On poetry, I go with Zehra.. On issues raised in this poem.... I have to agree with Bina.
What Bina has mentioned is well documented and undoubtly true. One thing missing in Bina`s post is Pakistan`s role as the pimp in the whole affair.
Cheers,
Fairdinkum

There is a silence over many things before one crosses the boundaries to enter Afghanistan. But the ``Repeated Tragic Silence`` in this poem is probably trying to enlighten the readers on the poet`s heartfelt concerns.
I liked the first 4 lines but the order of ``concerns`` could have been changed for the rest. Though each poet/poetess is a ``Muslihat Undesh` in his/her own way.

you address issues that need to be addressed but mebbe you should have written it as an article or prose or sumthing. this is bad poetry. im almost not sure if i should be addressing the poetry or the issues..im gonna go with the poetry. the repetition of the line in between as effective as it is, is grating on the nerves. i mean, they don`t even act as connectors..this could have been better had you made connections more..fluidly. its like being stuck behind a school bus when you are in a hurry to get to the end of a street. your poem is like having all the kids live on your street. (that reference is lost on pakistanis..cars there stop for nothing).

Or how about Kabul as the failure of American and Soviet policy, who used the land as the chessboard for their wargames? Fundamentalism, at least practiced Taliban-style, seems to me not the cause of Afghanistan`s situation, but the illegitimate son who`s been appointed head of the new republic, abandoned by its true parents.

Ras Sahib:
When will we see it as a failure of fundamentalists?
There is a silence over Islamabad.
You are a true romantic, mixing logic with emotions. The result - a beautiful poem.
