What happened to Ali and his friends is sad. Such things are happening to many people in many towns throughtout Pakistan where Nazims have their axes to grind against their rivals. Many innocent people are hurt at the hands of these Nazims. Their stories donot receive the same attention as Ali`s has. I wonder what Ali must have felt had the TPO been a Jamaati himself?

PM I must agree. Mr.Escapist and echoboom it seems are doing exactly what they are accusing Paracha sahib of.

#77,
NFP may be deliberately provocative and agendaed in his style, but if you think that the mullahs have nothing to do with the lisence enjoyed by the various moral watchdog quarters that impinge on the individual`s right`s, you`re obviously in lala land-- andI don`t mean NWFP either!

echoboom:
You`re right. The Shariah should be applied everywhere. That`ll teach the ``perpetrators`` of such `crimes` as the one mentioned in the article you posted in #73, to sleep not with their own daughters (shudders!) but with their friends` daughters, with or without consent, and not wait until they`re 15 either, but catch `em when they`re still more nubile, no?

Um, have you not read the article? pasting Ali haider`s version of his non-sense, and turning it into a case against ``Mullahs`` ? When its a clear issue of public intoxication.

And yea, one prolly need brains, in his balls to twist things like that. And Yes I am disgusted.

When will the people in this country learn to respect privacy and come to the realization that just because your actions are based on the intention of `purity` and religious dogma, does not necessarly mean its `right` or even human!

I doubt that Ali is telling the truth of what happend in the apartment, but he should have based his statement on freedom. this was the perfect oppurtunity for him to state the countries pathetic values of the virtious Gods soldier amedning the wrong by invading someones will live in whatever way he pleases. forgetting that God has specified the trait of human race-consciouness of Free will.

i`m tired of the `secret society` that breeds in the country. its everywhere, yet no one acknowledges-`ignorance is bliss` is what the society enjoy.

we base our habit on two contradictory elements, ignorance is bliss and then nose around in every filthy act by imperfect human beings who dare be different.

...i really wonder what was going on in the apartment? on whats the other side of the story?

peace

Agree with #71.

Escapist
How exactly does your allegations against Paracha constitute intellectual honesty? Actually I`ve noticed that at least most people on chowk who bad mouth (as opposed to critisize) Paracha, usually have this awkward holier than thou attitude. I personally believe they are just disgusted for not haveing the kind of balls Paracha has, and, of course his kind of brains.

This is what Pakistan needs.

Chursee Parachaa and other westoxicated ones. It is quite understandable why western and pagan `values` are so valued by your kind.

It is also interesting to note that the faminists (ones devoid of feminism) never made it an sahria law an issue here

KANO, NIGERIA, 6 Jan 2004 (IRIN) - A Shari`ah Islamic court in northern Nigeria has sentenced a man to death by stoning for having sex with his 15-year-old step-daughter and making her pregnant, court officials said on Tuesday.

Umaru Tori, 45, was sentenced to death for adultery last week by a court in Alkaleri, a provincial town in Bauchi State.

His step-daughter was sentenced to 100 strokes of the cane, to be administered after she has given birth to her baby, since she was an unmarried minor.

A senior official of the Bauchi State Shari’ah Court of Appeal confirmed the judgment and said both convicts had a 30-day period until January 29 in which to appeal against their sentences.

Bauchi is one of 12 states in Nigeria`s mainly Muslim north that began adopting strict Shari`ah law four years ago.

This prescribes several controversial sentences, including stoning to death for adultery, the amputation of limbs for stealing and public flogging for drinking alcohol.

While some amputations and floggings have been delivered, no one has so far been executed by stoning in Nigeria.

Tori is the eighth person to be sentenced to death by stoning in northern Nigeria in the past three years.

So far three death sentences have been overturned on appeal, the most recent being that of Amina Lawal, a 32-year-old single mother. Her sentence was quashed by an appeal court in Katsina state in September.

Lawal`s case attracted a wave of international interest and outrage since the man she had accused of fathering her baby simply denied having sex with her and was acquitted.

Four people are currently awaiting the outcome of their appeals against stoning sentences in Nigeria.

Two are former lovers in Niger state and two are men in Bauchi state convicted of separate sexual crimes. One was sentenced to death for sexually molesting three teenage boys. The ofther confessed to adultery with his neighbour`s wife after putting her in a spell.

The application of strict Shari`ah has heightened tension between Nigeria`s Islamic north and the largely Christian south. This has given rise to periodic outburst of sectarian violence in which thousands of people have died in the past four years.

You are right on this. I think someone already pasted some parts of the Nazim`s story. This article is a proof of ``intellectual`` dishonesty of Paracha. Its amazing why chowk has hired him for the site.

PRE-pubecent whining. Someone all anti-obsanity nazims should look upto. Please welcome Escapist, ladies & gentlemen. Stop your `honest` `intellecual`` farting, fartIST!

Intellectual dishonesty may also consist of ranting against Paracha without offering specific instances of his alleged dishonesty.

I mean, I wonder if the Jang group still kets him write about ``post-ziaist, pre-multinational, post modernist, add some more ``ists`` here`` music scene of pakistan. I mean, where we have writers like Farzana, and Urstruly and few other very good ones who like to keep there stance known and defend it honestly, these low lifes only bring bad name of chowkies.

Regards.

We should know what the nazim had to say in explaining and defending his actions. Can anyone provide the details?

bhagi raja/ mr. paracha # 15,
the nazims side of the story was published in dawns images, the week after ali haiders side of the story was published in the same..if im not mistaken, ali haiders italicised quotes you have in the article above are from the same?

irrespective of who is right and what the point is, i think it would have been more power to you and the spirit of truth and fairplay and other such bullshit if the other side was also given space because most people here dont know what the nazim had to say in defense of what he did and why he did it
