Next time no one dare call me elitist...I have jal-jeera before dinner, butter milk during dinner and ras-malai after dinner.]

Try my formula of Dubonnet, Merlot and Drambuie. You might mellow down too!

[Regarding the job with ``Meen-kari-kuzhambu``...I like fish curry and mushrooms:) ]

That assumes you will actually be fed by that poseur on Chowk Soysauce. Or treated with the respect every human being deserves. You know fully well only a Tam-Brahm is your best bet on that score.

Wow, 100 people have read this. And because a cat has nine lives, they went hit-hit that many times, muttering, ``Saali ko maaro!`` I survived because some did not make me their saali...

You know there are ways and ways to cure insomnia, and one at least is extremely pleasurable...I did not know you would use my limericks in lieu of that :) (Now the smiley is to show you that it is a zoke...)

Thanks...

Well, I must be grateful to those who read it and decided to be polite and refrained from commenting, assuming they did not like it. Or they just helped me start the year with a record!

I am guessing Farzana sahiba was on morphine when she uttered such pearls of wisdom;)concise but profound and i liked the rhyming scheme; it adds to the satire.
``And Islamabad, isn’t it Washington’s laundee?`` LOL
Take care

Farzana:

I can`t believe you ignored Saddam in your poem!! Can any New Year poem be complete without a few verses on that great Iraqi ``thespian`` ??

#12 should read:

F,

Yes it is. So is causing folks to do so!

Satire

PS,

I somehow read your reply [It is bad manners to yawn so openly in public…! ] as [It isn`t good manners to yawn so openly in public…! ] :)

[Mr. Iyer!

You found this reasonable? What are you drinking these days?!]

Usually, Dubonnet as an aperitif, a nice Merlot with my dinner and Drambuie or Kahlua afterwards.

[New Year resolutions? To try and find a job as a driver to a Tam-Brahm!]

That would certainly be better than driving a cab in New York and more likely than getting a similar job with Meen-kari-kuzhambu.

;-)

Farzana Jee,

Thankyou for critiquing my criticism to your poem. It has ``took`` me two years too much to realize that my zalim baap is pushing me too hard thus leaving me little time to write. But I shall rebel. And I shall overcome.

``Every man needs a little madness, or else he never dares to cut the rope and be free.`` - Nikos Kazantzakis

Au Revoir,
Faisal

Oh my gott
The response by my troth
Has been so overwhelming ;)
It takes me winging
To the nearest pot!

Ras:
Why do all your good wishes come with a warning? Ah, I forgot...it is like the stuff they must write on ciggie packs...there can be no smoke without fire...hey, this is good. Copyright reserved:)

epiphany:
No, you are not supposed to say this poem is good, because it is not a poem…you know what? I was going by the adage, “When you are good you are very good, but when you are bad you are even better.” So, you may say I am better, ok? And no, it did not “took” effort; in fact, it did not even take any effort. And please don’t go contradicting yourself. You started out about graying skies etc…now, did it took you much effort to pen that response? Nah…it just flowed…

[I also wonder if you have published any other work on this website. *wink*]

Nope. *nudge*. You think this is a website? I thought I had walked into a rehab clinic where people got detoxified, only to find that they are all into decaffeinating…what a disappointment:(

PS: I am not into latte anything. Mumbai chai with all sorts of masala is my poison. Some say I am poison. Kya karein…majboor zamaana mere liye kyon waqt apna barbaad karein, main pal do pal ka shaayar hoon…

Mr. Iyer!

You found this reasonable? What are you drinking these days?! And what Indian crowd? I am the Indian crowd…the rest are PIO:) (So must I humbly accept myself?) New Year resolutions? To try and find a job as a driver to a Tam-Brahm!

Shiiit…too many exclamation marks/smileys in one post. Think I did have fun, after all…thanks and wish you the same.

ahmadzai:

[Was it a single session amad or did you take a while writing this piece?]

I wanted to write an Intro in prose, but the first three limericks wrote themselves, so I said theek hai…the rest were written in my diary in about 15 minutes. I merely changed the order while typing it out. Again, the last three winding up ones were not planned… as you can see, I have a lot of time on my hands and they keep scrawling things in my diary of 1993 (seriously!) that still has empty pages!

Now why this long explanation? You asked for it :)

Satire:

It is bad manners to yawn so openly in public…!

t:

Just the mention of Tonto surprises you pleasantly??!! I am getting welling… ‘What do I know’ was gooding.

Best new year wishes for dreams and reality to all (and love to the ones who care for it!)

F
