For all of you who were kind enough to read the story and write your reactions, many thanks and terribly sorry for this long silence.
Rahulmal Ji,
Glad you liked the language - I guess the key to this story was that there wasn`t much time for thinking and analyzing and editing. That helped to keep it short and from the heart. Thanks again.
Faiza Ji,
First of all, thanks for calling me Sahiba! It is such a wonderful term and I feel I almost have grown a wee bit more graceful by being called thus! Glad you liked the story. Thanks. :-)
Hermit/Khurram Ji
Sir, I am honoured if you chose to write back on reading my story - thank you. I hope you wll keep on writing in. We all appreciate being told if we were good or not, and where we could do better. Vanity may be one part of it, but isn`t the whole point of a chowk/adda that everyone can have his/her say? Keep on. Thanks and regards
Shirin & Kasi,
thanks both of you. What lovely words. Take care.

HaySucheta,
I m permanent visitor of chowk for the last 2 or 3 years but never tried to interact just bcoz I m fed up of this over communication age where you interact just to engulf others that leads you towards vanity. However, I feel to be honored to interact for ‘Monsoon arrives’.
Simple, just like pure human emotions, which we pollute for the sake of our own built walls of ego. You covered both and personify masterly. I believe it’s the simplicity that did all the magic. Although I believe in you but if u would create the riddles of treatment, hope it could damage all its sanctity.
Hats off for you Sucheta. Excellent work like all others of yours.

Hello Sucheta sahiba
This was simply beautiful. Loved the ending, so subtle but nonetheless accompanied by a sudden burst of hidden emotions and suppressed feelings. Take care.

Suchetaji,
Liked the idea, adored the language. I do get mesmerized by this kind of usage - ``large old house snoozed uneasily in its dusty gardens``. Write this one sentence and leave everthing else to user`s imagination. How beautiful!!
Going to read your other stories...

Well, that ``critic`` does not take himself that seriously..and ignores if someone writes something bad about what he has written..so you need not worry about him..
take care

Hi
Maharana # 17 - Glad you enjoyed the small piece. Creative ebb - I am not so sure. Waiting for the next spark is more like it. Thank you.
John Galt # 18 - Are the Marathi ethos so abvious and not just from the name? Happy that you liked the story. Used to read tonnes of Marathi - haven`t for a very long time now, almost two decades. Arvind Gokhale, Vijaya Rajadhyaksha, so many.....No, never published anything in Marathi apart from school magazines et al, oh, about a hundred years ago! Write to me.
Rahul Capri # 19 - Thanks. The reason for the somewhat long gap was due to an observation of a critic on the last story ``somewhat ordinary subject....etc``! :-) Chewed my nails over that, I can tell you! And I am about to buy (and read) my first Manto books in the next week, hurray! V much looking forward..
Sashayub # 21 - Hi! So nice of you to write.. I am grateful, really. By the way, still non-smoking, I hope?

Sucheta ji
I love reading your stories on chowk. Although the emotions and situations handled in your stories are universal, they do remind me of quintessential Marathi ethos. Your writing style is so simple, yet so evocative.. it reminds me of writings of great marathi writer Gangadhar Gadgil. I would love to know what influences shaped your literary thought process, especially in early years. Also, have you ever published any short stories / novels in Marathi?
Thanks,
JohnGalt

Mumbaikar # 12 & 13
Thanks!
Goa! Yes.. with the names and some other references, I suppose it is fairly obvious.
It is very kind of you to post all the older stories` urls! I am overwhelmed.
I also saw that you had posted BUS on the sulekha website. Is that correct? Thanks again for that.
Do write to me.
Regards
Sucheta

The sky to the west was darkening with monsoon clouds and mingling with her baby smells was another precious one.
Parched earth receiving its first rains.
I loved the ending. Suitably climactic.
