Samina:

Yup I’ll give you that, ‘The Show’ can occasionally come up with a clever quip or two. Heck even Dubya can stir up a lil’ hee-haw…’tho its usually at him…hey whatever’s good for mankind huh. But for the avg BobJoe that wry grasp of the obvious leaves a lot to be desired.

Irony ain’t no good without a healthy dose of misanthropic cynicism and well you yanks are jus’ too gullibull. Bless. Leave us be for what we does best innit (nothing beats Monty Python). ;-)

PS- its all in good fun.

Almas,

We are talking about the country that gives us the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Michael Moore, Chris Rock, Richard Pryor, Margaret Cho, Whoopi Goldberg, David Sedaris, Slammin Salman, Brett Butler, etc., right?

What IS your definition of irony?

You read about Ali G. on May 7, read some reviews on the internet, and on May 9 you have an article on Chowk.
That`s the power of Information Technology !

Shouldn`t you have bothered to see the guy for yourself?

Welcome to McEssays.
To the author: At least you picked a subject less phlegmatic this time round.

Actually all the Ali G spoof proves is that American`s really don`t get irony!!! :-D

And you won`t get it any more scientific proof than that folks!

Ali G is awesome. I loved the National Anthem of Kazakstan that he sang before a baseball game in Ohio or something.

Ref Amrit_Patel #15

Hindu scholar? You pathetic idiot, have you seen me quote a single line from the Bhagawad Gita, the Vedas, the Puranas, etc?

I quote from actual history. Those of you who believe that the Koran is a document of historical facts might think that I am a scholar of Hindu religion. If you are confused, it is due to your madrassah education.

Amrit Patel, eh? You ain`t fooling me. You are probably Eunuch #1.

Ref harimau #12

Mr. harimau, you seem to be leading a double life. I mean, all along you have been slurping cow pi$$ here and suddenly you reveal yourself to have a sense of humour and now the new bombshell: you actually prefer water to urine!

What is the world coming to, when we can`t get consistent behavior from Hindu scholars? I mean, I can`t in good faith any more ask you if you are married to six wives, can I?

Ref Naqshbandi #5

Mr. Naqshbandi, you seem to be leading a double life. I mean, all along you have been spouting the Koran here and suddenly you reveal yourself to be a lover of Hindustani (Classical) Music and now the new bombshell: not only do you watch TV, you actually like Ali G!

What is the world coming to, when we can`t get consistent behavior from Islamic scholars? I mean, I can`t in good faith any more ask you if you are married to four wives, can I?

Sheesh, it is enough to turn one off Chowk!

Here is one more I read about him: Ali G walked into a white supremacists rally for an impromptu interview, and his first question was ``what kinda skin moistener do ya use``.

Ali G is great fun, even when he`s in poor taste. He`s not for everyone, though!!I think if you like South Park(I usually do but the episode with Martha Stewart was disgraceful)you would like Ali G.i can`t believe so many people haven`t heard of him,it`s acceptable if you live in India or Pakistan but everywhere else you hear more about him than you need to know.I thought the Kazakh was hilarious too.I haven`t seen the Baker interview but it should be good.
Btw,when Ai G started, most people thought he was Indian or Pakistani.

i think ali g is really really funny. i especially like the character of borak the kazakh reporter. the movie wasn`t terribly funny, but bits of it were. the guys a comic, not meant to be taken seriously, i mean how often do you hear about the jewish community rebuking jerry seinfeld? (though its probable thats happened and i just havent` heard of it) the drug interview was a riot, as was the one of the fbi officer.
