i would agree with abeer`s take on the situation around the world. Allah sometimes does show His displeasure on earth but His fairest punishments and his judgements are reserved for the day of judgement. our job as humans is to be sensible and controlled and be as intelligent as all of us can be about the situations we face. have we ever truly tried to spread our hands in front of Allah and ask Him for help when we most need it? some of us would rather do drugs, some of us would rather kill themselves and some of us would rather seek the comfort of a rented vagina.
there is hunger becuse the countries who produe a lot of food dump the food so that world prices remain stable rather than donate the food to poor countries.
murder, exploitation, crime, all these viles occur because we as humans act less as humans and more like hungry dogs. just step away from our worthless lives with all our petty ambitions and look at the bigger picture. if all the rich fed the poor, in one big swipe hunger, murder, most crimes and slavery would stop. if powerful countries put human welfare ahead of national interest, war would stop.
everybody chooses to do something. our weaknesses are what cause all the problems. those who are the weakest are looking at a long stay in hell in the hereafter. those who are the strongest are going to go to heaven. fatima was weak. shed rather sell her body than look for other kinds of work. even sweeping bathrooms at Rs.600 hundred a month would have been better that one night selling her body.
what is the point of humankind at all if all we will do is complain about problems rather than try and fix them? whats the point of your existence jayjay when you want God to fix all your problems while you sit around in sydney making stupid ass remarks about situations that your tiny intellect cant comprehend?

This was an eye opening story. I never realized this kind of practices ever took place in Pakistan. This was sad and a slap across the face of a country that claimed to be a muslim country.

my Allah is always with me and you and everyone else. Are you well-fed? do you have shelter, food and clothing? atleast you seem educated enough to interact on chowk. ha! you dont even seem thankful of all these blessings. they were not achieved by you. you were granted them by Allah. Allah gives those whom He will and does not give whom He wont. read the Qura`an its meaning and tafseer, then ask all these questions. Man, its so easy for him to blame anyone else than himself. this is not paradise, in case you are forgetting. the poor die of hunger because Zakat is not given to them, because the ones better off refuse to help them (most of them). slavery, torture, humiliation... excuse me, but who does it? man against man. the very purpose of existence in this world is to test man. sounds familiar? yes, heard it a thousand times, please think over it too. Allah has left it to man to see how he fares after providing complete guidance as well. what would be the use of this test if all was hunky and dory. and still Allah keeps showering us with His blessings. there is a play ``juno and the paycock `` by Irish playwright Sean O` Casey in which he says ``what can God do against the stupidity of man.`` But still Allah is always helping us and we dont even realize this. all this only shows where man stands; blaming the Creator instead of trying to figure out the real meaning behind the scenario. my argument might seem childish, but i stick to it. and again, i can very complacently say that go ahead, no ones stopping you; ``Try to hide reality in a thousand veils, and you can never succeed because the truth is still there. `` futile effort, this, trying to hide the truth.

Instead of all this mud slinging and name calling why not utilize our faculties and try to understand the truth. No need to fall into despondency. Allah has promised to help those believers who ask for His help and most importantly, those who do not despair of His mercy. What do we see everywhere? Despair, lack of faith and loss of hope. Allah has said in the Qura’an that women should not be forced into prostitution by lustful men. And if they are, then Allah is the Forgiving the Merciful. Which shows that women are helpless in front of the stronger sex. Uncomprehending mortals that we are, we forget that justice is not meant for this world. That would be asking for too much. This world is meant for trials and difficulties and how we fare in them. True justice will be meted out in the Hereafter. We should try our utmost to combat the evils present around us, such as prostitution and other forms of corruption.

Press freedom becomes absurd when people think they can deride religion and the basic values. Try to hide reality in a thousand veils, and you can never succeed because the truth is still there. It is only us deceiving ourselves.

Interesting read highlighting the helplessness of the people living below the poverty line. Indeed, people should have some sympathy on such poor females and marry them to help them and not force them to become sex workers.

However, I would like like to point out, that there are many females who do not live below the poverty line and are not in dire need, and still take up this profession.

For instance, I read a story, a year back in The Friday Times ( a true story ) of a nurse who earned enough money to have a decent shelter over her head, earned enough to eat all three times of the day and enough money to buy new clothes. Moreover, her husband was also working. However, she wanted more. Owing to her greed, of climbing the class or status ladder quicker than quickest, she become a sex worker in her part time. Her husband soon enough found about her ``extra`` work and stopped her. But, since her wants exceeded herneeds, she could not stop. the husband died of a heart attack. The women , only stopped when, her unknowing son arranged a night out with a sex worker, and the sex worker turned out to be his mother. he never returned home once he found about the part time work of his mother.

I deeply sympathise with the females who are ``forced`` to take up this profession and i believe that it is the insensitive society (of which I am also a part) which has forced them to work as a sex worker. However, i find myself unable to sympathise with females who do this willingly and without any need.

I believe Dafor needs your infinite and all encompassing judgement, and the women of Iraq have not been able to leave their homes in fear of people who say they believe in you, and oh, theres that little matter of lying republicans in the white house who have plans, it is rumored, to invade Iran.

In all your certainty and accusation, I am sure that you`ll be able to handle these little contretemps, being the morally unassailable deity that you are. Leave the lit criticism to us lesser mortals and use your awesome power efficiously, please.

it was a nice read. i used to live in isl, but currently residing in melb. just got bit nostalgic. i used to be in ICB. wow lovely years of my life.

i wont attest the resemblance of places, events or characters in the story to real life (ref: jayjay) - yet the plot was solid. a nice attempt to unwrap unjust societal practices in offcourse - the land of pure.

however the novelty of the subject is still questionable? another addition to ``manto in da house``!

i would agree, that its not a good idea to purposely use the names of religious figures - just to raise controversy (offcourse for getting more popularity)

I see it less as ``sadistic pleasure`` as making a set of more disturbing points. If a sex worker is named Khadija, Fatima or Aisha in Real Life, what are we to do? Can we live with those ironies, because they exist....I think that tends to get obscured in the outrage over surface ideas.

I am sure that there are women, even seemingly respectable, pious women named Aisha, Fatima or Khadija who if not sex work, are capable of questionable behavior towards their famillies and other people...if for example, in another story, Khadija was a character who manipulated her family in terrible ways, would it be acceptable?

Imho, any system is open for these kinds of questions.
