from research conducted in 1990, involving more than 5,000 women and 4,000 men in 37 different cultures spanning six continents. The study participants were asked to rank 18 traits of a mate in order of importance. Traits included wealth, ambition and status - the three traits that researcher Tim Kasser, an assistant professor of psychology, says are central to the debate over gender differences in mate preferences.
Kasser`s team correlated the survey data with information from the United Nations on five variables of female reproductive freedom: maternal mortality rate, percentage of births attended by a trained healthcare professional, percentage of women using contraceptives, domestic violence laws in that country, and the fertility rate.
``The standard finding from almost every country was men wanted good looking, young women, and women wanted ... wealthy, high-status men,`` said Kasser in an interview with Reuters Health. ``The difference was compelling.``
The correlations between the desirability of these characteristics and women`s control of their own destiny varied, however, with some countries - particularly developing nations - having a much stronger correlation between low reproductive rights and resource-acquisition characteristics than others.
Previous studies had suggested that wealth and status were desirable traits in males because these factors were assumed to increase survival of offspring. Kasser`s findings suggest that culture also plays a role in a woman`s choice of mate. Where cultures support women`s self-direction, women are less likely to focus on these characteristics in a mate.
For example, in Scandinavian countries, where the observed differences between sexes on mate preference were the smallest, and educational opportunities and reproductive rights the highest, there was little evidence of a widespread preference for men that can ``provide for`` their families.
``The extent to which an environment supports or impedes a woman`s attempts to direct her own destiny affects what she values in a man,`` Kasser explained in a statement. ``When a female is provided with more opportunities to fend for herself, she will become less concerned with finding a mate who can provide resources for her.``

Re: temporal
Loved that All Points Bulletin you posted on Chowk about me!
Pakistan is an option right now, but I have to take care of a few things before I end up there! The reason why I posted that thought was because of my femme d`coeur. I am seriously thinking about it, because that is the only way I can get away from my object d`amour.
Your warnings could be pre-mature, because I still dazed and confused right now and I might meet another heart ache while re-bounding from this one!

Hi,Omar Sb.
If you look in the ``rear view`` mirror of your memory in Pakistan, didnt we knew about,Pagla, who acted like Romeo,Majnoon,Farahad or Heer .All this research only confirms ``Pagal kardiya``Also if there is bad conotation for love lorn,In my scool i read a book called Animals, friend & my family the epilogue of it read ``There is a pleasure sure in being mad which no one but the mad men know``
But iam glad you brought the science of SEROTONIN because such striken by cupid does lead to suicide, destructive career for let down parents.& debilitating condition``Gaya kaam se beechara ise Ishq ho gay hai``
However all is not lost.these love couplets are example of how creative juices like the ``roller coaster serotonin level``Van Gogh, others were organically psychiatric,Alcohol & drugs can also do the same.

Tu Is Tarah Se Mere Dil Main Shamil Hai(Note the illusion- hallucination)
Jahan Bhi Jaoon Lagta Hai Teri Mahfil Hai
In Main Moti Hai Ke Pathar, Kise Khabar
Dil To Samundaron Se Bhi Gahra Hai Dosto
Zindagi ek phool hai aur mohabbat us ka shehed
Pyar Ek Dariya Hai, Aur Mehmoob uski sarhad
Raste Main Gire Hain Phool, Uthata Hai Koi Koi
Muhabbat Karte Hain Sabhi, Nibhata Hai Koi Koi
Faasle Jism Ko To Dour Le Jaate Hain
Par Dilon Ke Shahar To Ujarte Nahi
Aankhon Se Aankhon Ka Rishta Tut Jaye Bhi To
Saath Dekhe Hue Khwab To Mit Te nahi
Apne Aagaaz Se Aaaj tak Zindagi
Teri Hi Yaad Main Gum Rahi
Phir Bhi Jaane Kyon Yeh Ihsaas Hai
Jaise Chaahat Meri Kam Rahi
Ek Musafir Ne Raat Pichlay Paha
Humain Mili Us Ki Saza
Jo Khata Hum Kar Na Sakay
Khudaa jab husn deta hai
nazaakat aaa hi jati hai
Kadam chun chun kar rakhti ho
kamar balkha hi jaati hai
Aansoon ko aankhon ki dehleez par laya na karo
Apne dil ki haalat kisi ko bataaya na karo
Log muth-thi bhar namak liye ghooma karte hain
Apne jhakam kisi ko dikhaaya na karo
Yeh hawa ka koi jhonka nahi
Teri yaadon ka ek samundar hai
Mohbbat karna koi zulm nahi,
Agar ki jaye usool se,
Khuda ko bhi muhabbat thi,
Apne rasoul se
Mujhe bhulna bhi chaho to bhula na sako ge
Main to palkon pe thahar jaoon ga, aaansoon ki tarah
Tum badle, jahan badla, badli nazar zamane ki
Yeh Aansu char baqi rah gaye, nishani dil lagane ki
Pyar main jadoo bhi kya maza hai
Lagta hai ke ek khubsurat saza hai
Chaand raaat ko sabhi dekhain, hilaal-e-eid ko
Ik hamara hi naseeba hadiyan turva gaay
Hum the chaand ke nazaare main khoye hue
Bus achanak chand ka abba wahan pe aa gaya
Hui hum se ye nadani,
Kay teri mehfil mein aa baithe
Ho kay zameen ki khakh
Aasman se dil laga baithe
Galat nahi ke zamane main lajawaab hain
maut aai to so lenge.....Ahmed Faraz

Tumne chup rahkar sitam aur bhi dhaayaa mujh par
tumse acche hain mere haal pe hansne vaale...
Mai tou ikhlaaq ke haathon hi bikaa kartaa hoon
aur honge tere baazaar mein bikne vaale ......
Aakhrii daur pe salaam-e-dil-e-muztar le lo
phir naa lautenge shab-e-hijr pe ronevaale ...Saeed rahi

mohd faisal..
hehe..umm yeah, when i was writing it it didnt seem so hoky but i think the poem would be much better off without the silly questions in between. it was written in a day dream like stance and i was thinking as to how much we are guided by others and how another person can make us feel. i hate to think that another person can make me feel more myself but at times, it is true..
thanks for the criticism...i do think that the poem is better off without that line and others like it..only becuase its being viewed by other people..in my journal, i leave it as it is.
omar: life is too short to only love once but i cant help envying those who do...im grateful im not one of those cuz i wouldnt be half the woman i am today if it were so.
