Hi all,

Enjoyed the artical. On the same line, being a close relative of Balaji, i can now comfortably disclose here, that there is no such thing as match fixing taking place in this series!! That is absolutely absurd!
However, noting the disasterous failure against Austraila in 2003, all the Indian Cricketers have been placed on Steriods. So whenever the batting has collapsed or the bowling has become even more erractic than usual, its becasue they had been running low on supplies...otherwise, as you can see, we`ve been superb :)

Sunday, April 4, 2004 (Islamabad):

India`s complete domination continued at the 9th South Asian Federation Games (SAF) in Islamabad, Pakistan on Saturday.

Gold medals in swimming, shooting, table tennis and weight lifting put India`s total tally to 57 golds, followed by Pakistan with 22 gold medals. Sri Lanka lie in third place with seven golds.

re: A ``ragtag bunch``versus ``smart men in blues``
There is the ragtag bunch that look like dope peddlers. And then, there is the team with smart looking men in blues that will make Bollywood lasses take notice!
Indian cricketers or Pak rangers? You judge:

Where is Romair when u need him? Where are your smart looking Paki men, Field Mashal Romair? Perhaps they do not play cricket!

re: Pak speak
This is from the horse`s mouth:
http://www.sulekha.com/redirectnh.asp?cid=331130
``Pakistan’s media yesterday put aside the prevailing sombre mood over India’s maiden cricket Test win on its soil to hail the arch-rivals as the ``best Indian team ever.``

Lambasting the home side following India’s innings and 52-run victory in the first Test at Multan on Thursday, the media unanimously declared Rahul Dravid’s men a better team.

``This is without doubt the best Indian team ever,`` Pakistan’s best-known cricket commentator Omar Kureishi wrote in the Dawn newspaper.

``This is a team that has come with a mission. It is not distracted, it remains focussed. We were lulled into believing we had the edge over them with our bowling.``

In previous tours of Pakistan between 1954 and 1989, India had lost five Tests and drew the remaining 15, prompting claims of a ``mental block`` when playing against Pakistan.

The performance of India’s rookie left-arm seamer Irfan Pathan, who took a career-best 4-100 in the first innings and 2-26 in the second in only his third Test, too drew much attention.

A report in the Nation newspaper said the 19-year-old, who belonged to

``India’s strife-stricken, barbarically anti-Muslim state of Gujarat`` had received tips from former Pakistani great Wasim Akram.

The paper lambasted home coach Javed Miandad’s widely-publicised statement before the tour began that bowlers like Pathan were to be found in every nook and corner of Pakistan.``

re:#28 by Romair
Sohail Akhtar (the Rawalpindi Express that has now been derailed by the Indians!) looks like he is on dope, the favorite commodity in the ``land of the pure``. Pak`s best batsman Inzman can`t run 10 yards without getting breathless. Compared to Paki team, Indian team looks athletic, more focussed. I was impressed with what i saw on the video that i hired from the local grocery store. This Indian team is totally different from any i have seen so far. To be fair, i have not been following cricket for a long time now and the last time i seriously saw a match was 10 years ago.
Even the tail ender Balaji was blasting away sixers! Compare that to the tail enders of a bygone era when Bedi, Chandra and Prasanna would have trouble facing pace bowlers.
Also, the team players look smarter compared to the ragtag bunch of Pakis, many of who look like they have served term in jail!
So, wake up and smell the coffee. Paki team has been outplayed in all departments. Accept the truth. There is no H and D involved in being honest.
As far as CBMs are concerned, if losing cricket match by Pak is a step towards CBM, then i guess Pak has been doing a good job. After all, it has been losing out to India in all spheres in the last 50 years. Some CBM!

romair,

at least beat india once, where it matters...in the world cup...phir baat karna about `regularly`.

when pakistan wins, it is because they are a superior team/meat-eaters/muslims/..., when india wins, it is always because the match was fixed! makes you wonder how cheap the pakistani players must be...

I think this loss was part of the Confidence Building Measures, from the Pakistan side. It was meant to build the confidence of the Indians, so that they go back happy and satisfied.....The win will also allow the BJP to win the elections, which is what Pakistan wants at the moment. A loss may have resulted in a Congress win.

I think Pakistan will lose one more Test, to ensure that CBMs are fully in place, and BJP wins a landslide. After that the Kashmir issue will be resolved. And then we can go back to beating India, regularly, again.

Spoken to many, I do not think Pakistanis mind losing the game. Nobody minded losing the first one dayer. It was a great game and the Pakistani team faught well.

But losing so disgracfully was not right for the team. And it lost bacause of poor Fielding and poor Captaincy, something that even the great TV analysists do not factor in.

Pitch, fixing, pressure, umpiring is all bull. Pakistani team lost in a very fair game.

Cricket board should not complained against the umpring - if it has. All umpires make mistakes and it is a part of the game.

His Excellency:

There needs to be a `BRING BACK IMRAN NAZIR FAN CLUB`. Him being so ignored is too much. The selectors eyes need to be opened.

Normally I would not give more than an old slightly used corn flake for cricket, but this method of taking revenge on us Indians by you Pakistanis is too much. Enough. Next you will send Kinnaird College Ladies team for kho-kho?

Please appreciate, establishment (Butt & Bukh from Sharjah) fears that at this rate these test matches will soon become like Ranji Trophy matches. No crowd, no sponsors, no television, no scantily clad women and men, no match-fixing, no cola wars, nothing.

On the other hand, if the two teams had any sense they would take a five-day test and convert it into 5 back-to-back one-day games.

When Inzi trudged back to the pavilion after his runout, he was reported to have been only a trifle slower than during his attempted single.
